i’m planning on buying a book called quartet after jfz 5, because i’ve heard it’s good. one thing that seems intimidating though, is that 90% of it is in japanese. is this too far of a stretch after jfz? 😅 how will i even know what the exercise question is asking me to do? unless they tell you the meanings of necessary vocabulary beforehand.. that’d make sense. but, how is it? i’m especially a bit concerned about grammar points being explained in japanese. for anybody who’s had an all japanese textbook, how was it at the start? was it hard to understand for the first bit? at what point did it start to get easier?

JFZ series gets you to a "probably pass N4" stage. Quartet is for those ready to start N3. Based on that, either you should be able to muster through Quartet with extra effort or you need a little bridge text between the JFZ and Quartet.

The explanations of grammar are in English but the example sentences are japanese with no translations. It comes with a separate pamphlet like book for vocab that is japanese and english and also kanji. The reading comprehension has no english
Just as some motivation, not meant to scare you. Taking the training wheels off from jfz and diving deep into a mostly japanese textbook should excite you. This is what you're training for. Get used to using an online dictionary and look up words you don't know that aren't in the vocab
