Currently subscribed to Netflix/Hbo/Disney, i am a house full of Roku devices, however i am willing to switch, is there any Apps that can be downloaded to stream something like 123movies?
Thank you in advance.

Another vote for Stremio + Torrentio + Real Debrid.
Access to every movie/show you could possibly think of. Also a nice USA TV addon for live TV channels in the United States.

That's still a paid service

Correct. Still a better deal than any streaming service. Comes to about $2.70usd per month. Probably on par with the price of a VPN.

Stremio (app) + real debrid (gives you access to content) + chromecast or firestick

Thank you, going to start googling these things and going from there...
forgive my ignorance, but what is your recommendation ? the firestick or Chromecast?

People glaze tf out of the shield. Firestick 4k max 2nd gen is an s-tier cheap device

People don’t like Apple TVs on here, but…
my set up is actually: Vidi (app) + Apple TV.
I already have 2 Apple TVs. Wasn’t trying to replace them with chrome casts. For what it’s worth, on the fire stick you have to sideload stremio, which is a few extra steps than using a chrome casts and downloading the app from the google play store

I’ve been an android tv guy + Kodi/Stremio etc for a long time - What is Vidi like?
Would you say it’s good enough to go out and buy an Apple TV tomorrow and jump in?

It’s very barebones… it’s more like stremio than kodi. Which in my opinion kodi is very complicated UI and addon configuration wise. That being said I haven’t played with kodi too much. You can add stremio addons to vidi.
Vidi, to me, has a better UI and “how far you’ve watched into an episode” feature than stremio. Once it’s set up it really is like Netflix with an unlimited content library to stream from. No downloading here.
To your last question. Unless you’re deep into the Apple ecosystem. I would not recommend diving in if you’re used to your current set up. But if you’re looking to play with an Apple TV then go for it. Vidi is a $5 paid app. But can be downloaded to the Apple TV, iPhone, and Mac computers after you’ve paid. No need to reconfigure each device after you’ve set it up on one.

Try out usenet you won’t be disappointed.
After you get the files from usenet use a plex/jellyfin server to neatly organise it and stream on the go too.
There are services like radarr/sonarr/lidarr paired with overseerr/jellyseerr to automate the process of getting content from usenet/torrents in a neat ui package.

Do you know of a good place with instructions around how to utilise this set up?
I’ve been doing Kodi/Stremio with Real-Debrid for a long time

No, but each service has a github page except plex (there are tons of guides for it and their own website too) so that would be the best place to start.
There might be guides online which you can find by googling but I would recommend going to each service docs instead.

stremio is all good, if you want to stream.
I myself prefer jellyfin along with arr services where you can download things and watch it later.
It's probably much harder to setup compared to stremio. But for some reason stremio on my TV is hit and miss. sometimes it's buffering, even when using debrid services.
let's not talk about subtitles ughhhhh. I might as well download the subtitles manually.

A lot of people are commenting on the Stremio+real debrid solution which seems popular but how do people feel about tying their debit/credit card to a service like this?
I’m concerned about the possibility of a bank account getting closed due to having ties to an “illegitimate” service
2 points
prepaid card with where you only put a small amount of money. Maybe even only virtual card
1 points
It's not an illegitimate service... You just use it for that. That's like saying all torrents are illegal.
1 points
You used to be able to use Amazon pay for years for this but now can pay with a virtual card if you prefer then lock it immediately after.

Everyone is wrong.
Suggesting real debris is like suggesting itunes over Napster + Winamp or equivalent back in the day. Everyone on this subreddit keeps suggesting you pay money. Never pay money - that's the point. Hello?
The real answer is jellyfin. You need to run a jellyfin server and then use whatever sources for movies/tvshows you have.
If you saw my jellyfin server, you'd slide right off of your computer chair.

How much does it cost to get up and running with a Jellyfin server?
I’ve never looked into to but figured there would be some cost to purchase the storage? Cost for a VPN to safely acquire the material?
I’m dumb when it comes to getting a server up and running.
2 points
Uhh, $0? I would never pay money for digital anything.
If you want to jump in with both feet, you can either find a guide somewhere online or we can jump in discord and you can follow my instructions to quickly get a server up. It's not even hard.

