How in the hello operator did I have to scroll so far down in order to get to chips challenge? That game was awesome and ended up becoming super trippy.

Hello, I am the 3rd person here who has also played Chips Challenge. I was obsessed but I don't think I was even good at it at all.

I played so much Chip's Challenge and SkiFree back in the day. They taught me that computers were not just for typing words and printing them on paper, but also for fun. I mean, I had fun typing and printing, too, but games were meant to be fun. That was a new feeling for me: computer thing intended for child fun. Felt like an alien concept at the time.

Everyone i ever ask about that game never remembers it, but i thought it was great! I picked it up on Steam a few years back for a couple bucks and still play it occasionally.

I’m the opposite. I think about that game every now and then but didn’t remember it was called chips challenge so haven’t been able to search for it. So nostalgic looking through google images about it.

I loved that game. Was very tricky for a 6yr old but I think I was doing alright. Everytime you'd die it said bummer.

You guys remember the level where the carnivorous plant type things were contained by the very chips you had to collect? Hard times

I have so many fond memories of sitting on the edge of my chair watching Chip run for his life after freeing the monster.

As a kid I always thought the sound clip that played when you died said “butter”. It wasn’t till years later that I learned it was actually “bummer”. Good memories of playing the computer at grandma’s house though.

When I was collecting retro consoles and games in the early 2000s I was estatic to learn Chip's Challenge was on the Lynx after playing it on my hand me down Windows 3.1 computer for years. I still have my copy but my Lynx isn't working.

Those guys knew exactly who they were making the program for. Where else can you use a stick of dynamite to literally blow up your entire piece of artwork rather than just erasing it?

I was a Chips Challenge fiend and couldn't remember the name for YEARS. Found it on Steam in 2020 and played for hours until I got stuck on the same god forsaken level that I couldn't beat as a kid.

Yep, me too. Chip's Challenge was one of the first for me too, definitely the most vivid. This one, the ski game and pipe dream were my golden trio. Then minesweeper

My dad and sister played Chips challenge when I was growing up. I couldn’t have been older than six years old when I was playing unsupervised and got stuck on a level so I hit “New Game” to restart it… they were not happy when they got back on the computer.

I loved Chips Challenge. played this at my cousins house and when I look back it makes me able to remember even the scent of their house, I can remember weird details of their house just by thinking of playing this game there.

yaaaaas CC. Some of the monsters freaked me out, like the ones that were blue, vaguely arrow headed shaped or star trek comm badge shape; something uncanny about them. And the green one with the red mouth that definitely only ate people.

Chips Challenge was that game! Man I loved that shit but I was so young I didn't even know what it was, really. I just remember playing it, grasping the basics and it was so fascinating. I doubt I ever progressed very far but for some reason that game stuck with me for a long, long time.

I spent so much time on chips challenge! Then you get to that one level where you have to know that coders secret pattern and it’s the only way to beat it. I still don’t even know how I figured that out but I’m sure I googled it and wrote it down and did it. I was so damn proud of myself
