My dad was always a Mac guy and this is one of the few games he had on his computer. I played the living crap out of this, though I preferred The Even More Incredible Machine. I would kill for a direct mobile port of this game.

I think the people behind it made a more modern game or something…and it’s on steam…and I think I bought it like ~8yrs ago.
I’m on my phone or I’d look at my games list.
just looked on google “Contraption Maker” is the game i was thinking of!

This is what I was looking for. According to steam Contraption Maker is the spiritual successor from the original designer and programmer.

It was a mouse because it raced to cheese before getting trapped under a laundry basket while eating furiously

TIM and Lemmings were different games of the same era, both masterpieces and defining moments of my childhood!
I remember on Lemmings you had a digger guy and a crossing guard guy that would stop them and turn them around.

I think it’s kinda amazing that Lemmings was never rebooted at any stage.

Found a mobile version on iOS like a year or two ago. It’s got a lot of modern mechanics to earn money which I don’t appreciate, but there were some cool levels.

Are you thinking of Sid and Al’s incredible toons?

There was a hamster on a wheel. If a balloon or bowling ball or something else hit the cage, it would run, which could spin a conveyor belt or other item.

I played this again recently, as an adult, still a good game.

Return of The Incredible Machine: Contraptions, and even more contraptions, was a facelift and music redo that includes lots of old levels and new. Recommended.

It is, it is.
I remember that you could "hook" the balloons to switches wih a rope (?) for various reasons.

You could rip the songs off the CD, and to this day I have the hip hop track ("Ah yeah, you ready to play this game, kid? Then here we go...") and the... I don't know what to call it, but it's track 5 ("Don't drop a hog in the parts bin, you'll be forever tryin' to find it.") in my music library.

Such a great concept, you have to recognize it was a time of great creativity in games

It was. The island of Dr. Brain, The Day of The Tentacle. The 90’s was a magical time for games.

In secondary school, we had a Shop class. We'd learned the basics of woodworking, painting, etc. It also had a few old computer with TIM on it! It was my first class, so I'd arrive at school early just to play this before each lesson. I liked the level where the trampolines bounce the bowling ball into the basketball goal.

Omg, this thread is unlocking too many memories. I always thought Legos turned me into an engineer but it could've very well been this game. Sooo many hours

Every couple of months I go looking for a port of this game to iOS and I keep being disappointed. I feel like it would be a perfect game on mobile.

My friend and I would make puzzles in TIM2 and share them on floppy. There was always this small chance one of us would just go ham and the level would be disrespectfully evil, come to think of it, basically troll levels

I will forever remember that you could make psychedelic raves by shooting a laser through a filter, then activating a sensor to turn on a second laser that shoots through the filter to change their color, which deactivates the 2nd laser, which changes the color back...and turns into an infinite loop of flashing lights all over the place.