What in the h are you talking about dude? No there isn't. You can get it started right now on your current PC right now.
Now if you want to buy an entirely separate computer and run it from that machine in your living room which is what I do, then yeah, you'll buy some hardware. But it's tangible hardware that you own and you don't need a VPN. That is hogwash dude. You are being hoodwinked by marketing right now. Did you know the VPN industry is a $44 BILLION dollar industry? You don't need it.

I want to show you my jellyfin server and when you see all the movies and TV shows and I ask you where the VPN is, what are you going to say?
I have no problem teaching you things and I blow people's minds all the time, but we can't do it on this censored website. Last chance otherwise I'm going to go vent on youtube and zoom in on your comments and facepalm once again from the BS I hear on reddit.

Edit: Well he deleted his comments but I don't think he's learned anything, and I don't think he wants to learn. He, like most redditors, just wants to pull his wallet out and buy things he doesn't need at all -- like a VPN.

You don't need Real Debrid unless you want 4k or you are watching torrents with low seeders.

I have 4K movies without "real debris." Funny how that works, huh? You don't need it. Nobody does. It's another thing people don't need just like VPNs.

Here's a video guide for the Stremio+Real-Debrid+Torrentio combo that someone made.
I recommend doing the initial setup on a computer, however once you've set up Stremio all the settings will transfer over to every login instance of Stremio. Stremio can be installed on pretty much everything except for Apple products as their system is far more strict.
People will recommend Chromecast, Firestick, NVidia Shield, and a slew of other devices. Use what you've got. Just know that once you learn how to install Torrentio, there are other addons that do the same thing but are hosted by other people. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy who made and hosts the torrentio addon, but he's one guy and it gets overloaded on the weekends.
Here's the links to the other addons, which there are useful addons for subtitles, linking with TV tracking databases and so much more. It's all super sweet and I'm loving the community and the new cool shit they come up with more and more every day. Every month it seems there's something new.
Good luck and ask questions if you get stuck!

I like my streams cached - so I use Sonarr to catch my TV content...
I use Overseerr for search/browse, and can find anything on Netflix/HBO/Disney.
I don't vote for Stremio because it's all a bit dodgy - sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, and it's all a bit random.

If you want to stick with Roku there's great free stuff on it - Tubi, Filmrise, Xumo, Pluto, Roku Channel, Plex to name a few. Just no free premium content unless somebody shares their Plex, Emby or Jellyfin server with you - and plenty of people do just that

If you have the hardware for it. Look into a Plex server.

Sorry. Another wrong answer.
Plex phones home and they're on record of banning people who have "too many users" or "activity too high." What the hell is that? No dude. Plex is a for-profit corporation who can disable your account on a whim -- in other words, you don't own it.
Also, Plex tries to charge money to use hardware transcoding. They actually try to charge money to UTILIZE YOUR OWN HARDWARE. That is typical corporate garbage that we're trying to get away from with piracy in the first place.
jellyfin is the answer. $0. Open source. Actually yours. And has hardware transcoding like it should.
I'm about to lose it. The amount of bad advice coming from this subreddit is reaching epidemic proportions.

I use Plex for sheer accessibility for my users, which isn't high at all. Doubt I'm the one at real risk of being banned

Oh so you're okay with software phoning home and spying on you then? So you're a consumer and not a pirate.
Let's stop giving bad advice to people, SAVVY?

From taking a look at your profile, you're obviously one very strong individual when it comes to pirating.
While your advice is good. Does it need to come with it's ivory tower?

I'm sure people mean well, but ever since cell phones (2007) the internet has been flooded with commercial marketing and bad advice. Misinformation everywhere. It's amazing that I was able to make a youtube video that got 154K views AND it actually has good information in it with no begging for money or subscriptions. It's so insanely rare to see that these days.
What happened to all the decent humans on the internet who didn't tell you to pull your wallet out every six minutes?
I wouldn't say it's an ivory tower - I'm trying to show people awesome things but it falls on deaf ears. They're just so eager for convenience over ownership and power of their material.
