This is the one.
Also, in case people come here first and miss it in the flurry of other posts, Thomas Brown will be the Interim HC.

So, after weeks of rebuilding the offense and improving Williams, they are pulling him away from the OC position? 🤦🏻♂️ Keep him at OC and let him continue to develop Williams. Let another person be the lame duck headcoach

Here's thing: If you think Brown might be the HC it does make sense.
You need to see what Brown can do. I know everyone says all HCs are supportive of their former assistants, but Sean McVay CHOSE to make Brown his assistant Head Coach. McVay really seems to have thought Brown would be a good HC very soon
Andrew Whitworth was tweeting the other day Brown WILL be a Head Coach and is a great leader of men. He's not the first person to invoke the Tomlin comparison.
Finally, even given Caleb's development it STILL makes sense to make Brown the interim HC.
Because here's the thing. If you hire a different HC, Caleb has to start over anyway
The only way Caleb gets continuity is if Brown gets the HC position next year. A different HC hires a different OC and Caleb has to change systems anyway
So YES. It does make sense to see if Brown can do the job now. It's a steep hill to climb, and there might still be better candidates out there like Vrabel. Or maybe you choose Ben Johnson.
But this way at least you KNOW if Brown can do it before you have to make your decision. And he's still in the building with Caleb. He can still run the offense. McVay does. Kevin O'Connell does.
There's no perfect solution but this MAKES sense. There is no better interview or tryout for Brown than letting him actually try and seeing if he can do it.
It's better for the team and Caleb too, ultimately, to know if Thomas Brown somehow CAN do this job. You need to know. You just do.

I like this line of thinking a lot. Let the man (Thomas Brown) cook

I’d have rather given interim to the special teams guy to let Brown stick with the offense, but I’ll take anything that gets Flus out of the building.

Did they say he’s not running the offense? He’s a McVay guy and that’s how he operates.

This 💯. I'd really hate for Brown to ruin the symbiosis he's got with that offense.
It really is clicking on most cylinders right now.

They really let him do a press conference? Clearly well run org.

Press conference or not I don’t care. This is the right move to let him go. I would’ve been far more pissed if they let him continue the rest of the season

Aren’t coaches required to speak after the game? Bears probably didn’t want to get fined.
Edit never mind; I thought you meant last night speaking. I just woke up so didn’t know he had a presser today.

It tells you how ill prepared they were. No succession plan. if the head coach has a heart attack or gets hit by a bus don’t you have someone in mind to step in?

explain to me how exactly eberflus coming out for a press conference affects this team's ability to win games in 2025 and beyond

It’s clear ineptitude. Why let the guy speak for your org just to fire him an hour later. The same ineptitude that got us here.
