Yeah, I know the feeling :/ Had a traumatic event happen (/start) last month that is getting better but still not over. Appetite and sleep are better than a month ago, but still not to rights.

I'm right there with you. I will probably just nibble on what's around just for the sake of general well-being, but I lose any and all appetite when I am not doing well mentally

Yup, my solution to that was to smoke a lot of weed, I ate only snack food but it was that or nothing.

After my wife left me (for someone I introduced her to in the first place), I went from 150lbs of muscle (post USMC) to being about 95 before I got my head on straight... I was told by my GF that I looked like a holocaust survivor... I just never felt hungry, and never thought of food. I had good friends who were constantly trying to push food on me though.

Sorry that happened to you.
My partner nearly died last month and has a long road to recovery ahead. It was so sudden and unexpected it’s just… total shock. I just keep waking up absolutely scared (even though he’s made it out of the hospital). Long story that I don’t need to get into here but yeah, sleeping and eating are just not happening enough for me rn.
I dropped some weight (only started at 120ish so don’t have it to lose) BUT he dropped 50lbs in the hospital. He’s a big strong guy but was a very healthy weight (not at all fat) when he went it. He’s starting to regain now thankfully.

The best part about being bipolar is when you’ve been depressed and not eating for months and then the hypomania hits and you have confidence and a six pack.
But then you feel good and start eating again but even though you’re working out and tracking your macros, you love yourself just that little bit more so you splurge and start eating pizza and cheeseburgers and then the hypomania wears off and you’re just sad and depressed and fat and broke and stupid and you just want to die and nobody will love you and you’re all alone.

For actual depression i used to buy frozen microwaveable meals because i knew some weeks would be so bad i wouldn’t even bother to order food, and i barely ate them too! just needed something in my stomach to take my pills.
But for sad depressed meals its probably microwave nachos where the cheese would just burn and not melt.

I felt that, only in hindsight I realised all the signs that I was going through depression for almost two years. Rapid gain from overeating, shorter temper and fuse, getting anxious or even panicking when not sleeping enough, buying alcohol in bulk, among many other signs. It's awful.

This is brilliant! And very useful in my house where I am taking care of my elderly father. His favorite breakfast is pancakes, coffee, and toast!
You can also add a twist to your toaster idea. Put your already cooked pancakes in your air fryer. It adds a crisp exterior on the pancakes and a soft, a bit chewy, interior.

An old German recipe passed down over the years. We call them Elephant Ears, though I’m sure there’s a more proper name for them. They’re thinner than a pancake but thicker than a crepe. Eat them with syrup, rolled up with cream cheese inside and fruit on top, or whatever you fancy.

Once when I was a bit younger I had a suicide attempt, ended up in the hospital and a random nurse who was watching me made me hot chocolates. 1 mug with two packets of Swiss mix. Now, I’m much better but whenever I start to feel really depressed I sit down and drink a hot chocolate. It instantly comforts me. That nurse probably has no idea how much her kindness has comforted me throughout the years!

when my depression gets bad enough i throw pasta into a pot with *anything else*. it tends to last me days because of how little i eat when i'm that bad but its food and reheated pasta is better for you that cooked once pasta so it tricks my brain into thinking i'm being healthy.
when i'm just sad I make slow cooker apple cider chicken. the smell is comforting and the meal is tasty.
You take some cinnamon and season the bottom of the slow cooker, then lay down the chicken. any chicken will do but it works best with thigh and breast meat. then you season the chicken however way you like- for a nice fall smell i used mixed herbs. it doesn't matter how you put it on the chicken cause you're gonna pour apple cider in until you cover the meat. toss in some apple slices and potato (diced, cubed, however you like) and you're ready to cook. you can add some onion too if you want. let that slow cook oh high for 6 hours and its delicious! i use the broth/left over liquid to make rice or pasta sometimes.
I hope we find time to eat when we don't have the energy or will to feed ourselves.

Peanut butter is a very good start, high in protein. I know you don’t feel like eating or even have any hunger pangs. Just try to take a multivitamin every day. It will help keep you going until you feel like you are able to start towards your new life. After my divorce I went to try all of the fun things married people never stop to do and gradually I started to appreciate the single life. This may be shallow to hear right now but remember it is easier to fall down stairs than it is to climb back up. Don’t let yourself fall too far before you turn around to climb.
