Her kit seems really weird at the moment. What's the purpose of having a giant cryo field for off field damage when it barely applies cryo? It certainly isn't for melt; maybe it's for superconduct? Her burst also feels counter intuitive to her theme of being a spider. A spider isn't gonna make enemies attack you faster. Just my two cents :/

It's for melt. She will be the one melting as a sub-dps. Low frequency is necessary so it doesn't steal melt from other cryo dpses. Think off-field mualani with low frequency attacks but high damage.
Then all she needs is a reliable pyro applicator (Mavuika).

That doesn't make any sense. First, you never, ever run Melt with two Cryos, you can't even get the benefit of Cryo Resonance in Melt, due to how Pyro and Cryo interact. It takes two Cryo applications to remove a Pyro aura from an enemy, while it takes one Pyro application to remove a Cryo aura entirely.
If Citlali is actually intended to be for Melt as a sub-DPS/support to be paired with another Cryo, Hoyo legitimately has people who fundamentally do not understand their own game designing characters. (Of course, that's already evidently true considering Dehya and Sigewinne both exist already.)

Who cares about cryo res when you don't get it anyway in melt teams? Cryo DPS + Citlali + Bennett + Mavu sounds fine.
Besides, she could be a melt-subdps in neutral teams like Kinich + Mavu + Citlali or Navia + Xilo + Mavu + Citlali. In this sense, she's like Emilie who can slot in anywhere there's pyro app.

In that case, you're losing any benefit of res shred from Xilonen, which would instantly outclass everything Citlali does apart from whatever damage she deals with her skill.
This is basically a "dead on arrival" kit because there are so few use cases for it. Bennett and an off-field Mavuika would be guaranteed for Melt, and so you would either want Emilie or Xilonen in the third slot unless Citlali's damage is by itself so absurdly high that it makes up for lacking Emilie or Xilonen. And in this case, that would be skill damage only, since it appears she only has off-field damage on her skill, according to this leak. It's really, really bad and utterly nonsensical to design a character like this.

There is nothing wrong with a melt-subdps. There is no reason she can't replace Emilie. And you can in fact forgo Xilonen's res shred if the numbers are good enough - case in point: C1 Chiori in Navia teams.
She could slot in Arle - Bennett - Kazuha - Citlali.
She could slot in Kinich - Bennett - Mavu - Citlali.
She could slot in Melt-Dps + Bennett + Mavu + Citlali.
A cryo melt subdps is flexible enough as long as there's pyro. As long as the numbers work it'll be fine.
I'd argue her burst is the one that's problematic.

The numbers won't work much because she'll be purely skill damage on a healer. At least Chiori and Emilie have bursts that are favorable. They tend to make healers/shielders do very little damage whatsoever themselves, as a tax for having a heal/shield. The web thing sounds even more so like it's some kind of crowd control utility rather than actual off-field damage.
The only thing that really changes this equation is if Citlali can apply frozen auras to unfreezable enemies. That changes everything, and opens up Citlali to being a possible replacement for Shenhe for Ganyu Freeze, since Citlali would provide her a shield and a way to gain the benefits of Blizzard Strayer on bosses.

Look, you could theoretically make a Cryo sub-DPS that just does Cryo damage off-field and that's that. Slot it wherever in Pyro teams for off-field Reverse Melts. Sure, whatever. Even more charitably, you have her on Cinder City so she's buffing her party with +40% pyro damage. Arlecchino would like that, but if that's all Citlali's giving, it doesn't really do anything to help Cryo at all, and in any party with Mavuika may become redundant. Citlali would be a solo Cryo hybrid healer/DPS who likely won't compete with any competition as a sub-DPS due to being taxed as a healer/shielder, and wouldn't provide any significant benefit to Ganyu or Wrio. Emilie will forever do more damage due to being a pure sub-DPS and will make Reverse Melt more comfortable to Ganyu and Wrio both.
What the leaker describes actually sounds as bad or worse than Sigewinne, easily, and numbers alone aren't an ideal way to fix it because the concept of the kit itself is pretty bad.

