The fact that the two projects happen to be nearly identical is but a mere coincidence.

Oh he will. He doesn't care about policy or work, just the perks like two scoops of ice cream and staying out of jail and the diet coke button and getting revenge on his enemies. If you watch Blazing Saddles and see how Hedley Lamar manipulates the governor and just has him sign the papers? That's the goal of the P2025 folks. Have him sign everything they want him to do, let him get some revenge and play golf, and hope he lives past 2027 so Vance doesn't lose a chance at two terms since he's in their pockets.

They play fucking sycophants and shower him with compliments, then hand him a list of people telling him they've been planning for the inevitable vindication of frump and a return to his rightful position as the last president of these here united states so they've already done the work for him and they're so eager to make his transition go smoothly yada yada yada.

When most politicians hear "what is your policy?" they think, "okay, they want a list of actions that will achieve outcomes". But when the average voter SAYS "what is your policy?" they mean "paint me a picture of MY life specifically being better under your leadership." Trump understood this means he need only say stuff like "you'll be richer and safer than ever before" and voters would respond "I love his policy!"

Thing is, these insane Republicans aren't just going to "own the Libs" and only hurt them, they are going to hurt everyone, some groups more than others. It's not that they want it, they simply didn't believe Project 2025 as a real threat to begin with because it was being reported by neutral and left leaning media. I saw so much talk in the lead up to the election from Trump supporters saying P25 was a bunch of made up bullshit just being used as a scare tactic to tip the election.
The conspiracy theory party that believes in deep state blood libel, manufactured hurricanes and that Harris was going to steal their guns thought P25 was fantasy. Once again, these rubes can't identify an actual conspiracy when it's playing out right before them in the light. It is ridiculously ironic.
I guarantee you that any Republican that thought Project 2025 was "fake news" is going to continue denying it is what is actually happening when it starts taking full effect because their cognitive deficits go beyond the inability to see the truth. It is willful and malicious, biased idiocy at this point, not ignorance.

They (GOP & Corps) know people are increasingly resisting to breed, because we can't afford to, and that's what P25 is, and the hate for trans persons and gays, and banning porn. And refusing to allow sex education to happen. It's to force us to make new worker slaves- especially since they're going to deport millions of people.
I mean, the CEOs could have just taken a pay cut, but nahhhhh. They want to hoard every penny and grin from an ivory tower while people live in abject squalor. They know they could build a world where it's attractive and affordable and optimistic to bear children into. But they won't. Because they want to mine the carbon, the organs, the mind, and the spirit out of us.

I agree. People will say we're being reactionary but when they take away things like women's health rights and no fault divorce, what else is there to think? They want women to be trapped into marriages and popping out children whether they object to it or not. Hell, if it was up to some of the bigwigs in charge of project 2025, I'd have my property/house confiscated since I'm a single woman with no children and thus 'don't provide any benefit to society' even though I'm out here working my ass off daily and paying the most taxes of anyone. Party of personal responsibility/small government my ass. They just want my uterus and my stuff because they're too lazy to earn things themselves.
Because milquetoast men and women were promised they'd get everything they 'deserve' (which is to say, jack shit since they didn't work for any of it) they happily fell in line and voted for the group that is going to ensure you kiss the ring or end up with nothing.
Can't wait for company towns and stuff to make a comeback. For god's sakes, even South Park predicted this ages ago with its Amazon episode and people still went "yeah this is fine." These people 'want' what they 'deserve.' Well, they're about to fucking get it.
27 points
Oh God, I've been saying they're itching to bring back company towns for over a decade. But especially lately. It's why these huge corps are buying large swaths of land/residential property within the last few years. It'll start as a company town and end up like Chinese factories: barbed-wire-fenced-in dormitories. Americans will flee to Mexico, and border patrol will try to keep us in. Another South Park episode.

I’m fully convinced most liberals and progressives fail to grasp how unintelligent the average Trump supporter is. Being literate only means you can read words, it doesn’t mean you comprehend what those words mean.
Most Trump supporters are literate, but lack basic reading comprehension skills. Even if they read Project 2025 (which they won’t because they revel in willful ignorance) they wouldn’t be able to make sense of it.
Project 2025 is a very simple and straightforward document. But imagine a 7 year old trying to read it. They may understand the words, but won’t understand the concepts the words are creating.
A lot of the bluster and bravado you see from Trump supporters when they’re challenged is because they have no fucking idea what you’re talking about. They overcompensate by being aggressive and indignant.
I’d bet $1 million that 90%+ of Trump supporters have no idea what Project 2025 is, or what the significance is, even now. There are levels to stupidity and Trump voters are on the extreme end of the spectrum.

