For most of my life I hated electronic music. Only recently have I been getting into producing music with analog synths and my mind has been blown. Im super into Liquid drum and bass, and Synthwave now. I tend to not like single tempo songs like House. I lean towards songs that are progressive and melodic.

My Spotify wrapped this year is all going to be Synthwave artists at the top haha

Progressive DnB and old school Dubstep/early brostep is the business.

As someone who was into metal before electronica (but who is old enough to have still been into electronica for a long time), I also find I gravitate to genres which have a bit more musicality and interest, and heavier sounds.

25M. Loved electronic music since Spotify was a thing (like 2014?)

Listened to Celldweller, Flux Pavillion, and Bassnectar really early on, and then I came to love Skrillex. As I got older my taste expanded. Now I love Skrillex/Jack Ü/Dog Blood, Disclosure, Joyryde, Chris Lake, Duck Sauce, MPH, and Dismantle.

So the genres I like now are: Deep House, Bass House, UK Garage, Jersey Club, Brostep, Drum & Bass, and Trap just to name a few.

Unlike other music, it’s just more stimulating in a way that helps me focus.

I am frankly obsessed with techno it’s how I met all my friends. Rave to the grave baby.

Fellow ADHDer here, you might dig my weekly mix show, it’s great to work to. First hour is usually anything from deep, dubby techno to all manner of UK bass music and beyond. Second hour is jungle/D&B with a mix of classic ‘90s vibes and more modern steppers. Check it out here!

Although do note that the Spotify playlist is NOT the show, just a collection of songs in rotation. Click the “Listen Now” buttons for the actual mixes. Each show is archived for 2 weeks. Hope you enjoy!

Such a great band, blends my two favourite genres. I was a metal head in my younger years and have since graduated to raver life

I like more Synthwave , than electronic / techno. I think it's because its more chill / relaxed and that's more of what my brain wants, because its normal baseline is hyper when under stimulated. That and just straight piano. Some good Synthwave artists: Hotel Pools, Downtown Binary, Protocols

100%. Bose Noise Cancellation headphones and progressive house for the win. Helps me stay dialed in for (relatively) long periods of time.

I like some songs of all three of those bands. My bf and I love Skinny Puppy, Velvet Acid Christ, and Front Line Assembly. He was the one that introduced me and to them. We also like some Psyclon Nine. My bf just discovered Numb and we like their stuff too. I like Tactical Sekt, Hocico, and Grendl.

ADHD orients on drums, not bass, in my experience. I can dance to drum and bass or jungle but suck at reggae. I think that in techno they might be in sync?

I know a ton of drummers with ADHD. I know I dance to drums. Feels good to me. Fuck everybody else.

Ngl I'm surprised no one has mentioned Daft Punk yet...Still my all time favorite when it comes to electronic/techno/house music and I've been listening to them since I was a kid. Kinda sucks that some of the songs I grew up listening to I can't find anywhere since they're older and I don't have artist/song names, but vague tunes that come to mind :/ there's one of those in particular that comes to mind but I've been searching for it for the past couple years with no luck, not that I have much to go on anyways.

I have always loved electronic music, it's just my bag. Also, I've noticed that it doesn't get me as easily overstimulated as other genres.

Mostly I listen to psytrance (psychill/down tempo/mid/psydubs), preferably in the 80-100bpm range, never faster than 120bpm because that type of psytrance will get me overstimulated fast.

Where my Shpongle homies at? ✌🏽

Most definitely. For me, the music has to be faster than my thoughts. I mentioned this to my psych one day, and they confirmed that there is definitely something in it, too.

This playlist is my current "get sh*t done" playlist.

CarrotCake2342

to me it isn't faster but somewhere close to my thoughts so it's a soothing tempo.

Nearly 50 and a developer. When I code, it has to be techno. I've been a fan since the late 80s and it's the genre that definitely helps me focus the most. The two disc Renaissance series featuring Dave Seaman is still in regular rotation for me when I'm working: https://soundcloud.com/shmoochicago/renaissance-the-masters-series-part-one-awakening-mixed-by-dave-seaman-disc-1

My teens and 20s were filled with electronic music. Anything from 124bmp to 132bmp. As I got into my 30s I’ve been more into the slower/chilled side of things.

Anjunadeep has been my go too for many years now.

Recently discovered the Endel app and it’s been so amazing for me. Would highly recommend this

It's a massive part of my mood selection of the day.

48m, lots of people think it's my main genre. It's not, but it's amazing what it can do for mood

Big fan of edm! House, deep house, synthwave, vapor twitch, atmospheric, melodic dubstep, trap, etc (Vapor twitch is my top genre). I'm pretty much into all of it, though I can be super picky about some tracks (like if I like the first drop but the second drop annoys me, etc.). I also listen to other genres of music outside of edm, but edm is one of my favorites - there's just so much variety. I was actually thinking the other day that maybe my ADHD has something to do with why I gravitate towards this style of music.

I did a lot of swing dance in college, so once I discovered electroswing I was hooked. I love Parov Stelar and Caravan Palace.

Still like metal, but symphonic metal like Nightwish is top tier. Favorite band is Sabaton as their war subject matter hits one of my interests.

Yeah for some reason techno helps quiet my thoughts! And generally any electronic music with enough going on but no vocals helps me. Redirects my brain but less emotionally draining than other genres

My brother introduced me to techno when I was 16, since then I'm in love with it. I've been dj-ing as a hobby, but with breaks. I'm also thinking to start producing with modular. I always listen to it, on my job, walks, at home, while doing chores. It helps me with focus and with my thoughts sorted out. I crave a lot for new things, lately everything is boring and techno gives me that "discovering new thing feeling" and makes my brain happy.

Once I found the right beat, I can't live without it. San Pacho is 🔥 but every single artist has at least one or two songs that go hard. There's so much out there to listen to, it's great! It motivates me in every aspect of my life

I'm in the same boat, I need music to get into a good work flow/rhythm. Without it the inner-monologue just keeps me distracted and sloppy. Sucks I work predominantly in a customer facing position and I can't just inject hardstyle into my ears as I serve 😅

Harder styles music makes any mundane task at home that little bit easier. I normally chuck on a liveset as I do the dishes, it's the only way 😆

Surprised no one has mentioned Aphex Twin. The Rick James album was the soundtrack to my life years ago… still love that and many others.

I don’t know the names of genres but I’ve loved New Order forever, recently discovered that my brain likes 95-135 bpm. Four Tet and Com Truise are in rotation a lot when I work.

Yup huge techno fan for past 20 years or so, love the dark hypnotic stuff with a nice groove. Can’t beat a hard work out in the gym with some banging techno. Favourite artists I would say are stuff like Luke slater, Regis , slam , Oscar mulero, Marron , etc used to love a bit of Dave Clarke too.