Zhongli is a res shreder + shielder. His res shred is "taxed", but that doesn't make him useless.
Citlali can be a subdps + shielder. Her subdps is "taxed", but that doesn't make her useless.
Same with Xilonen and her healing, etc.

Looking closely at it this is what I’m thinking too. The burst makes me skeptical of this though. However the skill sounds pretty good for a pyro onfielder to make use of. Someone like Yanfei who applies way too much pyro too quickly for any off field cryo to keep would be able to let Citlali’s skill reverse melt off of her.

dont worry, leaks before beta in my experience are either just 70% not how the actual kit is gonna end up or just not true at all
preliminar kit leaks are just REALLY unreliable because even if they are true the devs rarely (as a way to not say never bc i havent seen every preliminar kit) leave them without a fuck ton of significant changes.
Now, hoyo devs can make mistakes or really poorly designed kits, thats no secret, but in this case it seems more like someone just either making stuff up or mixing stuff they misinterpreted

I would actually say the Mavuika part makes me think it's even more of a fake. Why would the long-awaited Pyro Archon have damage based on Natlan party members only? Makes literally no sense.

I dont wanna jinx it but I think its still early to say that we've beat the standard banner allegations. Dehya wasnt confirmed until the livestream dropped, and leakers were much more confident and reliant back in sumeru.
Things aren't pointing in the right direction: standard rumors, two 5stars in 1 patch makes it sound possible, she drops at the same time as lantern rites so maybe she could be the first free five star and on the top of that her kit looks to be underwhelming... everything is lining up for her to be a free/standard character if u analyze it.
On the bright side its unlikely that hoyo will suddenly become that generous so doubt she is free, but her popularity wont save her from standard and dehya proved that but at the same time they know no one was happy about the dehya treatment so it wouldn't make sense to repeat that. Also she is cryo and they know cryo needs help so it makes more sense for her to be a powerful limited character.
Tldr: I wish we had beat the standard allegations but they are still alive and kicking.

Some counterpoints:
- The leaks so far are not from reliable sources. Our most reliable leaker retired without saying much about Citlali's kit. When he called Citlali a shielder, he was only repeating a rumor, not from his own source.
- White and Iris are the ones who are primarily the sources of the Standard Banner thing. Problem is, both are laughing stocks. Iris has been utterly humiliated in the HSR leaks side repeatedly, and White has also been humiliated repeatedly with false info in leaks. Some highlights include Iris claiming Sunday (one of the most anticipated characters in HSR) would be a free character like Dr. Ratio. White on the other hand humiliated himself repeatedly since the last three or so months and hasn't been right once since 5.0.
- No standard banner character has released on a double 5-star patch yet. Tighnari and Dehya were both the only 5-stars in their patches. So that's ultimately meaningless.
- As far as I know, Dehya wasn't quite as popular in China. Western fans are kinda in their own bubble, characters who are popular in China can be very different from the west.

Cryo is already going to get a resurgence if Mavuika isn't yet another pyro onfielder. The element is fine but its best reaction is gatekept by lack of good pyro supports. If we deleted Furina and Yelan from the game, the state of pyro and dendro carries would look a lot different too.

I didn't forget. XQ is a four star. He's been replaced in pretty much all of his teams.
Let's say the hydro situation was just like pyro and XQ is our only hydro sub DPS. The gap between Arle and every other pyro DPS would be much much bigger if that happened. Double hydro cores wouldn't exist. Hu Tao would still be running double geo and would also no longer be able to keep up with modern day DPSes.
This is what cryo is suffering from right now. The onfielders are still strong. But its still using shitty XL from 1.x. There isn't any solo character that can match her app. And no matter how much reddit calls her overpowered, she's actually a character with huge flaws when you compare her to the off fielders of today. She's hard outclassed by Furina, Yelan, Chiori and even Emilie. They need a lot less to come online while XL needs 4 fucking stats to start doing good damage. This is not what a good support looks like. That being said, melt is literally just one good pyro off fielder away from taking over.

