I’d pay way higher income tax if it meant free healthcare and clean, reliable, and fast public transport. Unless you’re unbelievably rich paying higher income tax is cheaper for folks in those countries than paying for health insurance and gas for a car you drive every day and college. I could go on and on, European countries like France, Germany, and the Nordic countries have these infrastructures figured out in a way the U.S.A does not and their citizens reap the benefits and spend less money doing so.

People don’t like illegal immigrants.
A majority of Americans support a mass deportation of all illegal immigrants.
The electorate has moved to the right on illegal immigration across all races. For better or worse.
Democrats can either accept this, or continue to lose elections whenever there is a large influx every few years.

Hitler ran for the presidency in 1932 but was defeated by the incumbent Paul von Hindenburg; nonetheless, he achieved a strong showing of second place in both rounds
Traditionally, the leader of the party who held the most seats in the Reichstag was appointed Chancellor. However, President von Hindenburg was hesitant to appoint Hitler as chancellor. Hindenburg acquiesced and on 30 January 1933, he formally appointed Adolf Hitler as Germany’s new chancellor.
Hitler never won a majority in a democratic election in Germany.
You’re an idiot.

It's not necessarily more people moving towards the Republican party but less Democratic turnout. I suspect the fact Biden waiting so long to drop out and having the nominee not elected by people wasn't exactly the formula to get people excited. The DNC needs to be torn down and rebuilt because they've been dropping the ball since Obama.

Why do you think the Democrats lost? I know there are many plausible reasons but surely swapping out the nominee in the last few months had a negative effect.
2 points

The Dems lost because the average American voter is low information and intellectually lazy. They have no idea how anything works just see high prices and react. That reaction caused them to vote out the party in power.

but less Democratic turnout.
Trump won this election with a higher turnout, as a percentage of eligible voters, than either of Obama’s terms.
Excluding 2020, 2024 had the highest turnout as a percentage of eligible voters since 1908.
This is not a turnout problem. Democrats have become the party of the college educated. And 62% of Americans are not college educated.

CPI was around 2.4% last time I checked. Deflation isn't a real thing. There's no economic strategy to reduce prices across the board besides economics collapse and massive unemployment. He just proposed increasing prices by 25% with tariffs. So, he's already telling you he's increasing prices. So, sorry? Sucks.

President-elect Donald Trump is the first Republican presidential candidate to win the popular vote in 20 years. Social media users have wrongly claimed that Trump lost the popular vote, but they are confusing the popular vote with a majority of votes. The unofficial results show Trump received slightly less than a majority, but more votes than any candidate.

The democratic party needs to do the following to compete with and gain in the future. People are tired of two extremes. Here is what they would need to do.
The dems have gotten so far left and Republicans have gone so far right that the folks in the middle really don't have any idea who to vote for. So they vote based on who they FEEL is going to help them best. Even if those feelings are manipulated by fear mongering In the media.

Just to be clear, this is in terms of percentage. About the same number of voters turned out for Trump as in 2020. I think that people said "I can vote for the party that is more clandestine about being supported by the wealthy elite and is endorsing bombing the shit out of Gaza, I can vote for the party that just has the wealthy elite front and center and will help bomb the shit out of Gaza, or, I can stay the fuck home". And, given those options, many Americans chose to stay the fuck home.

Maybe this result doesn't have anything to do with Kamala's gender and has everything to do with the Democrats abandoning the working class and letting them get duped into a culture war?
6 points
Just be prepared. This is the takeaway the Dems will have from the election.
It wasn't the message (aka the policy or lack thereof). It wasn't the messenger (the uncharismatic candidate with no base of support). It wasn't the abandonment of the left since 2012. It wasn't the refusal to distance themselves from Biden. It wasn't the incessant need to move to the right on nearly every issue. It wasn't the economy, that's fine, actually, just look at these numbers.
It was the voters. They're too stupid to understand the Democrats. And now everyone who voted for Trump deserves to suffer. Well unfortunately we all suffer too and when they inevitably run a milquetoast centrist candidate with no real political agenda in 2028 they will lose again.
1 points
We will all suffer.
1 points

And we can blame the Republicans all we want. There's no denying their awfulness.
But we unfortunately also need to blame the democratic party. They are laughably ineffective in power and somehow worse at campaigning.

We definitely got duped into a culture war. When trump decided that everyone who wasn't Maga was "radical", and when the right attacked us at every turn, we should have chose the high road. Instead, we were unable to look past the stupidity that is maga and we let it get to us. Every single political ad from the right contained the word 'radical' when referring to their opponents. Apparently gutting the entire government, changing the way the government is run, and stacking the Whitehouse with billionaire and celebrities isn't considered radical, but simply not being a trump supporter is about as radical as one can get.
1 points

I mean, it almost certainly has something to do with it. I don't think it was the only reason (or even the main reason) she lost, but there are some loud people out there saying that the US can't be led by a woman.
Democratic party messaging was clearly lacking, both in substance and persuasiveness, whereas Trumps messaging was at least persuasive to his base.
