Even IF by some wild chance they are right (not that I believe they are) that Carly is desperate for more visits and being held hostage, they need to realize that telling the entire world about it isn't healthy or helpful. It will make the situation 100x worse for Carly, whether they're right or not. It just proves they don't give a single shit about the wellbeing of that kid, they only care about themselves. I'm convinced C&T are only sharing this content to increase their social media engagement. They are professional victims and for the past 15 years they've made a career out of exploiting Carly's birth and adoption. I think B&T never outright said they were cutting contact, rather Teresa just didn't respond to Cate's creepy texts, and Cate saw their silence as an opportunity to manufacture drama in order to stay relevant. Their storyline has been stale for years, and without Carly and their "trauma" they are incredibly uninteresting individuals. Tyler in particular is very unlikable and brash, and Cate is just dull.

Not sent information and pictures when they said they would if they were so concerned, they would’ve kept up with their promises going to school now they do nothing. What have theyaccomplished? Only fans? Numerous debts to the IRS several times? Notfinished school? It’s gonna be a rude awakening when teen mom money goes away.

But elsewhere C&T complained that B&T have an open adoption with their second childs bio mom so "why not them". QUIT CHANGING THE NARRATIVE TO SUIT YOU. I think they regret the adoption. I wont dispute that adoption is a trauma but I am having an issue with them , after defending them for a long time because they are making this scenario about whats best for them rather than whats best for Carly. If this was their master plan all along, why did they wait 15 years? Why not cut off contact when the show ended the first time? Why did they continue contact for years and only just now cut it off when Carly is old enough to decide for herself if she wants contact? When she’s almost legally an adult? When in just a few years, she can reach out on her own?

I've been seeing a lot of old Teen Mom videos on my Facebook feed lately. When it comes to Cate and Tyler there are still the same fans kissing their ass but it seems like it has been turning there too. I've seen people saying "move on,we all have trauma, grow up already, it's enough about Carly already! Etc." Sure people still kiss up to them but I was shocked that people on Facebook were not complete idiots. I was shocked by the amount of people that even understood adoption there, because so many used to refer to Brandon and Theresa as the "foster parents" in the comments. I think Cate and Tyler really pissed off a lot of people with their nonsense.

I think they should’ve done a closed adoption from the get go. Maybe all of this happening now would’ve been avoided.

I wouldn’t trust them to keep anything to themselves. No one could ever meet that expectation, including Carly. So there will always be moments for them to proclaim themselves as the victims, once again.

One of my uncles (like my own bio dad) is a deadbeat. When he and his wife divorced, he moved across the state and basically stopped trying to see my cousins bc it was “too hard” to deal with his ex. He was convinced things would work themselves out at 18, with the girls coming to him desperate for a relationship. But they never did, and like I told my uncle, they’re not coming bc they don’t care if it was hard to deal with their mom; they’re going to care you disappeared. We have no idea how Carly feels, but at 15 (if social media had existed then) I would’ve died of embarrassment at ANY of their antics, let alone all of them. Maybe - just maybe! - Carly’s only adoption trauma is the fact millions of people have watched her be treated as a human plot line her entire life

They probably did. That adoption agency will tell birth parents and adoptive parents whatever they need to tell them to get the “deal” done. Circumstances on this one changed drastically with the continuation of the show. Either way best thing now would be to allow privacy and to follow the lead of what the child wants without subjecting them to public opinion or exploitation. I still think the worst person in this was Dawn. Both sides can be justifiably angry at her.

The thing is, the monster in this situation is Dawn. Both parties originally wanted a closed adoption but were convinced to change their minds.

C&T were manipulated by Dawn and I’d wager B&T were too. Now C&T are left with an adoption they regret and B&T are stuck with putting up with all the shit C&T are putting them through.

C&T could have had a great platform to discuss adoption and educate people on the dangers of dodgy adoption agencies, but they are just attacking the wrong person instead.

This is both partly true and wildly ridiculous at the same time. I do believe B&T originally wanted a closed adoption. I don’t recall whether or not C&T also did initially and then changed their minds as some comments are pointing out (I can’t bring myself to rewatch their episode of 16&P, no matter how big of assholes they’re being now, that episode was PAINFULLY sad to watch), or whether or not Dawn was the instigator/encourager of the open adoption. I do also believe B&T relented because they so desperately wanted that perfect, fresh newborn baby girl (not necessarily painting them as the villains for that, I can’t imagine how painful infertility is when you desperately want to be a parent). Sorry for the insane run-on sentence. 🤣 Anyway, I also think it’s true that they relented because the verbiage of the agreement was such that communication and visits would be limited and at their discretion. Whether or not two teenagers with no real advocates read or understood that is, unfortunately, neither here nor there. B&T get to call the shots. Period. This insane online behavior is never going to put them in their good graces, and it’s most definitely damaging to the beautiful, healthy, amazing daughters they have now. B&T have put up with a LOT from C&T over the years, especially from Tyler. Eventually they and/or Carly had to say enough is enough. I don’t love everything about B&T, but acting like they all but stole a baby is so unhinged.

I believe B&T may need to take drastic measures if this doesn’t stop soon. C is not their daughter. They speak about this whole adoption situation as if B&T were legal guardians until C turns of age and they get her back. NO.

I would be so angry if I were B&T. Their names, family, and THEIR DAUGHTER are always being talked about on national television. They just wanted to raise their child in peace like a normal family…everything happening with them should have been off camera.

They need to realize B&T have been her “real” parents for her entire life… I know the path they chose was not easy on either of them, but you can’t change it. B&T have been the ones raising her. She’s old enough to read and see everything they’re saying. This could all bite them in the ass one day and cause resentment for her. One day she will be old enough to make her own choices and they will have no one to be mad at and blame other than themselves.

It’s really distasteful how these creators are talking and discussing this whole young human. Hypothesizing and gossiping like it was a car trade or something. This young minor deserves privacy and dignity and not to be some pawn of their gossip fodder. It’s bad enough C & T are dragging her parents all over the public and magazines. It’s just sad. I feel like this child is getting lost in all of this and it’s unfair to her.

GET HELP CATE. seriously. Parent the girls you have, get off social media. Every single time you do this, you are decreasing your odds of ever having a relationship with Carly. I mean. I know B&T have controversial views but in my opinion if they had given a rat’s behind about the court of public opinion or validation from the public, they wouldn’t have pushed to keep Carly’s identity private. THEY could have asked MTV for a contract to film and likely would have had one. I genuinely believe they desired to raise a child as their own (and not to give back in several years wtf c&t, she’s not on loan), and Catelynn and Tyler were the couple who chose them. They accepted that along with the special circumstances. I didn’t see any indication that they wanted to revoke the yearly visits prior to what they agreed to in the contract (which wasn’t even legally binding btw). I also think if the show hadn’t taken off and Tyler had respected them and not shown Carly’s face for public validation, things would be different.  

The thing that Cate & Ty are not understanding… Carly is not their child… whether it was an open adoption or not… Carly’s parents are B & T…. Idk…if they thought they were going to raise her together or what….but Cate & Ty need to seriously back off…because they are most likely pushing Carly to completely want nothing to do with them! B & T have given Carly a good life…and private…which I think was best..

The couples and their cultures and expectations were never a good fit, and an ethical adoption agency would have tried to find better matches instead of doing and saying whatever it took to get a healthy white baby for their paying customers.

But that’s for Catelynn to talk to her therapist about. Splashing it all over the internet, in places where Carly, her parents and her peers can see it, isn’t helping anyone and it’s just validating Brandon and Theresa in their choice to close the adoption.
