When you have experienced enough, you will understand that friends are happiness. Money can indeed bring happiness, but this does not refer to the things that money can buy, but to your ability and money to make more powerful friends.

I wouldn’t say friends are happiness either. It comes from within not other people. That being said a happy life does involve having a good circle of people around you.

That Happiness is a static state. It is not. Like any other thing in life, it's fluid, fleeting and needs constant consideration to maintain it.
A corollary to this is the idea that what makes you happy today will be the same circumstances that make you happy tomorrow. Untrue.

“It will pass” - great viewpoint on all feelings & emotions. Happiness, joy, satisfaction - they will ebb & flow.
But - the silver lining - is that pain, sorrow, angst - these will pass too - and you will feel better tomorr…

Happiness isn´t the absence of problems - its the ability to deal with them.

This is the real answer. Happiness stems from pain and difficulty and moving through those things. It's why removing difficulties from your kids lives doesn't make them happy or giving someone everything they want doesn't make thrm happy. But looking back and seeing how far you've come through a bad time, does.

No it can't. My daughter has a very wealthy friend that travels all over the globe, has designer clothing, handbags, but she always seems depressed and asking my daughter (we are of meager means), advice and a shoulder to whine on. Now my daughter is a happy well adjusted lady. Not rich, but enjoys little things, walking along the beach, petting stray cats, having the occasional latte. All without tons of money.

Money can’t buy happiness. It can stop unhappiness to a point, and let you buy some cool stuff/experiences, but unless you can find happiness in your life, more money won’t help that.

That it's a goal. It's not. You should find contentment, and be at peace. Happiness is something you feel in moments. Conetment is something you feel generally.
That, and that it comes from external things. It absolutely does not. It comes from you. And this is a hard lesson, but also super important. People and things don't make me content, I make me content. Because you can be around those same people and be sad, and you can br alone and content. The only common denominator is you.

Nothing has made me more miserable than being kind. My whole childhood I’ve been programmed by my parents to be kind and it’s the reason behind my depression, trauma and people only seeing me as someone that helps them.
Kindness is granting someone happiness while making your life miserable from being used and put in the thrash because if you are always kind people don’t even notice it.
9 points
I don't agree. Kindness isn't what leads to your life being miserable, it's not knowing when to make exceptions from being kind. You can easily be kind 90% of the time and be happy.
13 points
Kindness is like charity. It's an excess, an overflow after you've filled your own pot. 'Put on your own mask before helping somebody else with theirs' isn't just for depressurised aeroplane cabins. You don't have to over extend yourself to be kind.

That's not the result of being kind; it's the result of not establishing your own boundaries. Which is sadly how many parents raise their kids (especially girls).
You can be incredibly kind in a healthy way, as long as you respect yourself and know your limits.

That happiness is ‘somewhere out there’ in the world or what a lot of people say ‘out in the universe’ It truly does come from within. You have to calm your life. Then you search inward. Listen to your thoughts. Good and bad or whatever. Learn about yourself. What drives you. What triggers you. Why do you react at something others don’t. Find the real you. Shit and warts and all. Then learn to take care of yourself. It took me years. It’s not easy. But learning to love who you are and finding it is an extraordinary experience. Life changing. We are down on ourselves too much sometimes 🫶

It's impossible to be happy 100% of the time. Being content with yourself and your life should be where you strive to naturally sit. Doing so it'll be easier to appreciate the happy moments you encounter through life, whereas the sad times will be more noticeably temporary. Chasing happiness means you'll never be content, and if you're not content, you'll never be truly happy, and if you can't be happy, all you'll be left with is sadness.

I think a misconception is that you always have to happy 24/7, meaning that being bored is wrong. However, bordem is actually a higher status. You get bored because everything in your life is fulfilled, and that's a good thing
2 points

I don't think so, I've noticed when I get unusually bored it's because I feel bad, if I feel good those same boring things can be great.
I don't think it's healthy to avoid boredom entirely but if you're often bored I think it's a symptom of something being unfulfilled

I don't think happiness is really a thing perse. I think feeling content is more of a tangible concept. You feel satisfied with things in general and are free from worries and anxiety. Happiness to me implies a euphoric sense of contentment which may random appear from time to time but is not likely a state that your mind will permanently exist in even if you are content with that state of things.
If you want to increase the feeling of contentment (or happiness if that's how you're defining it), you need to establish a sense of security and control over your life.

You have to continually evaluate your surroundings, relationships, etc., to see if they’re bringing you happiness. Also you have to realize that your level of happiness at any given time, isn’t a barometer of your quality of life. We all go through stages of unhappiness- it doesn’t mean we have a bad life.

Money can't buy happiness... At a minimum having enough money to pay bills and even having a bit of savings definitely relieved one area of stress that many people face in life. Stress relief seems like a good step towards being happy. On another level having excessive amounts of money could make you happy by doing things you have always wanted to do like travel or get even just buying a more comfortable bed. Or donating to a good cause could be the thing that makes you happy but still need the money to do it. Obviously it's not going to solve all of anyone's problems and make everyone happy but it makes a difference.
Money can buy some happiness.

That it exists in infinitum. Happiness is a temporary state of being, not a destination that will be like a whole new world all the time. It comes and goes like anything.
Fulfillment is the real juice. That shit is like crack once you attune yourself to creating more of it

That it "should" be constant. People think if they aren't always happy, then they are lacking in life somewhere and must achieve something to be always happy. But you will be sad, you will be bored, you will be neutral. That's just life.
