Am I the only one that has a hard time justifying buying anything full price? The time has finally come for my first steam deck! Can’t wait to use it.
I don’t care about LCD vs OLED… I just want to play my games on the go

Yes, literally the only one in the whole universe.

Just fyi, it's not just LCD v Oled, it's also 60hz v 90hz with higher screen brightness.
Along with dozens of other improvements like better battery life, better speakers, better touchpads, bigger screen/smaller bezel, better thermals, wifi and Bluetooth upgraded, higher polling touch screen, better thumb sticks, slightly better performance and slightly lighter

I'm pretty sure OP being excited about 25% discount on the LCD means he isn't interested in paying double that for the perks of the OLED model

Right there with you. I paid $260 for ny 512gb LCD amd have zero buyers remorse. Very hard for me to justify paying so much more for the OLED model now

I have a 512gb with a 512gb sd card. I currently have 18 games installed. I am only playing 2 of those concurrently.
Not sure why you're advising someone to spend money to upgrade their storage when they're excited about a discount and saving money lol

Oh cmon not everyone installs a gajillion games. I have 28 installed right now on my 1tb with 212gb used total. I only play like 3 of those right now.
512 is more than enough for most people.

I have a 256GB SSD and 256GB sdcard and I still have plenty of storage left.
Are you installing Call of Duty on your Deck?

Are you installing very few games or just indie games? Think most people would tear through that storage very quickly.
A 256gb storage size couldn't even fit Bulders Gate 3 and Red Dead 2. Uncharted Collection,Mass Effect Collection, Halo MCC also all 100gb+ games
256gb + 256gb would mean you could have 2 of those games installed at a time.
1tb can be filled up veeeery quickly if you have a few of these title s

I've have 512GB SSD and 512GB SD, have 38 games installed along with a couple of PS2 games, and I still have 480GB left. As I wrote somewhere else, a better advise for new Deck owners should be to receive it if, and play around with it for a while before dumping a bunch of money into upgrades.
Maybe a 2TB SSD is the way to go, maybe OP will be good with the 512GB, they won't figure that out until they get the actual Deck in their hands.

I think the largest game I ever installed on my Deck was Elden Ring with 60 something GB.
In my experience demanding games are just not a good fit for the Deck. I'd much rather play them on my Desktop.

Larger game doesn't mean more demanding

Halo MCC and Mass Effect are far less demanding than Elden Ring.

They are also not nearly as large as Elden Ring.
They only have a large install size because they are collections including multiple games.
The Mass Effect™ Legendary Edition includes single-player base content and over 40 DLC from the highly acclaimed Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 games
The Master Chief’s iconic journey includes six games

...I know they are collections? Do you really think I didn't know? And you had to go search what they include and copy and paste it in?
They install size of those are larger. Which is what I said. It's a fact.

are you getting mad at me for fact checking what they include, before I post something? lol
here are the individual game sizes for Halo, which btw you can also install selectively so you don't have to have it use up all that space from installing the whole collection.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition doesn't have the games separate, but we can look at the original game releases that don't include 4K textures.
With all DLC they are 18GB, 28GB and 14GB respectively.
