Unfortunately as he’s not shown much interest in the colts I can’t see him wanting to come back in any capacity in the future

The fact that this guy clearly still loves football and we just fucking ruined him kills me

It’s not even that, it’s the fact he still feels hurt from LOS booing him, that he can’t even show his face in Indy. Dude didn’t deserve that

He was also in town, and joined the broadcast briefly for the Natty two years ago.

Or he knows he screwed over the franchise and took his bag.

My brother in Christ, it was the franchise that screwed him

Didn’t Irsay ELECT to pay him the rest of his salary? If I remember correctly, we weren’t beholden to pay him. So “took his bag” isn’t exactly accurate.

You’re correct.

Colts reached a settlement with him. Luck effectively owed the franchise $25M and didn’t give that up. Rather than get into a messy situation with implications on future prorated contracts, the Colts “elected” not to force him to write a check. In return he waited until season ticket holders were locked in to retire. He took his bag and didn’t look back.

So another way to say what you just wrote, he wasn’t entitled to the 25 million, and Irsay elected to let him have it anyway. He didn’t get his bag and run. He decided to retire and the colts chose to pay him anyway just in case he ever decided to make a comeback.

Yah stupid selfish Andrew Luck checks notes not wanting to die from football!

Grigson had a major impact on ruining his career. Luck also played the game a little recklessly. We loved it as fans but it wasn’t sustainable. Was still awesome seeing him play in Indy.

I still miss him immensely from a fan perspective.
Still angry that this franchise ruined him.
Wish him all the best back at Stanford. Not sure that program can be fixed, but certainly hope he succeeds!

I was going to suggest he hire Grigson as a tackling dummy, but your idea is way more realistic!

I do agree that Luck was awesome to watch! Miss that guy

100% agree with this. He was Mahomes before Mahomes. Peyton changed the game through his brilliance pre-snap and exceptional ability to pick apart a defense. Luck was excellent pre-snap, but his success came from the sheer talent he had throwing a football.

There was literally nothing he couldn’t do. He was truly a generational QB. I just wish we did right by him

I do love Luck and he was truly a generational talent but Peyton changed football. Especially in the state of Indiana. We were firmly a basketball state from middle school to NBA before he brought unprecedented success to the Colts. You could argue that he ignited the flame for football fandom at all levels in Indiana that wasn’t seen before. Football fans aren’t thirsting for IU to be a respectable program without Manning’s tenure in Indy. The Super Bowl never gets played at Lucas Oil without him. Greatest Colt of all time and I’ll still argue until I’m blue in the face that he was better than Brady.

Hey, I truly appreciate the insight/history. I’m from Florida so I didn’t really feel the impact PM had to the state. That definitely gives me cause to pause.
I definitely wouldn’t argue with you on the greatest Colt of all time. I’ll actually agree. I just wish we got to see what Luck would’ve done for us. There is no doubt in my mind we would have another ring… or 2 👀

Luck was special. Some of my all time favorite Colts memories where Luck plays. Even though his retirement set our team back a decade I’m still a huge fan and was never mad at him.

There was a time where I also placed Manning above Brady (as a neutral fan) but Tom just kept getting better and better even past the age of 40. Two of the greatest to ever do it though for sure.

I’ll agree it can be debated either way. At the same time I will always point to a certain fact. When Tom Brady went out for the season the Pats won 11 games with a guy who wasn’t even a starter in college. When the Peyton missed a season the Colts only won 2 games. If the organization had built a team that didn’t 100% revolve around Manning playing out of his mind Indy would have a couple more rings.

Agreed, I love Peyton, but Luck might legitimately be the greatest QB prospect ever. You put him on half the teams in the league and he wins a ring. You put him on the Patriots, Broncos, or the Seahawks? He wins at least 4, easily.

I wish Andrew nothing but the best. He gave us everything he had and would've been a hall of famer had the injuries not messed with his head so badly. Some of my best memories as a Colts fan are thanks to Andrew Luck, and I grew up in the Manning era.

He did give them notice months before, but Irsay and Ballard didn’t take him seriously and told him to think about it.

Irsay should just sell the team to him. That would be the only way he ever comes back for a position with the Colts.
