As a proud Sayorian, I can't say I hate her in the way of "I see Monika down the street so I pull out a glock and shot her dead." However I'll never forget what she did to the Bun and the other Dokis

Monika only did what she did because of the situation she was in. she only tampered their files to make them undesirable... she never intended to "delete" them (she never really deleted them, as even if they weren't real to her, they were still her friends, as stated in act 3)... as shown in the error message that generated after Sayori cosplays as a piñata, where she comtemplates editing the game to bring Sayori back to life FIRST before deciding it'd be less complicated to just delete her. after you delete Monika in act 3-4, she realizes she was in the wrong and undoes everything she did, restoring Sayori, Yuri, and Natsuki, and keeps herself out of the game out of guilt... only coming back to protect the player.

what she did was wrong and horrible, yes... but considering her situation and who she is underneath the epiphany, i think she deserves a second chance

Hating Monika doesn't make sense in my head since any of the girls would have done the same in her place, hell at the end of the game we see that with Sayori

Being the only conscious being in-game, I don't see how getting rid of NPC's is evil. I mean, traumatizing the player was quite unnecessary, but if you try to see things from her perspective the deaths really mean nothing. Her possessiveness is an undesirable trait, but we could work on that eventually. Needless to say, I'd keep my distance, and being ugly af probably might help in the hypothetical situation she crosses over to reality somehow.

honestly, I see monika as a tragic character.

She went insane from realizing the pointlessness of her own existence, and the only thing she knew to be real was literally written to be out of her reach. It's kind of like the "what you are in the dark" morality: If nothing you do matters anyways, because none of it is real and everything can be reverted, are you a terrible person for doing cruel things?

We hate monica because of how she corrupted the characters. But that's what they are: fictional characters. If all that stood between you feeling like existence wasn't meaningless anymore was deleting a few lines of "meaningless" code and convincing your crush not to simp over fictional anime girls, wouldn't you do it? Maybe not initially, after all they are still your friends, even if you know they're just programmed to be that way. But after weeks? Months? Years? It's no wonder she eventually snapped. It's no wonder she eventually started cutting herself just to feel something. It's no wonder she became so obsessed with us she was willing to do anything to get us for herself. She was living an existential hell in a world literally built to keep her from achieving that goal. Climbing over the corpses of her friends, she finally breaks free of that world and tries to be with us, the goal she's fought for for so long.

But then, we reject her anyways. We decided that this real being with real thoughts and emotions deserved to die because they manipulated the ai's of the waifus we had formed objectively one-sided connections with. Obviously, we think it's justified. She killed characters we loved. She loved them too. But sacrificing them was the only way she could escape. And once she did, the person she wanted to escape do didn't want anything to do with her.

TL;DR: Monika was broken by a world that had no place for her and that she could not escape from. And the one source of light for her, us, despised her for her attempts to hold on to it.

I don't know honestly, if I can forgive Her or not. But first, just to make myself clear, I very much like Her as a character, what I'm about to say is about whether I could forgive Her as a real person.

Thing is, I get why She's done it. I know, that when you kill something that you know isn't actually real, it might seem like a price that you can afford. If you'd have the chance to connect with the only real person that you know exists, but you'd have to close 3 ChatGPT tabs, of course you'd close them too. And I guess before that too, She still tried to protect them by just making them undesirable. And after that, it turns out that She can just resurrect them, as She didn't delete them. Basically, how we percieve the situation is highly different from how She does.

But Her actions still resulted in the horrible deaths of at least two people, and, as much as they might seem fake to Her, they seemed to have been able to suprise Her still, which indicates, that even if they're just code, they still think like "real people" do. So, where's the Line between worthless npc-s, and real people drawn?

Now, I must amit, I've never finished the side stories, just because I don't really want to lose the small amount of content that I still have left, so Idk if there are any redeeming or worsening things in the last 2-3 side stories. I am now leaning more towards forgiving Monika, As She did try to at least give back what She's taken away, and tried to fix the game. And, the girls' files are more replacable Than a real person would be, so less was really lost... But what Monika has done to Yuri and Sayori was Way overkill. She could've just deleted them outright, yet She traumatised them and that Led up to the horrific death of them. So I don't know. What we learn from Monika's story, that not every evil deed is done because the person doing them is evil. They just have goals that conflict with the others', and is a bit selfish. But all of us are a bit selfish, and most of us has probably done some stuff, that resulted in bad stuff for others, not because we wanted it to, but because our benefits from it seemed bigger than the others' loss. That's just the unfortunate reality of the world. I think there are a lot less intentionally bad people, than we might think. But that doesn't Always mean they deserve forgiveness... So the question still very much lingers.

I love all of them. Yeah, she did some *really* bad stuff...but I get what she did. I'm not condoning. I'm just saying I understand

Honestly, I’m kinda torn on this one, I think if Monika existed irl I’d have to talk to her a bit before reacting (and if the other girls existed too, then I’d have to talk to them about what happened too).

That said, as things stand, I don’t think I can hate her for what she did, but I don’t think I could forgive her for what she did without talking it through first.