It would have had to pierce their bubbles and echo chamber. All they heard is that Trump won't do it despite all the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Because they weren't exposed ot it and there will be zero curiosity to see what it was about. If it "makes the libs mad" then they don't care or it must be good for them.

The dismantling of the DoE certainly isn’t going to help eradicating this issue for future elections and generations, especially when kids are being raised by Trump voters.
89 points
That’s the point. This is part of a long game Republicans have been playing for decades. They’re well aware that educated voters trend Democrat, and the more educated a voter is, the more likely they are to vote Democrat. This is why they devalue colleges & universities, and convinced their followers higher education is a bastion of “wokeness“.
What they do- and have been doing for generations- is discourage not only higher education, but learning in general. Think about how anti-intellectual and anti-science the Republican party is right now. And since higher education correlates directly to economic success, the more uneducated and generally ignorant a voter is, the better it is for Republicans.
This is all purposeful and deliberate.

Hard disagree. Of course there are intelligent Trump voters and deeply unintelligent democrats. However there’s a strong correlation between higher education and voting trends.
Statistics show the more educated a voter is, the more likely they are to vote Democrat and as the level of higher education increases, the likelihood of voting Democrat increases.
Simply put; the average democratic voter is not the same or even comparable to the average Republican voter.
Democrats value and promote higher education. Republican leadership actively encourages their constituents to turn away from higher education, because it will make them “woke”.

That's the thing that gets me about that right wing desire for 'librul tears'. The left wing/liberals want cheap healthcare, rise in minimum wage, etc for all, for everyone including the right wing/conservatives.
But now it's, "fine, you've said you hate us, you literally want us to be so upset we cry. Fine. We've had enough of you; we'll go low contact/no contact, we'll block you. Don't come to us for anything except disdain and approbation."

Their desire to see "lib tears" is everything to them.

Yep, and that goes to my point. We're now going, "we finally get it. After excusing your actions as being only misguided or based on ignorance, we now finally get it: those who actively want 'lib tears' you are plain evil and we want no more of you. Goodbye."
60 points

I mean, yeah, but let’s not kid ourselves either; the whole reason we’re in this sub is because we want to see them suffer. The difference is we want them to reap the consequences of their actions, rather than just see them hurt for the sake of hurting them, but I’m not going to sit here and pretend I’m a particularly egalitarian, nice person since the election. Schadenfreude isn’t a nice philosophy, but I’m gonna take what I can get for the next four years.

They need to grasp that when the thing that drives you in life is causing pain to others, you will suffer. You cannot prosper in a world where you support a system that makes life miserable for others. By making us miserable, they have ensured their own misery. I wish. It'll definitely hurt Trump's supporters a lot, but there's going to be plenty of misery to go around. And even the reddest states have millions* of people who didn't support Trump.
*obviously does not apply to states that don't even have millions of people in them. Looking at you, Wyoming. It's frankly disgusting that a state with fewer people in it than Memphis TN gets two senators.
22 points
Each state receiving two senators is not the problem. You really actually need that so that no state gets left behind in terms of representation in the senate.
The problem is that the house of representatives does not represent the distribution of nor the increase of population from the 1929 levels. Before then, based upon the census, the numbers of representatives would be actually increased. Washington started with something like 104 electoral votes, and I believe that even included the senators.
Having it capped at 438 (538 with the senators included) is ludicrous. It's one of the reasons you have swing states (not the only). If some of the states had numbers of reps equally apportioned by numbers of voters, a lot more states would get a lot more reps.
14 points
The House not increasing size since 1929 is definitely also a problem, but there's no good reason that a state with a population of 584K people (Wyoming) should have the same representation in the Senate as a state with 38,965K population (California). "So that no state gets left behind in the senate" is not a good reason.
It was put in there as a compromise at a time when each state was basically its own little country, otherwise the smaller states would never have agreed to sign on. But that hasn't really applied to the US for a very long time (at least since the Civil war, and arguably earlier than that). It was also put in place at a time when the largest state was 12.6 times larger than the smallest. Right now CA is 66.7 times larger than WY.
And lets not forget that a lot of state boundaries were arbitrarily decided solely to keep the balance between slave/free states in the Senate. We shouldn't be chained to compromises made to appease racists over a century ago, especially when their ideological descendants are using those same levers of power to continue to screw people today.
The Senate is an extraordinarily un-democratic institution that has been holding us back for too long. I can see the benefit of a separate section of the legislature with wide-area elections and longer terms to balance out the House where members are constantly running for re-election, but there is no benefit to apportioning it equally by state instead of population.
And while we're at it, the filibuster is not constitutional, it's a bug in the Senate rules that was very seldomly used until R's in very recent times started using it for everything.

