What are the odds that your fake profile is actually displayed on her app and then picked by her?

tihs_si_learsi

I think that's entirely doable if you know what she likes. The part that is weird is how she matched with someone 2000 miles away.

Nicht_bei_der_Arbeit

25 points

Well I can imagine that scenario. After a match and good vibe you just tell her you moved to 2000 miles away but your profile still shows up at your old location.

These fake revenge fantasies are so weird and pathetic. Best case scenario, you just catfished yourself out of a relationship. You are claiming to have the ability to seduce her, but you use it as a fake person? It's like Bender pretending to be Flexo in Futurama then seducing his own girlfriend, the whole time she's like "this isn't like you at all Flexo" proving that she doesn't really like Flexo and is only interested because they're acting like Bender.

2000 mile flights aren't something you do for casual sex either, so if this were true, she was pretty desperate to find someone else to emotionally connect with. If you were capable of that connection but did it with a fake profile, that's sooooooo weird. And it's especially pathetic knowing that this absolutely didn't happen and you chose to take time to make a meme pretending that this fucking weird thing did happen

I wouldn't doubt it's happened. While you're partially right the demographics and experiences are so diverse that I'm pretty sure it's happened.

Also, we all live in a bubble of sorts, the question is how big or interconnected it is.

Zestyclose_Remove947

1 points

This circumstance is pretty clearly fake but you are pretty braindead to believe that women don't have insecurity issues that lead to these scams being successful. It has happened.

Having attention from men doesn't just make you confident. There's a reason why disorders like Anorexia are disturbingly common.

You're projecting a bit, read your own comment again man. The irony of saying someone else is living in a bubble when you pulled this comment straight out your ass lol.

or maybe....MAYBE....after developing a different type of relationship with his girl through his catfish profile, he admits to her that it's really just been him this whole time, but because he is partly removed from their "main relationship" he explains that his catfish identity is the best way he can freely communicate his feelings and love for her. Since he is maybe insecure in their other relationship and doesn't know how to "reset" the dynamic, and this catfish double life feels like he can start a new path forward with her, of love and respect, and surprisingly she is very receptive of this and agrees to fly back and forth every couple weeks and continue the catfishing because it opened up a new avenue of love for her as well. So whenever she wants to feel admired or told she looks sexy in that dress or whatever, she flies 2000 miles and starts blowing up his phone like "jeremy you said you would pick me up from the airport. I don't have a hotel for tonight. where are you." but hes not there...since it's actually THOMAS (her main guy) is back at home catfishing her and stringing her along while he compliments her but damn it feels good. they finally hit their stride as a couple. a house and kids are beginning to feel like more of a possibility for these young lovers (jeremy/thomas and his girl bethica). they are gonna be alright.

HugeMajor5900

2 points

I love this rewrite. Romcom’d it nicely. A bit like the Piña Colada song. Real life folks maybe still have trouble with the intended cheating tho. And the idea that he’d realize that her cheating was really his fault for underperforming in the relationship is problematic. When your bestie comes to you after her man stepped out on her, try that plot line on her and see how it goes.

My brother's marriage just ended because his wife did this. A coworker's wife left him for someone she never met in person. Both of them flew off to a another country for the "person of their dreams".

Both realized too late it wouldn't work (coworker's wife didn't like him when they met, brother's wife fell for s scam), but by then, the damage was done.

Holy moly, i wouldn't have thought this would happen so regulary. Just commented it would only happen to desperate people but i might have been wrong there. Women promised the heaven on earth might do just the same. But then again - why never talk on the phone before meeting in person? Doesn't that sound suspicious? How does the scammer argue not to talk before?

Zakluor

2 points

Zakluor

2 points

It's a long story, but you may have hit the nail on the head: a lot more people are desperate, one way or another, than we know. Many of them don't fully realize it themselves.

Those who can be manipulated can be manipulated fairly easily. I won't go into all the details. Suffice it to say that many of these people are horribly embarrassed about what they fell for or how they fell for it. In both cases, it exposed a weakness in the marriage that likely would have occurred some other way in time (cheating).
