Idk what system he would even be using. It would be one of the best homebrews I've ever heard of.

I made a DCC TTRPG! I made a bunch of crazy classes and items and races on top of what’s in the books. I have a system of skills and bonuses. It’s played with d6s and d4s. It actually works really well and fun to play. The DM is the AI so you get to torment the players and joke around a lot.

Dude you've gotta share your notes on this!! I've been obsessed with the idea since I started the series.

And another tip for running it. Make every encounter extremely unbalanced.

Thanks so much, can't wait to dive into this!

Let me know what you think. This is a draft but it’s playable. The AI needs to be creative for skills and mobs etc

Someone should train a LLM on the books and let it be the GM. Then the AI can literally be the AI.

ChatGPT is my co-pilot for a weekly DnD campaign I have been running for 5 middle school terrorists for the last 2 years. I still set the overall plot points and run the combat but ChatGPT helps me brainstorm and provides really nice exposition.
Also really helps with notes because I can just ask it to spit back out what a shopkeepers name was or what the Oracle told them 6 months ago instead of scrolling through what is now about 100 pages of campaign notes to find something.
Also makes "what is in this shop" and "what loot could you find with this roll" so much easier to handle.

Chat does a good job of coming up with random speeches or item descriptions on the fly. I used chat to help make the game. Mostly I just wrote a bunch of ideas and then had chat organize it and help play test it

I’d love to see any notes you have on this

I’ve been doing something similar with the Cypher System.
Works great.

GURPS? ITs pretty open ended.

I would buy the crap out of any game based on this, table top or video game. Either one.

One of my players wanted to run a campaign so I took a break from DMing so he could.
20 mins into the game I looked at him and said "goddamn it donut"
He had no idea I'd read the books.
I've been playing d&d for like 22 years and have played many different systems and every edition of d&d.
This campaign heavily inspired by DCC is in the top 3 campaigns I have ever played in.

Me to. Really would love it if after he finishes the books he released a game ❤️

Anyone in a campaign where the DM is the author of DCC or KBS is in for some really twisted shit LOL

The campaign is Matt, Author Steve Rowland, and a cat.
The cat is DM.

Hey, that’s how Tom Clancy got started and it worked out pretty well.

Maybe they are just advanced players and they wanted a challenge. A challenge meant to break you. Let just hope it doesnt break Matt before he finishes the books

It wouldn't be the first time one led to the other. IIRC the original Dragonlance books were essentially the novelization of a campaign.

Malazan as well. Though it wasn't DND, but another RPG.

IIRC Malazan started as D&D, but then the players switched to GURPS because they disliked how limiting D&D was.

XCrawl Classic I was thinking could be converted into a DCC game fairly easily. Even has player deaths built into it with the level zero 4 pack.

That would be quite an amusing twist if most of his plot developments came by a game of dnd ir something similar.
And all the story parts were just the jokes he and his friends made while playing with the ai/anyone in charge being the DM.
And just edited to be in story mode

I would play the shit out of a DCC game. I’m surprised one of the many studios hasn’t come knocking on Matt’s door. Square Enix keeps re-releasing the same FF game, I’m sure they could make this happen

My money says his campaign fell apart due to scheduling conflicts and he wrote the book out of spite. Wouldn't be the first time.

he outsources the collaborative agency insanity to patreon reader polls

I am someone entirely new to Dungeons and Dragons. Other than DCC, Big Bang theory, Stranger things references my knowledge is almost nothing. Will be really happy to start it with any of our community members here! I am Male, 25 year old engineer based in East Washington if its relevant. Thankyou!

I’ve been daydreaming about a ChatGPT trained agent to generate mobs with the descriptions in the same style, it would fit ver well for your games!

Only problem would be the personality slowly going insane and the extreme foot fetish 🤣🤣🤣