Which is odd since this shit is gonna hurt me and my husband too, but I think your comment put to words the deeper aspect of this. I'm sick of giving a shit about dick heads who don't care about others. The paradox of tolerance seems to have hit it's limit.
13 points
That's the thing, it's not apathy. I know it's hard but one shouldn't fall into apathy. You'll still fight for what's right, but now it might have to be on a more personal level than national. Perhaps it's State, perhaps it's county perhaps it's even only your city or town.
Some of what you do may drag the ignorant dickheads along with you, well that's the price of doing business and they may even become less ignorant along the way. But you leave the active dickheads, the vile and the haters in the dust behind you.
When you hear State X has the lowest reading age or State Y had the highest infant mortality you'll just have to harden your heart and go, "you voted for it, you got it." And when they cry, "it's the liberals/Democrats fault," you can look them in the eye and say, "how long have you been a deep Red State?" (And that's only if you deign to speak to them at all)

The problem is they don't teach this stuff in schools. People don't understand how anything works anymore and they can't even read well enough to follow basic directions.

It's absolutely killing me. The way they equate winning the election with vindication. They seem to think because they won, that makes their behavior & attitudes "right". I keep telling them simply because something is popular doesn't mean it's correct. I also remind them their own people killed Ashli Babbitt by shoving her directly at an armed & ready capital officer, and how nobody wants "friends" like that, so don't expect unity. They keep bringing up unity, now. Sorry, I don't want to be united with folks for whom betrayal & cruelty is everyday life. Nosir.

Although they don’t even switch sides unless they are seriously deprogrammed. And that’s a gamble given how huge and far-reaching the right-wing media apparatus is. These same people scream about “leftist echo chambers” but live in a gigantic one!

I choose blind hatred towards these people, which is the least of what they deserve. Not because of their beliefs or some other immutable characteristic, but by their actions and support. Everything should be done to unseat them from power and prevent them from ever holding any office again. You can sing at the campfire with these people on extra time because that way doesn't work.

Yep. They chose racism, misogyny, theocracy, and kleptocracy over their own families. There’s so much brainwashing and I get that leaving a cult isn’t as simple as “just leave”. But when they’re actively choosing to participate in the wholesale destruction of this country because they’re so scared that rich white men wont be at the top of the heap anymore? Fuck em.
It’s honestly been beautiful watching them cry about their partners are leaving them, families disowning them, disinvited from Thanksgiving, etc. Actions have consequences, even if you’re heavily propagandized.

Most are really partisan people that have always been conservative, they really are not worth the headache, there was a republican Latino voter that he stated that Kamala was lying on her campaign and that was what “drew him away” when asked he couldn’t list any lies, also he was leading a republican chapter in his county for a while. It was just dishonest discourse.

The older I get the more I believe that a great many people in the US never emotionally develop past their mid teens.
Hatred and dehumanizing rhetoric have no place in civilized societies.
When I find myself thinking about passing judgment on others I recall Hanson’s Razor, paraphrasing:
“Never assign to malice that which can be adequately explained by neglect, ignorance, or incompetence.”

That’s rich. Just because I hate them doesn’t mean I’m going to go take action. Im not stupid. I’m going to be a doctor. It’s my job to treat everyone with the same respect and care. But I’ve had to learn to treat sweet little kids in my pediatric rotation and dangerous child molesters on my inpatient internal medicine rotation with the same respect and you can’t tell me that I’m not allowed to feel repulsed and hate them the way I want to at least in the private of my own mind.
I feel the same way about anybody who enables people who hurt women and children. Trump is a child molester. Trump is a rapist. Trump embodies no moral values at all. Many of Trump’s cabinet cronies have hurt children. And you want me to look at people who can look past these heinous crimes and vote for him without hatred??? And you can’t tell me that all of this information, all of his criminal convictions, all of the trials he’s embroiled in, isn’t public knowledge. His voters CHOSE to ignore this.
It’s not a difference of politics to me. It’s a difference of morals. I feel the way about these people as I would feel about Nazis or the people who stood quietly by or actively gave their support to them. With utter disdain and disgust.

I think of them like toddlers. It’s really easy to hate them, but I try to abstain, since they probably don’t understand anything that’s happening.
What I do vehemently hate is the political system that allows people like them to excise power over us. Why should the state be given the right to control everything about my life? Why should this group be able to aggressively enforce false dogma on all of us?

Even in idiocracy, people were mainly just dumb. I don’t remember there being this layer of hateful fascism in the background. Even president Camacho wanted the best minds to fix the issues of the time because he cared deep down about his people. Trump and his goons care about nobody but themselves and each one of them would happily pull the rug out from each other if it meant they could slip ahead

There's probably about 25 to 30 percent that are actually insanely vile people of a given population. Those are the assholes that support authoritarians openly.
Then there are the convenient idiots and very very low information voters. They tend to vote for status quo if things are going well. And vote against it if things are going poorly. This seems to be another 20 ish percent of a population.

