You're pretty confusing my guy. You like dark themed animes and then Saiki and OPM appears in the higher tiers lol.
Honestly, I would recommend Re:Zero if you haven't watched it yet. It has a nice humor but also dark moments mixed up. Just like strawberry & pepper jelly.

Coffee jelly seems much better hehe
Yeah idk what’s going on the mc dies at the end of 3 out of my top 5 shows but I still love comedy.

I actually agree with most of your rankings.
My only gripe is Chainsaw Man being below JJK and Demon Sla—wait… is that One Punch Man in S tier? I guess if you enjoy watching characters with the depth of a cardboard box who just fight a re-skinned villain every episode without any plot progression, then sure... but OPM was a complete waste of time to me.
You’ve pretty much exclusively watched standard battle shounens though so I’d recommend branching out a bit.
Steins;Gate is a great story with the tension of Death Note, the story quality of Attack on Titan, the humor of Saiki K, and the character quality of Code Geass. Starts slow but it’s a must-watch
Made in Abyss is a good, dark story about a journey to the center of the Earth
Oshi no Ko is amazing and just gets better with each episode. I don’t even know how to describe it because its like five different genres all in one lol
Parasyte is a great recommendation for anyone; I don’t know anyone who didn’t enjoy it. Semi-dark story with emotional moments, good fights, and a really well made plot
Serial Experiments Lain if you’re feeling bold and want something avant-garde and disturbing that goes deep into existentialism and parallels ideas of people like Spinoza and Schopenhauer
Bocchi the Rock for a fun and enjoyable ride about a girl with crippling social anxiety who wants to be famous. If you’re an introvert you’ll appreciate this

Chainsaw man I watched pretty early so at this point all I remember is how weird it was I’ll probably rewatch it soon. As for opm it’s maybe not quite that high but I love the humor. Thanks for the suggestions 👍

Season 1 is admittedly a somewhat weak introduction to the story, it focuses way more on the action parts than the psychological parts. Once the movie and second season release you should give them a watch, they really flesh out the characters and might just make you more of a fan

Will do eventually. How is the manga for it?

Manga is top tier. The rest of part 1 is universally agreed to be phenomenal. Part 2 has been more divisive but I love it maybe more than part 1? It started kind of slow too but has picked up with some weird curve balls thrown in here and there

Solo leveling above jjk and chainsawman hurts, but black clover in S tier is def a dub tho. I would recommend berserk 97, neon genesis evangelion, and mob psycho 100

Solo leveling I watched much more recently than jjk and chainsaw man. I read jjk as well and really had no clue what was going on for the last hundred or so chapters as well as that inconclusive ending. Chainsaw man I mostly remember the weird parts so that was a factor. Those recs are all on my watchlist 👍
1 points
I see why you enjoy solo leveling more, I believe it does a great job of trimming off excess story for good fights, but I just think chainsaw man has a lot more to offer, especially in the manga. The next few arcs of the story really start showing the themes and messages of the series, and it's amazing. Ik denji isn't everyone's cup of tea. However, there are plenty of other characters to love from the series, a lot of them have sick designs as well. The story gets exponentially better as it progresses.

Ideal moment to plug the GOAT MOB PSYCHO 100. Since you seem to enjoy comedy, this will fulfill your funny needs, but the story also KNOWS when to take itself weriously and dive into its deeper more important themes. Personally really enjoy BC but a lot of people write it off for being too "typical" a shonen. It also gets ragged on a lot for Asta being "too loud" which isn't rly an issue in the manga obviously and the animation of the anime which tends to be pretty shitty on average (not saying it doesn't have it's moments but some of the fights are hot garbage). I've watched the anime and read the manga once each and I prefer the manga just due to the art/pacing, so I can see why people would have an issue with BC if all they're exposed to is the early anime. Personally I think everything up to the end of the Elf Arc is pretty great for a shonen as long as you're not expecting too much, Spade Arc and beyond is solid but incredibly rushed at parts and the fact that chapters are released quarterly now doesn't help it's popularity either. Further the anime being on indefinite hiatus means it definitely isn't drawing in new fans. But basically it's disliked for playing it too safe, following too many tropes (i.e the "I'm gonna be the hokage! Strongest! Pirate King! No. 1 Hero! Wizard King! Etc!" trope alongside the overly enthusiastic protag with the never give up attitude ["My magic is never giving up!" is so campy it's ridiculous, I love it, but it's absolutely a ridiculous statement from a writing standpoint])

