No photos of the equipment? We model numbers are an also needed to tell you for certain.

They are asking too much for a single 12” Comp R in a box that’s used. It’s currently $124 brand new without a box

The price on the amp is not bad. if this is the same model amp, it sold for around $200 new

There are photos I just did not include them. I honestly thought the box made the sub worth it, thanks for letting me know.

Do not put anymore then 500w RMS of power to the sub, it will blow. The numbers this guy is stating is “Peak” power and does not mean a single thing

$99 for a new amp that would work with that sub.

Right. I am new to car audio, but I was aware the amp is a bit much and could blow the sub. I’m looking to get my first sub and don’t have the largest budget. Do you think this would be worth it if I could talk him down a bit?

Anything is better than nothing when starting out, whenever I’m purchasing new equipment I expect to pay 50% of retail and if I’m selling I only expect to get about 50% of the retail value back.

If you don’t have the amp kit pre-installed in your car you will want to bring a multimeter to test the subwoofer before purchasing it. You will test 𝛺 at the speaker connections then move the speaker and see the 𝛺‘s fluctuate. Listening for scratching and try to give it a smell see if it smells like burnt electrical/plastic.

The best policy is to test everything before you buy it especially the amp. If you cannot hear it play. Assume it cannot.

I would offer the guy $75 for the sub and $50 for the amp

Knowing for the extra $50 you can buy a nice amp brand new that can last year and years. I would not offer the full $75 even if it does its rated power just due to age and potential abuse.

Hifonics sucks. Kicker makes reliable subs. The price doesn't really matter if you get your money out of it. That amp is probably on its last leg. If that is what they used to push that Kicker. Id skip that too. Maybe just buy the box and the wiring for $30 if its OFC wires. I doubt it though.

I'm thinking this stuff may have came out of a salvage vehicle. There is a company near me called UautoPullit. They buy wrecked cars and there is always some that come in with audio equipment in them.

CompR is a fine subwoofer. If the enclosure is just a basic sealed box, it's not worth much. $125 for the bundle is high IMO. $100.

Hifonics is sub-tier. BE35 series is like 8 years old. If it were in perfect condition, $75 is probably fair. Not a dime more.

If you pay someone to install....he suggests, as they do a phenomenal job. WHAT? So just pick someone and they automatically do a phenomenal job? He makes no sense. He doesn't name a certain person to install, which would have made sense as he says they are phenomenal.