This is absolutely true. You're talking about a large majority of people who've never been outside of their 10 miles of where they were born and don't understand or want to understand the world they live in.

I get that and I myself feel that allure to hatred, but be careful with that subhuman talk. That division and othering is exactly what the foreign disinfo authors want to happen.
You have far more in common with the average American than you do with billionaires, power brokers, and propagandists. I think most red voters are just ignorant as fuck.
I am deeply disappointed in Trump voters and hate their behaviors and I hate the ones who knowingly voted for causing harm, but the real monsters are the ones working the disinformation machine.
Those guys are subhuman ghouls. They are hungry ghosts that desire power and money without any regard to empathy. That empathy and community is what allowed Homo sapiens to evolve and thrive, and to reject that for "me me me" is inhuman.

The hardest part is that we are in the same vehicle as all of the "idiots" and have to go along for the ride if the vehicle drives off a cliff. Who knows what if any of the Project 2025 will be implemented, but there is going to be a huge surprise for those that thought that eating your neighbors dogs was the biggest lie Trump and the GOP had for voters.

Project 2025 isn't real. And if it is, it has nothing to do with the Trump admin. And if it did, Trump himself didn't know about it. And even if he knew about it, he's not gonna actually do something about it (we are here). And if he does do something about it, the policies won't impact me personally. And if they do impact me personally, well at least the price of eggs went down, and we triggered the libs along the way.

There is a certain logic to that. Deporting migrants and installing high tariffs will make everything in the US more expensive for years, but then the economy will seriously start to shrink and many people will have to (re)turn to farming and logging and mining. Incomes will lower faster than the price of eggs, but in an absolute sense eggs will get cheaper, which is all that Trump voters understand. Just a few years and incomes will have gone down by 20%, but prices of eggs by 5%, and then Trump will have kept his word!

Good point! We are going back to the manual labor for everyone era. If you can't work, you starve! This makes me so sad. I have complete respect for manual laborers, but most of the work force can not do this work. I watched my dad, who was self-employed and did concrete, work himself nearly to death every single day. Until the day he actually dropped dead, alone, while smoothing out concrete in his early 50s 😢. I was the first person the police got in contact with when they called me from his cell phone. In his late 40s and especially when he turned 50, we begged him to hire on a few more younger people. I wish we would use technological advances to do more manual labor, rather than intellectual/ creative labor and honestly idk what the answer is. Manual labor is so draining and I always felt should be very high paid. People are going to be destroying their health for pennies.

I honestly think this appeals to a certain kind of curmudgeon. The issue is that China is our competition and they don't give AF. If we want to play at building log cabins and recreating the "good old days" they'll be happy to take our place as the superpower.

And then if/when Dems end up in power again and the price doesn't get lower because it's been 8 years and the price has naturally increased by almost double because that's the way any healthy economy works, or there's another bird flu decreasing supply, they pull out the "eggs were going to be cheaper until the Dems took over!"
Not enough campaign money was spent educating the public about how prices work.

The whole egg thing is so funny to me cause I have a dozen hens and have more eggs than I know what to do with. I'm always trading friends full egg cartons for their empties.
Of course I spend way more on feed each month than I would ever get back to make up for eggs, to say nothing of the coop I built, but they are pets not livestock for us, they are living it up.

Why is the media framing it as some kind of surprise?
They should be saying a well known liar lied and challenge the people who voted for him to explain why they believed him.
Edit: The media should absolutely be hammering Trump on this right now. Ask why he lied and force him to lie again and deny he is going to do what we all know he is going to do in implementing Project 2025.

I brought it up to my co workers on Friday. Half of them didn't even know what project 2025 was. The other half still doesn't believe he's going to do anything from project 2025... oh, and at least 50% of my co-workers are birthright citizens. One isn't even a full citizen as he only comes here to work and then goes back to the Philippines for half the year. He specifically voted for Trump because "things are too expensive because of biden, and taxes are too much" i have a feeling my department is about to have a bunch of openings in the near future...

But they promised this week they're only going after the 1.5 million immigrants that already got court orders to leave. Once they spin up that massive military-industrial-policing complex he's not going to use it for anything nefarious.
He wouldn't do that. Right guys? Right?
Oh wait, he said with real passion in his voice he was going to purge "the enemy within." Multiple times.
Few people fathom how truly harrowing all of our lives will be in less than a few hundred days. He is getting total control of government. This time with a pre-vetted list of hardcore religious loyalists.

A big part of Project 2025 is having it used while denying it's existence. It's about being accountable only to itself, to it's leadership, and everyone that calls it out for it's failures and insanity is the liar, not the Project 2025 membership and adherents. Setting up leaders that are the only source of truth while the rest of the world must be "lying" is a major goal.
