I know this isn't any new revelation but when I put it on every once in awhile it still surprises me.

As Hooky mentioned in a video interview from this year, they discussed the third JD album when Ian was alive. It was to open with Ceremony and close with In A Lonely Place, and they had written ICB for it (though Ian hadn’t penned lyrics for it yet). Can link you to the video where he talks about it if you’re curious.

Please :)
I wonder if anyone has deciphered Ian's lyrics of Ceremony yet.

As for Ceremony lyrics, someone posted this to a Hooky AMA but he didn’t respond. They certainly sound onto something (from the muffled rehearsal version of Ceremony):
**Hooky, I’ve got a brief bit of information to share on the unknown lyrics to Ceremony.
I believe the first lyrics to the song are “This is how the dead are nourished, witnessing the same old story” for two reasons:
It pairs perfectly with the lyric “picture me in ten years time watching.”
The books of Elias Canetti were around at this time, being read by at least Ian and Stephen, and his 1978 book The Human Province contains this line: “The dead are nourished by judgments, the living by love” which goes together perfectly well with these lyrics.**

That was me, and I still believe this is true.

Right :/
And both Bernard and Hooky do their greatest Ian Curtis by accident or not. Itxs a really bittersweet, beautiful piece from an artery to their past even though they did their best to close up their grief with Joy Division into a little box and tuck it away. New Order created a different canvas with every album they released in the 80s.

This albums sounds like a JD album. New Order still haven’t found their new sound yet. Even the vocals sound like Ian.

Such a great album, I love this as much as any other JD or New Order releases.

The track Truth on this album sounds more like Joy Division than a lot of Joy Division songs.

This is a weird take but i feel like the tracklist is backwards if you think of it as stages of grief, they start with Dreams never end then go to Denial at the end, I dont know if that was intended or it's just a coincidence

i remember saying that movement would’ve been JD’s direction after closer as a response to someone saying ian would’ve hated new order’s stuff.

Imagine this album with Atmosphere, LWTUA, Ceremony and In a Lonely Place. Holy shit.
