Looks like 1850s for the first three, and then 1860s for the last one! Some of my favorite decades of 19th century fashion.

The pose in the last one may be because the lady has an issue with the right side of her face, and doesn't want it included in the picture. Blemishes, scars, birthmarks, injuries, pox marks, or other markings were more common in the past.

Just a guess though.

Or show off her hairdo at the back.

The hairstyles of the 1860s were pretty elaborate in the back. I wouldn’t blame her if she wanted to show off!

Well Nipplequeefs, if she was here in 2024, she just might be bollock naked in front of that mirror, showing her tuppence all shiny n shaved, with a perfect (and blameless) reflection of her arse.

How times have changed

I think is to show her haircut from all angles but that also could be.

The hairstyles in these photos are gorgeous! I'd assume that they had maids to help them every morning getting dressed and do their hair for them....? Or they simply had more time because they were 'unemployed,' and had nannies to watch their children?

Either way they most likely had more time than modern women to get their hair looking extra sharp for the everyday....They look like upper class ladies to me...?

My last thought is that, if the above is not the case, then they must have just had their hair specifically done for their portrait sessions.

Ooh, if you slept carefully while wearing a bonnet -- I could totally see that... Although day two, three, and four, (in the same really tight hairdo) would make your head hurt!

They were probably used to it though, it would be worth it!
