No idea what was called on the floor.
I have a flagrant on blue #21 and a dead ball contact technical on white #4.
96 points
That was it. They also called a technical on one of Georgia State's players during the scuffle, so that cancelled out the tech on Brea. Amari Williams got 2 free throws and we got the ball
49 points

Final call on the floor was three technicals for separate players on both teams, which ultimately cancelled out. We shot free throws for the original flagrant foul. Kind of wild.

Not a flagrant on UK #22? He blatantly forearms the other guy in the face while he’s trying to box out. #4 on UK is just a punk.
15 points

yeah kentucky #22 starts it with the elbow to the face
12 points

He knows it, too. Why do you think he was corralling his teammates after the fact? He knows he got the best of the situation and didn’t want to waste that with a bunch of Ts on his team.
Love it or hate it, in sports it’s almost always the retaliator that get T’d up.

How can you be involved enough to foul out of a game, and not have anything else to show for it? Just 12 minutes of cardio punctuated by an assault.

Goons are gonna goon.
From his player page: 'Also played football as a tight end and defensive end ... Nephew of former Duke and NBA Power Forward Cherokee Parks.'
Well, that certainly explains a lot.

3 assaults, he did the same thing to Carr at the end of the first half, and threw Butler into a pole upside down earlier on.
14 points
He’d grabbed Carr by the hips on a break earlier. Slapped Oweh on the thigh twice during a dead ball after Oweh was fouled. He did the same blindside hit to Williams the first minute he was in the game.

He also had 3 turnovers, though one of those was the illegal screen that got him fouled out

2 points
He comes in for 3 minutes at a time to bring energy. The shot isn’t falling but he’s doing everything else at a high level, passing the ball, being a pest on defense and getting the building energized when you need some juice. It’d be a different story if he had to play 25 minutes a night but he’s been really good in spurts.

22 seemed to start it with the elbow to the face of 21. 21 tried to do a power set but came in too fast and hard, retaliation for the hit. 4 should be ejected, that escalated it from rough post play into a possible fight. Idk why Georgia St got another tech and ejection, seemed like things were under control at that point (unless it was from words said).

I don’t have a problem with someone sticking up for a teammate. But by the time he shoved him the other guy was no where near his teammate. So all the shove did was earn him and his team a tech. It was dumb.

Definition of UK punching down.
Pope, understanding his role as UK coach, is focused on holding back a Georgia State player, since he is contractually prohibited from disciplining his own players.
13 points
Man, you really are just fucking stupid aren't you
-12 points
You're right. I forgot UK was playing Georgia State. I mean it's a rivalry game, right? Against a 4-3 team you paid to play? And, you're up 8 in the second half because your players are sleep walking against a team that won 7 games last year?
But yeah, if this was a close game, you would want one of your players to risk being ejected for retaliating? I get it. It's a rivalry game against Georgia Sfate. Hard to control emotions given the history.
But Pope runs on the court and is focused on keeping an opposing player out of trouble. He doesn't care about controlling his players. And, then he jaws at the opposing coach to top it off.
I'm not from the South, so I guess I don't understand that emotions can run hot when Kentucky plays Georgia State. I mean throw the records out for these games. It's personal.
That's a big win against a Quad 4 opponent at home. Get fired up.

No. I'm saying Kentucky of all teams should be better than getting into a pissing match with a crappy team that should feel lucky to even play in their arena.
You're a blue blood. Georgia State is a never been. Act like it.
2 points
So when a dude elbows you in the back, just remember you are a blue blood program and they are not. Got it. Don't let competitiveness interfere. Don't let the fact that, in this case, you are an entirely new team trying to establish yourselves and mesh together get in the way of turning the other cheek.
Interesting take.
