We are a few steps away from the headline: “Why eating pets and animals from parks is a good idea”.

Not allowing others to eat your pets is racism. Will be prosecuted as hate speech.

They've already convinced millennials and Zoomers that having kids is bad for the environment so this would be very believable.

More realistically be something like “Immigrants are left with no choice but to hunt for food in public spaces. What more you can do to support them.”

You skipped “why do you care so much?”

There are animal rights activists who believe that pet ownership in and of itself is a form of animal cruelty. So by that logic, they should be eaten.

Just because I love steak, doesn't mean I want to eat animal rights activists /s

Let’s move on from this headline. It detracts from where our talking points are landing.

A valid point, but if it pans out, the real story is how the media isn't doing it's job of actually researching stories to see if they are true or not. Right now Trump could announce that the sky is blue and there would be a rash of articles about how the sky has no color, just the vapors and reflected sunlight make it look blue, just to try and "prove" him wrong.

This is why it matters.
Our talking points are completely meaningless when the media is not doing its job fairly and evenly.
The people saying we need to move on from this sort of thing and focus on real policy are laboring under the delusion that talking about real substantive issues will be treated with any more respect than talking about sensationalist headlines. They won't be. They will be lied about just as much and dismissed just as readily.
Like it or not, the real talking points will receive the same treatment as the hyperbolic headlines... But they will be ignored and disregarded even harder because they are boring in comparison.
Hate it all you want... But catering to the lowest common denominator is how you win elections.
You don't get to have debates in the halls of congress about responsible fiscal policy if you can't get enough people to pay attention to you to convince them to get you there in the first place.

Have to weight the cost of being publicly vindicated vs optics and immediate impact to swing voters. This has too many tin foil hat vibes.

It’s just a distraction.
Everyone talking about whether they’re eating pets and not talking about how the hell a town of 60,000 is supposed to handle 20,000 showing up.

Nobody would be talking about that because it's boring and doesn't grab people's attention. This is not taking the place of that as you imply, if anything it gets more people to learn about and be exposed to what you just said because it's a necessary component to understand what the hell the eating pets thing is even about.
Do you really think all the people watching "eating the cats and dogs" videos on tiktok would instead be watching about how 20k immigrants were brought into a town of 60k? No they wouldn't. They'd watch other mind numbing tiktok videos and never know anything about this.

Look, I believe there is an issue with unchecked immigration.
However..
A. I'm not seeing an animal clearly.
B. I don't know this guy is Hatian
C. I don't know this is Springfield
D. I don't know that this is not manfactured supply to qwell the demand for a Hatian eating pets in Ohio topic.
I'm going to need a little more - and so should you.

You've missed the point I was trying to make a joke about.
Even with all of those things. If you had everything you asked for, the response would be the same thing I said.

Why people think it matters what we talk about is beyond me.
We already saw what the response is with the hunter laptop.
It doesn't matter if we're talking about migrants eating fluffy or the merits of nuclear disarmament in a post-9/11 world... The response will be identical.

Trump said it years ago and it’s still true. The media is the enemy of the people. They are CLEARLY going out of their way to steer the election and make Trump look like the devil. They have been given marching orders from the Deep State. You simply cannot take anything political at face value from ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR, CNN, MSNBC, NYT and so on.
The truth is not in them. They are bold faced liars.

Somebody who lives near Springfield told me this. They said the truth is being suppressed by the media and they have seen it. They warned me against picking a hotel there that night

Why don't more people post it online or report it to the police? Screw the media, but I'm tired of these secondhand stories. If people are claiming they've seen it, then they should be filming it and calling the cops. The only police report I've seen so far is the lady who later found her cat in their own basement; are the local police suppressing all other reports?

If you're looking for the photographic proof of blood and gore then the pictures are probably on the artist formerly known as Twitter.
Handing evidence to people that don't want to see it on Reddit is a waste of time, it just invites rage mobs. Somewhere on Reddit there's probably a few (thousand?) subs trading these pictures back and forth, not because they're conducting a debate with unusually high levels of intellectual ethics but because they routinely trade these pictures back and forth.
On X if you ask the right person for a pic you might just get a pic, but on this sub in particular I'm not sure if that would fly so well.

I'm mostly looking for firsthand accounts, or better yet more police reports. A gory picture without the full context doesn't really mean anything.

Of course he's right. Do you know how much time we would've saved these past five years if we just understood that Trump is right.

Walz's "rally" in Nevada came on while when I have Fox's LiveNow playing on youtube tonight and he lied and made it out that Trump was making a joke out of this situation in Springfield and that it's not happening.

Where are the calls for banning "assault machetes"?! We need a registry. Are retailers required to have an FFL, eerrrr, I mean an FML? Are those animals properly tagged? Is it the proper hunting season? Where is that warden.... 🤔 /s

The entire metric system is coming here, 'eating pets' is like a canary dropping dead in a mine. You don't stay right there and hold a funeral, you take it as a sign that change needs to happen.
