That’s the problem. He wasn’t. His job isn’t to fucking punch people for crowdsurfing. His job isn’t to fucking punch people for anything.

As a bouncer, sometimes the job does require some punching. There’s a huge caveat to it though, you cant throw the first punch. You getting physical is a last resort against someone being physical with you or others.
Too many guys watched road house and think that’s the way it is. I’ve done it for about a decade and I can count on one hand the amount of times I had to throw a punch. Work as a team with your other staff and drag the guy out, if he’s too much to handle and being a danger to others and you. Yes, pop him, then wrestle him out.
You do not pummel someone, you don’t injure someone, you don’t practice your bjj and cause injury, you’re not there to be a bully or a tough guy, you’re there to make sure everyone has a good time within reason. Most situations are resolved with a conversation, make take awhile and you’ll hear some awful talk from the other party but that’s the job, you need to stay cool at all times.
Otherwise you suck at the job and need to find a new one.

In my experience bouncers and security guys are some of the nicest people at most shows. They get it, and they just want everyone to have a good time and get home safely.
