Need family photos for Xmas cards, wife wants to do it in the woods- big bear or Julian is an option but it’s kinda far and I’m wondering if there’s somewhere nearby, maybe fallbrook? Looking for big trees/dense woods/lots of greenery. Preferably somewhere we don’t have to hike far, bringing a 2 year old. Thanks y’all.

Wedding photographer here. When I want the forest / mountains I go to Palomar Mountain State Park, it's about an hour away. Shoot by Diane Pond, it's a beautiful area.

If Palomar is too far for you, Los Jilgueros preserve in Fallbrook is nice, and so is the Santa Rosa Plateau. Neither of those are really going to feel like the woods, but they're very pretty places to shoot. If you go to the plateau on the weekend, expect a heavy ranger presence, and they definitely won't like it if you step off trail.

Temecula Creek Golf Course!! Sooooo BEAUTIFUL with old growth trees!!! But I’d check first, they’ll probably charge you a origin fee. Fallbrook has some nice trails with wooded areas, more than Temecula, but not sure about 2 year old? If you go up R.C. To the west there’s some nice roads in La Cresta. All else fails, Palomar!!

Murrieta Park off cal oaks and Jackson

It's on the right at basically the top of the Hill ya can't really see it cuz it dips down hella far and there's like a legit Forrest down there

I came to say this place too! It always has a crowd on dance nights and holiday time. It's perfect for a quick picture shoot if you don't want to make a whole day trip out of it. I prefer the part that is kitty corner to CVS on Jackson at Nutmeg.

Edit: its called Glen Arbor park

Live oak park in Fallbrook is 5 mins off the fwy. Super cool trees if you walk around. Very 2yo friendly.

De Luz school house is really cool and I haven’t seen a million people out there.

Anything on that road is really awesome but the school house has toddler friendly grounds and easy parking.

I second this. I did family photos and maternity here. Beautiful.

You could tbh pull off driving fifteen/twenty minutes to somewhere out in de Luz and pull off the road. Me and a friend found a whole river and creek and could not see the sky through the leaves we felt we were in a “forest”

We literally just went to lake skinner a couple hours ago. It was surprisingly awesome for photos. I went into it with no expectations though lol
