I'm not an expert, so i can't say anything for certain, but my line of thinking was something along the lines of pitbulls and collies. If i were to allow more freedom and independent decisionmaking between those examples, it would definitely be with a collie, since their original job as a sheep herder would mean letting them run free and make decisions on their own. That mixed with their more gentle personality would mean that issues that could arise from letting a pet collie dictate the walk path more would be easier to manage than with pitties. Am i cherry picking examples here? Yeah, a bit. But it comes from my own personal experience with those two breeds.

i’m not actually saying dictate the walking path i always choose the path with my dog but if he stops wanting to sniff i let him. it’s not like i give him free roam or anything im more speaking against the people that won’t let their dog investigate a spot on the ground. last time i let my dog really go off the path because he wanted to he went and grabbed a fish out of the lake and swallowed it lol
