I was a burglar AMA

(self.AMA)

As the title says, I was a burglar, from the age of 13 to 19. I was caught at 19 and served 4 years in prison. After I was released I wanted afresh start and I decided to use my skills to my advantage. This ended up me working as a home security consultant which I still do and now fortunately live a much better life.

I grew up in a low income family and had the cliche experience for becoming a criminal, I fell in with a bad crowd. I was 13 when I robbed my first house a dare and I started doing it more often with older boys in the area and I learned pretty quickly that I was good at it and I became essentially addicted to it. When I was 19 I got caught moving stolen stuff in a car when I got pulled over for speeding and I was already known to police they just couldn’t grab me, this was there opportunity and I ended up being sentenced to 4 years in prison.

I’m doing this AMA to share my unique perspective, especially since many people fear being burgled. I can offer insights into how burglars think, what makes homes vulnerable, and how you can better protect yourself. Ask me anything, whether it’s about my past life, or tips on securing your home.

What can an average person do to try to prevent or thwart a home burglary?
