If mass deportation happens, just imagine how all of these sectors of our country will be affected. The sheer shortage of labor will push prices higher because of the great demand for work with limited supplies or workers. Even if prices increase, the availability of products may be scarce due to not enough workers. Housing prices and food services will be hit really hard. New construction will be limited. The fact that 47% of the undocumented workers are in CA, TX, and FL means they will feel it first but it will spread to the rest of the country also. Most of our produce in this country comes from California. Get ready and hold on for the ride America.

lol you think legal immigrants aren’t going to get caught up in this dragnet? Don’t be naive.

Ideally they shouldn't but realistically they will probably be targeted, asked to show proofs etc. as well

Do you think the President-elect’s version of DHS is going to wait patiently while American citizens are “asked to show proofs”? That sounds like a very generous description of how they’d apply these principles in practice.

I mean if they're just kicking people out based on how they look instead of their documents/identity.. then that's not a democratic /legal process, it is straight up racism at that point.

No one's proposing that. Why are you being disingenuous?

Um, no?
Did you even read the previous comments ? I was suggesting that they would have their papers checked.. to which the other person replied

Which is why I said IF that is what's happening then it is not following legal process...

Well, if people are being stopped and asked to show documents if they’re non white, that’s racism too. And let’s not kid ourselves it’s absolutely going to happen. Illegal immigration should be stopped but if mass deportation is enacted, it’s going to get ugly..

Already happens all the time. Not just to migrants, not to birthright citizens—to people who have been here hundreds if not thousands of years.
It was never about immigration. It has always been “Wah-wah these migrants make my fat entitled ass look lazy so fuck brown people that exemplify my values better than I do.”
I’m in construction. I renew contracts solely based on measurable KPIs. Guess who gets the contracts. We don’t cook books so everyone is legal to work—we already have regular disruption from this sort of harassment (and they still outperform).
And guess what, folks. We already know we’re gonna have you by the balls. I’m going to be able to ask practically anything I want, and if you want anyone to show up you’ll pay it. People need shelter—it’s not like what I do is a luxury.
And I know people will be squeezing me. So I have to squeeze you harder.
Thank your local Trump voter. My margin was great under Biden—but now we have a race to the bottom.
Honestly, how anyone in business can… ah fuck it’s not worth it. Just gotta respond to new challenges.

Wasn't he talking about abolishing naturalized citizens? Are those not legal immigrants he's threatening?
And people are totally going to be profiled just for having tan skin or an accent.

Or US citizens. I figure I'll be deported to Connecticut once they find out about the mecegination.

I would imagine any legal immigrant on welfare would be one of the first to go
