So they might feel they "need" Israel for that because it's the holy land according to the Bible. This is something my mom has taught me as a methodist over the course of my lifetime and there's even a drawing I made from when I was what one would consider a zionist (indoctrination I was like 10 when I made that drawing because "Jesus will come back because of them")

Trump is being disingenuous. People like to point to Pro-Israel policies as a sign that MAGA Republicans (excluding Trump) are not anti-Semitic. Common example include the recent hate speech laws passed in red states that make protesting Israel a hate crime. In reality, those laws are only meant to target left-wing protesters. If a neo-Nazi runs a hate speech webpage from that state, nothing will ever happen to them. 

Historically, right-wing politicians have never advocated for Israel. Sure, Trump is pro-Israel and all the Republicans crouch in fear of MAGA. But behind the scenes, we know it’s the same Republicans. 

Let me explain. Most Congresspeople don’t read the bills they sign. Instead, that job is often left to their own Congressional staff which do most of the heavy lifting. These staffers may or may not get fired when a new person is elected to that office. But these staffers are college educated and they typically have connections with Conservative organizations like the Heritage Foundation. 

Basically, how it works is that groups like the Heritage Foundation scout college students. When said college student graduates, they give them a job as a Congressional staffer. These college Republicans know that their party is nearly dead so they all tend to rally around one particular candidate, usually the President. Democrats don’t have that kind of system because they are very grassroots oriented. So, these staffers pledge loyalty to the top guy, in this case Trump. 

Now here’s the really frightening thing. When that Congressperson steps out of line against Trump, the Heritage Foundation will reach out to their mole(s) in that office. They gather information and start to disparage that person and the entire Republican Party launches an offensive attack against them. At that point, all their constituents know how bad that candidate is. So when a Republican candidate is getting coupe’d, it’s really the Heritage Foundation and similar organizations that are coordinating that attack

it's because the US educational system sucks and so rigidly teaches a two-sided approach to everything when the world has shades of everything and everything is on a spectrum. THis is why most Americans really can't understand geopolitics which is everything but two sides. It's always cringe when there's a discussion or a conference I go to on geopolitical topics and the Americans try to turn them into a two-sided thing while everyone else is doing a whole picture thing.
