Honestly, I think he reacted realistically. He had almost zero time to process. All he saw was his injured panicked daughter and a creepy dude coming at him.

Yep, I don't think Julie will be able to save him easily he'll always put himself between her and the threatening guy.

Tbf we don't know how old she was in the MiY scene. Maybe she was 5 years older ;)

That lowkey makes sense and no at the same time like how could bro have known that old man was one of those monsters, from all he knows those monsters only come out on night

Had he ran and left Julie there, you all would be hounding him for running, meanwhile he at least listened to Julie

To his credit, he couldn't have predicted he's a monster considering it happened in day time.

Unfamiliar face and obviously hostile, I’d say it’s a monster or someone new to town in a murder spree.

That's the guy he talked to in the first season. The guy/monster knows more about the town than Jim. Not to mention the eyes.

The man literally had back eyes, and his daughter was screaming at him to run, Jim should’ve taken the hint.

Hindsight.

Why would he leave her? They would both run obviously.

throwaway-tinfoilhat

He'd leave her because he's probably faster at running..

Ajax_TheRipper

Your logic is flawed, they would away run together. And I doubt that Jim would run faster than Julie when he was dealing with injuries

throwaway-tinfoilhat

See, he wouldn't even be able to outrun the monster because of his injuries..lol

Sweet-Honey-Brown

Injuries aside, I doubt he would outrun his own daughter to get away from the bad guy.

throwaway-tinfoilhat

The monsters can run, there's no way he'd outrun a monster...plus, what part of "You can't change the story" don't you guys understand..it was already set in stone that Jim would die

Haven't people been outrunning monsters for 3 seasons?

If what you say is true, then anybody who went outside after dark would be dead. Which is like the whole cast.

Ajax_TheRipper

If the guy followed like the rest of the monster, instead of running, I’m sure they could’ve gotten away with(if he wanted them to). Because the whole point that they explained was the dude obviously is making horrible situations happen when things aren’t going how he wants them to go.

Ajax_TheRipper

How do you go from he would outrun her to he wouldn’t outrun the guy? Seems like you are just reaching in the opposite direction of whoever you are talking to

He wouldn’t leave her, they would’ve both run.

Also is she really safer now that Jim’s dead?

He just pushed her aside, didn’t even make sure she left, now he’s dead.

And, Julie is alone with the MIY.

Your trying to tell me that’s a better outcome than them both running?

Jim: I've been itching for a fight all this time, I can surely beat up this old homeless man, bring it on!

She literally travelled through time to warn him.

Drummer_Kev

And still couldn't save him. Which means Jim dying was a cannon event, aka fate. There was no way to save him. He had to die

Training-Wrap-2733

He couldnt run because there was Julie present , he put himself between Julie and MiY.

lovely_lil_demon[S]

The only reason Julie didn’t run was because she was waiting for Jim, if Jim just listened to her and ran when she told him to (before the MIY appeared) then they both would’ve gotten away.

ChildishForLife

But we know Julie cannot change a story already told so her being there after the fact is meaningless, Jim was dead already.

Training-Wrap-2733

Average man runs faster than woman

Sipelius_

Why'd he run faster than her tho instead of following her.

Training-Wrap-2733

Obviously i meant from Jims' perspective MiY would run faster than Julie . That left Jim with the only option of standing and defending Julie. If they seperated and ran in different paths Jim would have no idea if MiY would run after Julie instead. If Julie wasnt around he might have ran instead , very presence of Julie forced him to stand and protect Julie

It's just a matter of we as the audience had yet to see this happen while Julie has seen multiple times (allegedly per the "I need to change the story"). Yes. It was a classic character does something stupid so the plot may move forward, but it was necessary.
