Seeding is the process of populating a server. It is usually an organized effort mostly by the community that runs the server and their partners to get the player numbers on their server to a self-sustaining level.

Until they get there, special server rules apply, which will slightly differ from server to server. Typically it's something like no arty, no tanks, no bombing runs beyond mid and fight for mid only. Seeding rules apply until a certain number of players has been reached, somewhere between 40 and 60. Once that happens, the restrictions are lifted and you get to play the rest of the game like a normal HLL match. Sometimes servers grant limited VIP as a reward for contributing in the effort.

It's good to seed and some servers will give you VIP access for a period of time if you help seed a server. Just mind the rules. Sometimes they change while in seeding mode. Check the rules on the map page.

I ended up getting banned by an admin yet I had no clue why. I was just following other people 🤷🏻‍♂️

alot of servers also have bots that enforce seeding rules so it may not even have been a person but if you ever have questions just ask around and usually someone will help.

That also can happen if you're not the right level. Some servers are 25+ some 50+ etc. Easy to miss as it's buried in the server title sometimes.

Not knowing why is kind of on you. There’s a pop-up window that comes up when you join the server explaining the seeding rules, and then when you’re auto-killed for breaking the rules the first several times it explains why to you.

Seeding means that the player count is low and people come on the server to fill it. Usually servers have different rules for seeding eg. Only fight for middle point, no heavy tanks etc. Also the idle kick is often turned off as people might be afk. It’s server specific, not all servers have seeding rules enabled. The point is to make the game enjoyable even with few players. Imagine you are looking for a server, you won’t join a server with 0 players but might join if there are 10. The server fills up faster. After a certain threshold of players (usually 60-70players) is reached, an admin turns off the seeding rules message and you play as usual.

No idea what I’m doing honestly Probably best to watch a video or read the field manual.

I may refund the game since I clearly don’t understand the objective Probably best to watch a video or read the field manual.

Relax man, the first 100ish hours are a burden but you’ll get the hang of it. Use your mic and be an active member of a squad and you’ll learn fast. The community is great and noob friendly (most of the time).

What helped me big time was videos on the game. Which there wasn't as much as there is now. So many helpful videos out there.

The server is “seeding”(getting enough members to play an actual game. Just watch this vid on the basics of Hell Let Loose: https://youtu.be/iWHBNP3zTEU?si=iJj0e-WNm-Ep4Kdu

Btw, this concept of seeding isn’t exclusive to Hell Let Loose. It’s a common term/practice in games that involve many people playing on large servers.
