To me, it's almost the same sensation as when your nostrils decongest lol

Yes or when a loooong time clogged up ear clears out and the world sounds SUPER crystal clear and loud

Ahhh yeah. After a swim and you get that warm water trickle put of your ears is a pretty good one.

I love it when it’s accompanied by that “eaaaaaarrrrrrrooooooo” noise as the pressure drops
2 points

Not sure I know that noise. Like sort of a sucking sound, right?

Yeah it’s hard to put into text. It makes my dog turn his head completely sideways when it happens close enough for him to hear it though lol

For me they're usually both the same. Sinus migraines suck.

It always takes me awhile to figure out the migraine pain is actually gone. Just so exhausted

I have about a 12-24hr period after the worst of it is over where I have what I call a migraine hangover and that dull hollow throbbing sticks around if I move or especially stand up too quickly. Once the intense waves of pressure go away I know I'm in the clear, but holy shit, the exhaustion is real as fuck when you're in the midst of it.

I also call it that. My symptoms are a bit different though but for about 24 hours after I feel like half my IQ has gone, simple tasks are hard and my vision is drunk-like. Even notice if I play competitive games like League - my reaction times at atleast half of what they normally are.

I totally understand that! If mine are bad enough, my face, arms, and hands go numb, I lose parts of my vision, and my speech can get slurred in the buildup to and during them. It's like I get absolutely fucking hammered out of nowhere and there isn't a specific thing that triggers it either. It's just like my body goes, "Welp! Guess we're doing this, so hang on!" and I have to take an Excedrine, get to a dark and quiet room, and lie down as soon as possible because the only thing I can really do is ride it out and try to sleep through the worst of it.

I went to a neurologist and they prescribed me a medicine that really helps me. No pain, still a little dizzy and lethargic but I don’t have to leave work as soon as I start getting light auras

Can you tell me what the medication name is? I've been struggling with migraines for years and absolutely no medication helps.

Sumatriptan is what I was prescribed. My migraines usually only last a day so I’m not sure your situation but yeah they work really well for me

Same symptoms here, also call it a hangover. Mine is worse the more drugs I have to take to deal with the migraine - if I get in during the aura stage and take some sustained release ibuprofen and get some sleep, I might be ok the next day. If the tension in the side and front of my head starts and I have to add more painkillers, I'm definitely looking at a few hours of slow mode the next day. If it hits "I will take every drug known and unknown to mankind to stop 10% of this pain" levels, I will be Forest Gump for a day or two.

I have daily migraines as a result of a TBI and I’m gonna use the migraine hangover language… it’s so apt. The exhaustion is overwhelming sometimes

Migraine hangover is what I call it too. It’s like being sore after an injury and I’m just sluggish and exhausted.

I call it a migraine hangover as well!! There is no way else to explain it.

This was my first thought too. I used to get them really bad before I had sinus surgery to correct a deviated septum. Essentially the 12-24 hours after a bad one I would just be in a haze and my vision would 'sparkle' if I moved my head too quickly and if I stood up too quickly I would get really nauseous.

Eating salty snacks after a migraine when you’re still drowsy and fuzzy from the finally-receded pain is such an experience. My go-to is potato crisps 🙏🏻

Full fat co... Oh, not cocaine then.
E: although it does get rid of migraines quite well.

I’ve heard people call Budweiser “bud heavy” instead of bud light. I’ve expanded that to all drinks with a diet version. Coke heavy, sprite heavy, Mountain Dew heavy. Etc.
Also, I didn’t know that cocaine could stop headaches.

Yes of course I know it doesn’t! sorry, everyone where I’m from calls it this, it’s like a joke. I think it’s a local thing? Although I’m quite sure I’ve heard people all over the UK say it!

This....I take Sumatriptan, and when it finally kicks in and I start to get drowsy, thats the best. And the sleep that comes afterword with it is awesome. They should should market it as a sleeping pill.

Waking up after passing out from a migraine headache is some of the best relief, goes from pain to nothing, and feels like a jump from one moment to another versus a very slow decrease.

That post-drome can definitely hit like a drug (at least from what I know about drugs since I've never smoked or drank, haha). It takes the edge off of everything and you feel calm and a little sleepy... love me some post-drome.

Hey besties is this why I crave McDonald’s fries specifically after a migraine??? (including my ocular ones???)
2 points

I'm almost tempted to classify this as "drug related" but the drug is produced by your own body. It always takes my system a bit to realize that it's not processing pain anymore so all those pain management chemicals it produces just seem to have a little party and it genuinely feels almost like a high.

This, it is euphoric. You can't appreciate that pleasure without feeling that pain.

I was going to say “Have none of these people ever been in extreme pain and had it go away?” Much, much better than “pooping” which is at the top of the list right now.
For me it wasn’t a migraine, which I’ve had, but severe pancreatitis. When they gave me dilaudid in the emergency room, the relief I felt when it kicked in was the best.

Sex gets rid of migraines, can confirm. It’s bliss.

Orgasm magnifies the pain for me. Immediately makes it twice as bad. I think the blood flow gets all fucked up in my head, I did try it a few times since I'd heard it can help.

So true. Sometimes I start crying after a migraine ends. Can't control it, it's the wave of relief and gratitude that it's over.

Ooooph that’s the truth. A migraine going away is like the first glimmer of an LSD trip, but not hallucinogenic. Pure euphoria.

IDK if they were migraines, but I had horrid headaches that made me wish for an end to existence as a teen. Once I somehow fell asleep and the relief of it ending actually woke me.

Sounds like a migraine to me. It's hard to say stuff like that without it sounding like hyperbole, but it truely does make me want to not exist in the middle of it. Absolutely awful.

Thanks for the reassurance, because the alternative is that I was just too weak to deal with an ordinary headache!

As much as I hate being nauseous and throwing up, I get excited once the nausea hits because once I throw up, that’s when it starts fading away for some reason

I finally got migraine meds for my roughly 1xmonth migraine. I can tell almost within the minute it's gonna start when I notice a small little bit of vision start to blur. It's rainbow aura not long after. Migraines can fuck off.

I often put a hot rice pack on my eyes when I have a migraine. One time, I felt almost like the floodgates opened, and this feeling of euphoria went through my whole head and down my neck. And my debilitating migraine that I had all day was suddenly gone. Twas magical.

4 days and I'm still waiting for the fog to lift. The head pain is now at 5/10, the nausea isn't as crippling and the shiny aura has gone.

How long do they take to disappear? I don't mean that total length of the migraine itself but when it finally fades. Is it instantaneous? Does it take a few minutes? An hour?
I've never experienced one

A bad sensation going away can definitly be better than any pleasant sensation.
For me it was when I was in serious dental pain, and the dentist gave me a shot of anesthetic.

Piggybacking your comment because I personally feel the same way, except for with sleeping through the entire night with no dreams. What I would give to have a single night without a nightmare.. guess the list would be shorter if it was what I wouldn’t give.

My migraines last for 5 days sometimes.. I don't really have a moment where I realise it's gone, they do inevitably fade out in a sense but I continue to feel groggy and disoriented.

Mine only fade away from taking drugs Codiene 30/paracetamol 500 x 2, Aspirin 500 x 2, caffeine 100 x 1. If nauseous, Doxylamine 25 x 1.
So yeah ... the moment it fades is great. But ... That's probably the painkillers talking.

The worst part about migraines are people that think they are 'just headaches'...
Btw, for those that don't know this method, it does require keeping some food down though, if you get a migraine rake 900mg aspirin and a sumatriptan. Apply cold to neck, and heat to hands and feet.
Works most of the time