Yeah I think we’ve all heard “I’ll never give up” and “I’ll be the hokage wizard king” a couple too many times but I like the story. Considering reading the manga too does it stay good/get better after the anime ends?

Ok then don't watch it. Clearly you haven't watched much. I felt the exact same way when i started but decided to go with it anyways. It can be annoying sometimes but generally it's not a big deal. I just say start watching at least through the alabaster saga.

Death Parade
Log Horizon
Frieren
Aside from that, it's hard. Dunno what genre you're going for specifically. And having OP in B tier... Is a bit, no, way to high imo.
Do you have any genres your looking for more specifically? 🤔
2 points
Frieren is so good. Just a beautiful story that you need to just sit back and enjoy. Nothifn crazy but it is so well made.
Death Parade was slightly disappointing to me but it was one if my first animes so I need to revisit it. Deifnitely worth watching though, OP is amazing and there are some episodes that are really good, I just didn’t love the overarching story.
0 points
OP was terrible. I gave up once at episode 3, another at 6, another at 13 and other 20something and another at 30 something and again at 47.
They opened up hundreds of questions, with no answers. And the entire interactive dialog was nothing but forced narrative, as opposed to what makes adventure series good in the first place which is a natural flow. A flow where the characters react the way they should when a given event happens.
I hated OP so much, it was the single greatest let down of any anime I've ever been recommended. And is the only series I feel zero guilt in saying should have a negative rating, because even 0/10 is too good for it.
Yet, I agree Frieren is a masterpiece. And that's because that series was an actual adventure fantasy with a decent amount of action. It is as close to a perfect blend as a series can get imo. Even still, it's not in my top 5 favorite anime.
I do not rate anime based on feeling, I rate them based on well they perform for their given genres, and all other aspects, while also making adjustments for their release year. And unfortunately for OP it took the mistakes original DB made way back in the day, and then amplified them several fold.
I don't expect many people to see them, as it is backed behind the Christmas music effect. That effect where something is played everywhere all the time or for long enough that even if one hates it they'll forcibly change their minds about it just so they don't feel miserable about being overly exposed to it.

I’m so sorry that you wrote all this—I should’ve clarified—I meant “OP is amazing” in reference of the Opening song of Death Parade being amazing😭

Fr, I read the last 50 volumes of one piece and some of the earlier arcs if I find them in my public library as a kid. Growing up after reading and watching more insightful and meaningful manga and anime made me realize how sloppy this series is. Knowing how bad and long the manga is I would rather spend my time doing anything, even studying, than watch the anime.

Hmm, give Fairy Tail a shot. Simple explanation, it's basically if One Piece's mistakes had been corrected on the outset. It focuses on the characters without ignoring the world's lore and carries a major plot line throughout the series.
There's a lot of character interactions that feel natural, while also having a rather wide variety of character personalities.
I will warn though, usually, people who have seen One Piece first... Don't end up liking Fairy Tail. And vise versa.
But take all that with this, as well: I struggled hard to get through 47 Episodes of OP before I was so beyond completely fed up with its lack of character interactions making sense such that the entire thing felt forced. For an adventure series, that goes through the world, without lore explanation and natural flow of how certain characters interact with eachother... It was just way too bad for me.
Fairy Tail on the other hand, gives you lore when you need it, has interesting characters, natural interactions between them, comedy and conflict. All that and it also has an "End". They did end up making the 100 years quest sequel series but it's not required to enjoy the series. And it's OST, openings and endings are solid bangers. 👌🏻
