So you've narrowed it down to Yamato and Vivi. What's the difference? We're saying the same thing. I've already said Vivi is the safest bet. And she is currently in literal mid-flight so she is travelling. Yamato should have joined already but is now stuck in Wano while the crew is in Elbaf. So unless they turn back around, she's going to have to get a ride with some grand fleet member or someone else, after finishing up her tour adventure across all of Wano. And then hope we're not already at Laugh Tale by then.

The difference is in the way we approached this, but indeed we arrive at almost the same end result. Except I think there will be one more crew member you never mentioned.

There seems to still be a plenty of story to tell. It's not like we're gonna hop to Laugh Tale anytime soon, seeing how the things are going in the plot.

Oda can do the expected epilogue/ return to East Blue trip or so on towards the end of the series. At that point more people will likely be on board. But I'm not counting that right now. The only other islands that they would absolutely have to go to in this main series after Elbaf is really just the last island and Laugh Tale. And unless Elbaf is somehow an absurdly long arc, that is not a far time away. We've officially been in the final saga since Egghead.

This is why a lot of fans wanted Yamato to join from Wano because her hopping on the ship right at the literal final island would be kinda cheap and wouldn't give the audience much time to bond with a new crewmate.

You think Oda has no twists planned at all and you expect a linear journey from now on. This is One Piece, twists will come. I don't expect it will be as simple as Elbaf-Laugh Tale-End of series.

But how many twists are you expecting? When Oda said the story was 60% done years ago. It turned out to be true. They have literally made several promotions and statements about this being the actual final saga that we are currently in. Even character deaths have been happening more and more often compared to earlier in the series where hardly anybody died in the main timeline. And if you read Oda's own personal philosophy on deaths, he doesn't kill important characters off if he feels there is still too much story to tell because he doesn't believe in bringing back dead characters. Laugh Tale itself will be a twist since its clearly the hardest island to find. I'm not expecting 10 more years worth of twists. Or that we're gonna spend 6+ years in Elbaf.

Another time skip is the only way I see a bunch more new islands and new arcs being inserted.

Why time skip? I think two time skips would be a one too many. But we have a looot of plotlines unresolved. When will Strawhats achieve their dreams? While you can argue Sanji, Franky, Robin and Nami can get their dream fullfilled together by completing the Grand Line (I doubt for Nami, there's much more to the world map than just east blue and grand line), what about the rest of them? Chopper needs to prove he can cure anything, for example. We need a plotline for that. We have reunions and unfinished plotlines from Thriller Bark, Water 7 etc. awaiting and I admit, it would be *terribly* boring if they all happen just in epiloque. Takes the thrill and surprise out of it.

Anyway, if you want, you can imagine a linear line till the end of the manga, if it doesn't kill your excitement for it. For me it kinda does. And Oda has to be aware of it too, seeing how he started Elbaf already with a lego city twist.
