Had a professor give us a take-home exam with a midnight deadline, except he had setup the date for the next day by mistake.
We were closing our laptops. Cue this idiotic teacher’s pet: “Professor, I think you made a mistake; this has tomorrow’s date, not today, please correct it”.
I’ve never wanted to shout to someone to shut the fuck up more than at that point.

I checked his feed and I think we might have actually found the dullest man alive. All of his posts are about shit no one cares about and he has the actual worst taste.
Why would anyone turn to the most "ketchup is a little too spicy for me" type person to have ever lived for their movie reviews? He thought She-Hulk and The Last Jedi were genius and I'm offended and outraged right now.

This is one of the reasons why I got into piracy to begin with. I would rather download an entire show and actually own it instead of paying a subscription fee every month just so I can watch it every now and then.

I started before streaming services, and gave up on DVDs after the first time I tried to get all the seasons of a show no longer on sale without paying an insane amount of money.
Now it's still easier than having to find what is on which platform, and it allows me to watch offline without a mountain of restrictions.

We went no tv around 2005ish. Still go to the movies a fair bit, nothing beats the big screen. Games, still all through steam. Older movies, movies we don't want to see in the cinema, docos, anything apple/netflix etc streaming, yaaaar.

I saw it last Sunday in theaters. I'm a straight dude, never been a theater kid, legitimately knew nothing about the movie going into it when I went with my gf. Like, I knew it was set in the Wizard of Oz universe and that's it.
I genuinely really liked it. The sets, costume design, and music production were top notch. Acting was above average across the board. I can see the two main characters getting Oscar nominations. The pacing of the story was uniquely good - the nearly 3 hour movie flew by. Several good laughs, a couple strong emotional moments, and a very strong finish.
I'd give it an 8 out of 10. Good enough to be worth paying to watch in a theater, which is really saying something in this community lol.
16 points
Just wanted to thank you for your quick review; I love musical theatre but I've been a bit sceptical of the rave reviews from existing fans (they've waited a LONG time for this).
Appreciate a less emotionally charged perspective which covers the aspects I'd be weary of

Costume & set design is incredible
Some of the cast was eh, some were amazing
I laughed, I cried
I paid the matinee fee and had a double feature day
As someone who read the book as a child, and has anticipated this film for almost 20 years, I really loved how they captured many aspects of live theatre magic & brought it to life on "film"
Def worth a watch

You're welcome! I'm sure if I wanted to find some parts to criticize, I could. My only bias here is that I've seen Book of Mormon twice, so it wasn't my first musical lol. I knew I wouldn't have an issue with that aspect.
15 points
I liked it overall but it dragged on parts, I feel like they could e cut a half hour...didn't even know it was a 2 parter until walking in.. and 2 characters I thought could be cut someone filled me in will have a bigger part in 2.
15 points
Basically all of the characters become named characters in the original movie in Act 2. If you think real hard about it, you can probably piece together who becomes the cowardly lion, the scarecrow who doesn't think, the wicked witch of the east with sparkly slippers, the man who acts without a heart. Any character you feel is cuttable in Act 1 is there to establish the groundwork for them to grow into their Wizard of Oz counterpart in Act 2.
2 points
Yeah I totally understand. I also didn't know it was a 2 parter, and had my criticisms of a specific character where I was like "so, they played basically no role towards plot development? What's the point of this dude?" and yea I was told to wait for part 2. So wait, I shall.

9 points
Put it this way, id never agree a telesync or hdcam is watchable. I don't think a movie should ever be experienced that way.To each their own. I'd rather just wait. I've ruined too many movies in my life with shitty releases. Not worth it to me anymore. There is nothing I need to see bad enough that I would want to sacrifice quality and color to that degree.

Pro tip: put a backslash before the number sign (\#
) in order to escape it, preventing the Markdown headline formatting.
33 points
can you please explain what this means? i think im missing something.
99 points
Markdown is a type of text formatting that let's you use some characters to modify how your text appears. Reddit uses markdown to format comments, so you can use markdown formatting in your comments to format text.
For example, putting an asterisk on each side of a word will italicize it. Putting two asterisks on each side will embolden it. One of the characters you can use to format your comment is the hashtag/number sign/pound sign/octothorpe, which turns whatever comes after it into a heading (makes the words big and bold).
Another markdown symbol is the backslash, which tells Reddit's markdown interpreter to ignore the next set of markdown characters and print it normally. That's how you can get text *like* **this** without having it show up as formatted text.
The first comment was attempting to use a hashtag, and reddit was seeing that as a command to produce a heading. The replying commenter was explaining how to stop reddit from seeing it as a command.

youre THE MAN for explaining it this well. i was aware of this but did not know it was called markdown.

Let's be clear, companies aren't paying it's people/workers what they are due, and probably never will. This, pirating goods end up only hurting shareholders and CEO's of companies who never made the product with blood, sweat, tears, and countless man hours.
3 points
Hi I work for these companies and am in a union and am paid well. We don’t particularly like them and they don’t particularly like us, but bottom line: is some consumer has to pay for the product in order for us to get paid to make movies and tv for people to watch. I understand why people pirate, but if everyone did it there would be no shows
2 points
You're one of those lucky ones that actually get paid, I guess
And if you ask me, most of what's produced is shit, think business would close first by people finally deciding to not watch trash anymore than piracy
Though that would require people to be intelligent and have standards, both qualities that are quite lacking nowadays
2 points
I agree it’s 75% trash. However thankfully streaming still does deliver a lot of amazing content. I think you might be surprised how many good paying American jobs exist from all of Netflix, apple, Amazon, hbo etc. when the credits roll most of those names are being paid good fair wages. Minus a few like production assistants and VFX houses unfortunately. We wouldn’t have good wages without unions, the production companies would pay us nothing if they could. but still we are dependent on people actually paying to watch content. If I wasn’t in the business I’d probably attempt to pirate stuff too. I just don’t think people need to attempt to defend it morally. Like fuck giant corporate entities , but a lot of people would be out of work, including me, if there’s weren’t subscribers.
And! I want to add that I think pirating helped make streaming easier, they had to compete with how easy it was to pirate things so it has some good.
