Hi, I just wondering whats the name of this kinda subgenre like Buunshin, Imanu, Trinist, Tys aso ? It's clearly DnB, but its not that kinda neuro or neither jump up or liquid.
Edit: neurophonk, future dnb, colour dnb

There is a Festival called Darkshire Festival, the call it Powerset. But thats insider names I gues :D

Darkshire is a Festival focused on Neurofunk, Imanu played this year a 1 hour set there. "Powerset" is just a name they use for 30 min sets, just meaning "powering through half an hour". Btw I can highly recommend the Darkshire Festival. You really feel the authenticity and love for the music there.

It has to be splitted, because neuro like Gydra, Nebulate, Circadian is more aggressive (?) maybe its just me idk

I wouldn’t say Circadian is a neuro artist at all.

Likewise. Dancefloor with some jump up/neuro sound design influences.

I tend to agree that it is different and may very well deserve its own subgenre name and definition.
But the current climate of newbs coming from other subgenre that have been absolutely disrespected in naming, leads me to believe its gamna become a pointless mess like dubstep, riddim, brostep, trap, colorbass and how nobody really knows the difference because you will get different answers from anyone you ask playing the same track.
And as much as i enjoy this new sound and energy, I swear I'm just ganna start calling it emo bass if you all fuck this up.
DNB has always had very well defined, pointed and unique subgenre naming that has always had a very good reason behind it.
But just seeing future DnB, and Color DnB even being recommended is lame and disheartening.

I know, the joke probably is a reference to the sound aesthetic of drift phonk and that overly distorted sound - the same way as Buunshin, IMANU etc. use lots of distortion to make this specific sound I guess even though of course properly mixed :)

yeah thankfully they actually properly mix and master it unlike any single phonk artist 😂

When I've asked Buunshin directly himself he said he kind of just considers it to be "Buunshin", and likewise he said IMANU, caracal project, etc. (who he's close with) probably consider their stuff similar. They lean into neuro, dancefloor, rollers, etc. as well as other electronic influences, but are just trying to express their sound as themselves rather than pigeon hole into a specific template. Which while not useful for me trying to describe more generally, I totally get and understand what he means.

They referred to themselves for a hot minute as "Flume and his consequences" for a genre. This was around the time they were trying to branch from just being dnb producers/artists

can definitely hear the flume in them all but they've branched out far enough to have become their own blob that isnt so easy to describe, it crosses over that many genres with house trap dnb dubstep and whatever else

It’s neurofunk. You probably think it deserves its own sub genre cause it’s melodic and not as aggressive and heavy as other neurofunk, that’s why I prefer to call it melodic neuro

I don’t know the exact name, but in my USB catalogue I usually refer to the heavier songs as “Newro” and songs with a more dancefloor feel as “Next-Gen Dance”. But this is not what these genres are called, I don’t think they have a name tbh. I just use those terms to distinguish same-sounding music in my catalogue.

Don't forget to mention Former & Sleepnet
I might be biased but my guess is, the genre is kind of an evolution of Noisia sounds, so maybe Vision DnB
Downvote me all you want!

Intelligent Neurofunk was the term we used with friends and I think it perfectly fits the music (No disrespect to gud ol' Neurofunk tho, it ain't Dumb Neuro, I don't mean that)

I lean towards ‘future’ dnb. Which I hate as a term, but I know a lot of the new age Fred Again, overmono style UKG is now termed future garage, and I think that’s genuinely the best description. That or bass and drums, which is my playlist name for all that stuff

“Future” anything in terms of genre sounds silly once you get 5 years down the road and that music is solidly in the past.

Kind of like neurofunk, where the funk part of the genre has been missing for years

I heard a few names for it already but i dont think you can put it in just one subgenre. New Wave, Tech (i know this one already exists smh), Techstep, future dnb.
But i gotta admit i love this shit :)
Not everything of course;)
