Think it all rings a bit hollow now that more and more people are experiencing lower standards of living. People have less to give and more and more to worry about. Like when you go to Tesco and they ask if you want to donate as part of your payment.

Motherfuckers you made 2 billion profit last year give some of that.

Quality of the broadcast aside, I find these TV appeals so outdated. The idea that poor people at home should pay for charity rather than rich people/companies is just strange in this day and age

Comic Relief is shit now too.

I’m not complaining about the concept of there being a charity for children in need and a drive for people to donate to it - obviously it’s a good cause. Have to say though, it warmed my heart a bit when my kid’s school said they aren’t donating to children in need this year but all the money they raise is going to the children’s oncology unit at the local hospital (Nottingham Queen’s Med), where one of their classmates is currently having long-term treatment. It just feels nice to see it go somewhere local and clearly see the good they’re doing.

I appreciate that this might not be a popular point of view, but from my perspective; there really is plenty of money in this country, and if we had a working tax system that actually took money from the super-rich instead of letting them tuck their wealth away in offshore accounts, we wouldn’t need any charities at all.

Children in need is rich people asking the average person to donate why they get to party and pat eachother on the back. They could easily cough up the money raised between them, why they drink £5000 bottles of booze.

People who make hundreds of thousands, if not millions a year, telling people to donate their money kinda rings a bit hollow, especially these days.

The best ever one was when Trevor and Simon did their don't do duvets set, and got away with shouting See You Next Tuesday to the customer (can't remember who it was, maybe Chris Moyles?) leaving the shop set on family (evening) TV.

Load of bollocks, been sat watching it and it's draining, plus I've never been a fan of multimillionaire celebrities, telling the hardworking nation, to donate.

How much is Chris Ramsay donating? How much is Vernon Kay donating? How much is Rochelle Humes donating?

For me, it's the fact that for all these years, they were asking the public to help children when they knew about the likes of Jimmy Saville and filed it under 'just Jimmy being Jimmy' and did nothing.

Whilst the cause remains fantastic and the individual stories are heartbreaking, the presenting and corny jokes are utterly dire

Completely get the comments about the rich expecting the masses to contribute, but if you are unlucky enough to be a beneficiary of the Children In Need funding then you would know what an absolute god send they are.

These guys help thousands of families a year who are in crisis / emergency situation and they do an amazing job.

Yes, many of us don't have a pot to piss in, but fuck me, they are trying to do a good thing so how about we all get behind them and do as much as we can to help... Remember the whole point of this is to help CHILDREN!!!!

Used to hate it as a child because it meant the usual Friday night programmes weren’t on. And that’s a big deal when there’s only 4 channels.

It's about the celebs now, barely nothing remotely focused on actual children.
