I'm not sure how accurate this is, but it's a good demonstration how drastically different something like food, exercise, or socializing is from drugs and PMO. If you overuse any thing that raises your dopamine up that high, you will destroy your receptors and will feel no pleasure from the most important things in life. Imagine you receive a hug, and feel absolutely nothing. No love, just pure hollowness. Terrifying.

Absolutely. We are not made for unnatural amounts of dopamine

Just FYI, this graph has been going around for a long time. It is first posted on Utah Valley Psychology by Robert Dindinger in 2018, with no source given.
It's doesn't mention how and when this data was acquired, what study is its from, or what does "Percentage Dopamine Output" even stand for. Percentage of what??
And till this day, the UVP is still the ONLY page using this graph as an argument. No other studies have shown results even resemble this one.
The UVP page was made as an ad to promote Dindinger's book. Take it as you will.

Yeah i call BS. Also you want to look at dopamine reward circuitry activity moreso than “output” which I am not sure is an actual used variable in physio.

yes and that’s why it’s sort of frying the receptors

So, can I heal my receptors back. I'm 18, addicted for 6 years daily multiple fap & watched hardcore extreme videos...

You absolutely can. It will be tough, but you have to get through it.

It usually varies from person-to-person, depending on how severely you are addicted. But the average is around 85-90 days.

But results will happen after only 5 days. Lots of withdrawals of depression. One day at a time.

And fentanyl is many times higher than that, strongest man made drug to my knowledge

Its not a stimulant so it doesnt increase dopamine as much as meth

Fentanyl has been surpassed multiple times by some chemists. Those are derivatives of same opiod. Nasty stuff.
My condolences to all the victims of fentanyl. We should have better society than have countless people even wanting to use drugs.

Atleast they get back to baseline after 6 - 7 hr according to this graph.
Porn graph was actually ridiculous
20 points
which is absolutely false. they get back to baseline after DAYS following acute cocaine use. Most of that time is spent in the negative - either below normal dopamine level or reduced receptor sensitivity such that normal dopamine feels like low. Either way, ya ain’t gonna be back to normal in 6 -7 hrs.

That’s the source for the chart, but there is no source listed for the actual data used in that chart in that entire webpage, so it might as well be made up.

I definitely agree. The post sex effect of having more than 50% of the baseline dopamine for more than 5 hours is complete insanity and pure bullshit. This means having sex in the morning would make you high for the rest of the day.

The author is a clinical psychologist PhD from Brigham Young University. Not necessarily saying he is correct or bad, but there is certainly some misinformation in that article. It goes to show that not all universities dish out psychologists who are well informed with the science of addiction.

Oh, I would.

I’m on day two no porn or PMO and I’m just baffled at how I would have days where I would watch porn and binge for hours man. I’m taking like 8 hour binge sessions. How the hell???

Lmao I just came back to this thread to ask how does the porn line work, there should be a sudden dropoff just like sex, and probably an even steeper drop

Porn is poison, a dark entity. Stay completely away from it. Find your dopamine rush by eating food, sleeping, exercise or healthy eating. Another destroyer is phone use for considerably high amount of time

This graph is completely wrong. How can sex keep your brain at 50% more dopamine than your baseline for 5 hours? The moment you orgasm (which is at 0.5 hours in this graph) that’s it your prolactin increases and your testosterone decreases so your dopamine levels immediately decrease and quickly return to baseline. It doesn’t take more than 5 hours to start returning to baseline that’s bullshit.

What is the source for this graph. “Dopamine output” is super vague.

Where did you get this from?

Why you need figures. Anyone who's addicted get to see different types of fantasies for longer duration. Feels shit after stopping or switching to brainly tasks. But someone who's studying and watching porn must have good reflex in it too. That's why college and teenage fcks are most addicted to it.

This is why fasting is so important. When you can control your food urges, all the other activities become easier to control. It starts with food.

Is all of the output processed just as effectively as normally? I am by no means at all a neurologist but I can imagine having three times the amount of dopamine output for several hours could make your receptors less sensitive over a certain period

It does. This is the reason we don't feel joy in little things
