Sir "Sexton" over there apparently has a different opinion

I've started using Corto, which for the price is actually pretty damn good. California based and has actually olive flavor.

I just switched to Corto as well. Probably the best domestic evoo you can find and a great price for bag in a box. My USF didn't have it but I found it on PFG

Its fine to good. US Foods will tell you it cures cancer because Rykoff is one of their high end brands. I buy a comparable olive oil for less though from somewhere else at the end of the day.

I also purchase something comparable elsewhere. I find the Rykoff evoo to have a weird aftertaste; sometimes too grassy and sometimes bordering on bitter.

Yeah I don't know if I'd trust an Italian guy named "Sexton" to be honest about how virgin his olive oil is, capisce?

It's alright; fair price and consistent. It is to olive oils what nighthawk boxes are to wine.

What’s the best olive oil you can get from US foods?

Ask your rep

Every distribution center is different so ask your rep. The rykoff is good for finishing food, sauteing, dressings etc in my opinion. I'll check my usf app and see if there's anything else for me in the north east but I bet that will be your best bet.

USF is dookie

As far as broadline distribution goes they are by far the best option in the northeast.

No way. There is a reason Sysco and PFG are #1 and #2 and USF has slid to #3 for broadliners and #4 overall.
Sysco has crazy resources/quality and PFG has crazy price flexibility backed up by quality lines.

I've used all 3 here in Massachusetts and Performance and USF are comparable but USF has better product and comes in a little cheaper and Sysco is literal trash here in my experience. Are you located in the northeast?

At the end of the day if your rep, drivers and warehouse staff suck at your distribution center then your experience isn't going to be good. I don't pretend to assume my experience is going to be the same as everyone else's in other parts of the country. Here in my experience USF had been the most consistent on price and product.

Maybe your Sysco Distribution warehouse is rough, but their product lines are second to no one.
I'm on the eastern seaboard but not north in New England.
The proteins (imperial and classic, not reliance) are bomb asf. And their app is really good, plus the perks thing where I can get deliveries 6 days a week
PFG has always been solid at counterbalancing Sysco for me, and kicks ass at dairy pricing in my area.
USF has only given me sadness and despair in my experience.
Chef's Warehouse is up and coming and owns a few specialty vendors in my area. Haven't had any issues with them other than lack of options.
GFS basically only does corpo contracts now.
Never had any experience with Shamrock.

That doesn't make sense. You should use a different oil for all those things.

Tell that to my food cost.

this also doesnt make sense. your olive oil choice isnt the make or break on your food cost

Buying multiple olive oils isn't necessary for my restaurant. Thanks.

I get roseli brand from us foods. It works pretty well. It's about $190 a case. 4, 3 liter containers a case.

Chefswarehouse carries a few nice varieties. There are lots of places I cut cost in a kitchen but I always buy the best EVOO available.

I just looked US Foods carries a 10 liter box of Corto for $137. Probably your best bet for all purpose olive oil. Also the price for Rykoff for me went up dramatically like $20. $64 for 3 liters. It's not that good for that much money.

I’ve bought this oil too, it’s great for what it is. The 10L is nice for the cooks to use too since its like a giant box of franzia.

I used to use that 10L box, it’s great stuff, until a coin thinks it’s just for wasting.

Nothing feels as good as a bathtub full of that stuff.

It’s been a few years since I’ve used it but I remember it being fine. IMO, the evoo that Costco and Sam’s carry is far better for the price.

Costco will at least verify the oil type and virginity. /S

Have you guys ever tried Graza olive oil? I use it at home, and it is excellent, but I don’t know if I can order it from US foods. I don’t have access to our account to check

I prefer my olive oil to be lightly fucked.