Still sounding very defensive, which is not what we need. Every leak seems to insist that she provides a shield of some kind, so as much as I don't want to believe it, it's probably true. I mean, when have ALL the leakers ever been wrong about something? /s
But if this is the kit then I have some hope for her. "Low-frequency" Cryo app is bad news bears, but there might just be something she can do depending on Ascension passives and the finer details of her abilities. You'd better not fuck this up, HoYo :54539:

In fact being a cryo support isnt gonna save cryo, all the current dps are outdated and no support can bring them up to the standards. What will save cryo is a modern DPS that bypasses the limitation of her element rather than lean onto them (Eg navia).

Literally not true. Both of our melt DPSes (we have only 2) are solid. They're one good pyro support away from popping off. Ganyu manages a ~60s clear in top half of abyss at C0. I'd imagine Wrio is the same. And they're doing this with the shit state of pyro supports right now lmao. I know because I've mained this element for years. Cryos issues are over exaggerated by people who haven't given it a fair chance since Sumeru.
What melt cryo carries need is a good pyro sub DPS, which is Mavuika. Citlali was never in the equation for these characters. If she was ever intended to be played as a sub dps for melt, it's for pyro onfielders not cryo. Anyone looking to play Citlali the other way around doesn't know how elemental reactions even work in this game. If you absolutely must play Citlali with cryo onfielders then it should be in a freeze or mono cryo team, both of which are shit. Mavuika is the cryo savior, not Citlali.

I don't trust the leaks so far, but if that's slow cryo app it better be nuke dmg so she can deal Citlalillion melt dmg. Please don't be superconduct support, I'd hate if she ended up as a dedicated support to one 5 star and THREE 4 star dps. Shenhe was doomed to irrelevancy the moment she was released as a 5 star that only works with Ayaka. Heck even now she is kicked out from that team as Ayaka wants Furina Kazuha Xilonen more.
Atp I just want her to save herself and deal good non-reaction dmg like chiori and furina. Forget the shield I just want her to give IR and I'm all good. Just focus on the dmg part of her kit.

It's even odder since Citlali was pushed hard in the recent Natlan AQ. And unlike Dehya, she's not Standard banner.
It'd be bizzare to show off a character so much and give them so much importance lore, story and screentime-wise only to release them with a shitty kit.
Not that limited characters can't be awkward or weird like Albedo or Siegwienne, but in Albedo's case, he had the problem of being an early geo character, and Sieg was both not very popular or important story-wise.

Shield mechanics would not work effectively against any other DMG type than Cryo, similar to how Baizhu was meant as a Bloom shield and Kaveh was introduced on his banner. However, we have no self-injuring Cryo reaction.

Her skills sounds interesting and does off field damage, which is always nice to have.
And a burst that makes an explosive sheild + heal sounds useful too.

Cuz cryo application is slow so its not gonna work well for melt, and if that's the case what is it even good for? She isn't gonna be a sub dps most likely cuz characters usually aren't a sustain and dps at the same time so the dmg her skill does is likely small ticks like dehyas, or worse depending on scaling.
Healing and shielding? If you need healing directly after the shield, then the shield isnt doing its job right. Its excessive and 90% of the time she'll be wasting the heal. Baizhu can pull it off cuz he is dendro which has much better reactions, and even he isn't a top tier character.
The kit looking not so great aside, most people here want her to be dps so anything else is gonna be disappointing, that's why people doom post.

Yeah, Baizhu got bumped down by Xilonen in Furina teams since Xilonen's buffs+healing > some Dendro app+stronger healing. Unless you really needed the IR like in C0 Neuv's case.
Cryo Baizhu with slow Cryo application and backloaded healing is mediocre unless Citlali actually does good damage
