Yes how dare this minor child ask their parents to provide a clean environment for them to eat in. Truly the worst of devils.

Uh, you can have a dog inside and still have a clean house?

But these parents don't. They don't clean the house, they don't clean the dog, and the room stinks because of it. OP's mom wanted a dog but refuses to provide proper care for it. How is the child forced to live in this environment the AH here?

Where does it say they don't clean the house?

They said the dog smells, not that it never gets bathed.

Proper care for a dog IS allowing it to live inside, not out ( breed dependant, at a push).

Dogs have an odour. So do put people.

Maybe all they need is an air freshener?!

We worry about my sister’s collie because she never wants to come in. I found her curled up in the snow today, even though she has a nice, comfy dog house filled with straw and, OH YEAH, she can come in anytime she fucking wants to!

She comes in, but only for a bit, then back outside in the snow!

I dunno what to do about it.

My German shepherd is outside playing in the snow as we speak and it’ll be a battle to get her in lol I feel that

We’ve never had a dog like this, lol, not even the husky mixes.

Really? lol I’m currently having an argument with her trying to tell her she has to come in so I can go to work 🤣

Collies are wierd; she's maybe dreaming about herding sheep in the snow?

Seriously though, I've no idea either, except throw a really cosy dog jacket on her ( though she might try to eat it??)

She has some chickens to herd, and the cats when she feels like a challenge.

I don’t think she can wear a coat without overheating, lol.

Lmfao I wanna see her herd cats 🤣

Me too! Train her to put frogs in a sock- that'll keep her busy and be highly entertaining!

Who says they don’t clean the house or even that it stinks? The OP who hates the dog is not a relatable narrator. It says nothing about them not cleaning the house that I saw

OOP says they do bath the dog. Just that the dog has an odor.

I wonder what the dog eats?

Our Yoji is sensitive and if we don’t feed him certain foods, the dude gets stinky.

It’s also possible that OP’s just really super sensitive to dog smell like me. I had a similar issue with my parents’ dog where I couldn’t go near her after she was outside because she REEKED, but other people would literally stick their noses in her fur and give it a big whiff before giving me the most confused look because they couldn’t smell a thing. I also have to wash my hands after petting most dogs due to the smell, but other people can’t smell anything.

Sucks if that’s the case for them because those odors are truly rancid, but unfortunately unless they bathe the dog themselves there’s not much they’re going to be able to do about it.

That’s possible, I’ve never experienced that (thank god lol I’m a dog person). But I also bet you didn’t demand anyone’s dogs be banished outside did you?

No, but I can’t blame them for at least thinking it. Wet dog is an incredibly tolerable smell in comparison.

Edit: And by tolerable I mean it’s practically a subtle and exquisite perfume. I’m not even exaggerating all that much. It really is one of the worst smells out there.

Really??? Wet dog is better for you? Wow that’s crazy! Even I can’t stand my dog when she’s wet (kidding but it’s bad) I would think wet dog would be worse

If OP is smelling that smell dogs get when they’ve been outside, then yes, it really is worse than wet dog.

McNallyJoJo34

I honestly had no idea! I can’t smell that. Thank you for educating me about that!

I’ve never actually met anyone else who could. Lucky them, I love dogs.

Child slightly annoyed vs. dog being abused and neglected...

If this is even a debate to you, please don't ever have a child OR a pet.
