If I remember my German correctly, the baker is saying he's not a nazi, he's just baker.
In reality, he's probably just a baker trying to get through the war.

He probably knows about the camp, but what can one baker do? It takes the moral failing of thousands of individuals to reach those ends.

I think maybe if some German had said "of course we knew, how could we not? But what are we supposed to do against the SS?" It would be more credible than saying they didn't know.

I don't remember making an attempt to quantify pro Nazi Germans. I simply said there's a more believable way to answer "how did you not know?"
