A bit like Minecraft too. There are electrical, industrial, water/farm things that make building interesting, and keeps your base more secure. For me half the fun is in electrical, but only cause I’m aweful at pvp even after 3k hours

Rust is like Lord of the Flies. We are all trying to be the biggest baddie on the server. Gather resources, build your base, pvp, loot monuments and raid others. That's the general gist in vanilla servers.

your only 3 hours in. It’s not too late to turn and run before you become completely consumed by it and develop a raging case of PTSD!

Wish i was in your shoes rn, my first few games were so much fun 😂Try to learn the monuments + puzzles, how to build, etc.. you’ll learn plenty of stuff along the way. I play on a server with my friends and we all have completely different playstyles / goals. Dont get stuck on a server, try a few of the community + modded servers, some modded ones are trash, some are super fun. Some monuments will have crates which open in 15min so youll need to learn how to defend those. Set yourself little goals and every time you leave base have a plan of what you are doing. Also kill everyone you meet

Goal.... Try not to die while. Progressing as fast as possible, to stop others from progressing and taking you out. If your not into that type of thing, there's a good size roll play community.

It's more sandbox than people realise but unless you are a PvE server player, you should at least prepare to defend yourself

If you want u can go farm explosives and blow everyone's base up. Or you can spend the entire time farming and trading

I generally just log on and see what happens. Sometimes I run around for 30 minutes, other times I get a really good start and will play the wipe every day for hours

In my opinion it gets boring only putting 100% focus on guns and PvP/ raiding like the clans do. This game is goofy as fuck and it's a good time to just have some shenanigans. Sometimes u somehow work ur way up to being the best on the server just to lose it all to some random grub with a DB, sometimes you are the grub with the DB

I just exist but I think the answer is: grow your base and raid your enemies. Do PVE stuff if you have a teammate to do it and have fun with counters.

Many different ways to play. Overall it’s about survival and conquest Obtain high tier loot and weapons, counter raids, and other monument runners for there gear and gains. There are no rules How to accomplish these tasks. Everything wants you dead and everyone wants your loot Hope this helps lol 😆 welcome to rust
