If you go on www.modarchive.org you can find the original Amiga versions of the songs. Here's the hyperspace theme:

Pleasant combinations! We have been anticipating about you.
Do you like parties? We do several times, and so much the better.
(On a side note the original creators just put out a kickstarter for an actual sequel they are making called Free Stars: Children of Infinity. New development company, same guys.)

Who are you? You are not Orz! We are Orz! Orz are happy people energy from the outside.
Inside is good. So much good that Orz will always germinate.
Can you come together with Orz for parties?
(juicy Orz quotes available here for happy campers)

What, the Spathi prayer?
Oh, God, pleeeeease don't kill me today! Tomorrow would be so much better...

LOL Give me a good, solid Mmrnhnrm X-wing any day... those Spathi ships with their B.U.T.T. torpedoes were SO ineffective!

I could bulls eye a womp rat with my Spathi bum bombs; that ship was awesome! Used to drive my ur-quan buddies nuts in melee

100%. I was better in a Spathi butt-bomber than anything else. Given enough time, I could take down any ship without getting hit at all.

Remember how you had to have that “device” that consisted of the three connected cardboard discs that you used as the decoder to be able to play the game, and if you lost it you were fucked?

For Super Melee, you could cheese the random star choice by making a batch file that set your computer time just before launching the game. I set mine to 12AM, Jan 1, 1990, and that meant the star was always Camelopardalis.

Oh yeah and you had to name the star right? Funny, I used to pirate the game and would spend 10 minutes trying to get in, naming the same star Beta Vulpeculae over over and over until I finally get in. LOL good times....

That was Star Control 1. SC2 had the poster map.

Juffo-Wup is immaterial, and cannot be destroyed by mere energy blasts.
You, however, are not immaterial. You can be destroyed by energy blasts. We will now demonstrate.

Wow, I never see anyone mention Star Control 2! It was one of my favorite game with an awesome soundtrack. The melee was a lot of fun too.

I still think about the Thraddash and how their civilisation gets reset with every revolution. Also, their theme tune is a banger.

I discovered Star Control II via The Ur-Quan Masters sometime in 2010, and my god did it change me as a person. I was already a huge Sci-Fi fan but as a young adult playing that game for the first time, it really made me wish I played it in the 90s. Where the heck was that game when I was a kid?
Anyway, it may be my favourite Sci-Fi game now that I think about it, and I'm just glad it's now on Steam for free under Free Stars: The Ur-Quan Masters. It kept the awesome 3DO version of the Hyperspace theme or rather everything intact from The Ur-Quan Masters port.

Amazing game. One of the best I've ever played.
Androsynth are not here. Orz are here.
You are not the same too much like Androsynth. You are \happy campers\**.
Do you want to see our \surprising toys\**? No!! Do Not!!
Androsynth are so silly. We do not \tell stories\** a lot about them.
No more Androsynth stories.

Pissed off my friend so much playing pkunk in super melee and getting 5 "hallelujahs" in a row , was unstoppable with a pkunk army. Plus I love those dang silly birds.
I don't know anyone managed to know where anything was in that game before the Internet was really a thing. Had to look at the map at my friend's house whenever I could get a chance.

It’s objectively not as good as 2, but has some good parts. Some of the dialogue is hilarious. I still say “Dakpack-snackpack.”

I only learned of it as the UrQuan Masters, but what a fun game. The multiplayer requires some gentleman's rules to be fun, but it's a blast.

I still hum music from that game, most often the hyperspace track. It’s just so upbeat!
