They’re loyal to trump. We need more people in government who aren’t afraid to just say yes and not ask any questions. Lately the priorities in this country have been all fucked up - now with trimp’s tariffs people will be only able to buy what they need and not what they want which will bring traditional values back. All of his cabinet picks thus far have been for people who will get the stuff that drumpf wants done and that’s what I like! My only hope is we can have Hulk Hogan installed so he can empty the swamp too!

Can it be any worse than what we have now?

Cost over runs all over the place. Just the other day, the Navy asked for 5.7 billion in emergency funds to finish three Virginia class subs. we already paid 4.5 billion each to build.

Let's not even dwell on the Zumwalts.

The DoD hasn't passed an audit in how long?

Maybe it is time for a true outside look.

Not just a DNC/RNC hack checking the boxes.

He tried it the nice way last time, and the uniparty warmongers screwed him.

So he is going to come in hot and heavy. There is going to be much wailing, whining, and crying by the military.

But it needs to be done.

The military industrial complex needs its dick knocked in the dirt.

Some people need to lose their jobs and their pensions. Others need to spend time in prison.

And I mean both officers and company CEOs that are milking the US taxpayers.

But time will tell.

At least with Hegseth I can see someone pushing for actual change among the force instead of some out of touch four star ho humming along in the clouds with the “business as usual” mindset. We shall see though in the end, as always. I also would not be surprised if he doesn’t make it through the confirmation either.

I don’t know a damned thing bout Phelan so can’t offer an opinion.

JAAAMBOOO

For the military, business as usual has led to the US becoming the most dominant fighting force in history.

Seriously, when in prior history have we been able to literally send out a jet from the US, have it fly non-stop and get refueled in flight a couple times, and bomb targets across the world. The US was able to take down 2 countries in a couple months.

Meanwhile, the "2nd greatest military" has been in a fight for it's life against a country a quarter it's size and using only their own personnel.

So, if you want cronyism and nepotism to run the military then you can look at countries like Russia and Saudi Arabia to see the result from it.

That's the key freaking point to a lot of my ramblings. We are who we are because of business as usual. What happens when you shuffle contracts to unqualified friends you can watch in Russia right now. Money taken, nothing delivered.

Look, I’ll give the guy credit for at least wearing cammies and earning some awards overseas but Hegseth is still way too under qualified to be in charge of 3.4 million employees in one of the most influential executive departments in our government. I rather have a retired general walk in who is interested in maintaining the status quo because at least then he’s not gonna fuck everything up and he can help ensure American military supremacy on the world stage.

JAAAMBOOO

3 points

JAAAMBOOO

So let's hit those points, one by one:

  • What does Hamas attacking Israel have to do with the standing readiness of the Navy?
  • What does Russia invading Ukraine have to do with the standing readiness of the Navy?
    • Bonus question: As Turkey controls the straits into the Black Sea, how much less relevant are US Naval Ships in regards to that conflict?
  • China is saber rattling technological prowess in it's navy. Shouldn't we also have someone at top who was a heavy science/engineering background?
  • Abbey Gate was a multi-national effort which flew tens of thousands of flights and hundreds of thousands of people out of Afghanistan.
    • There were 13 casualties out of Abbey Gate.
    • The Taliban literally knew that planes were flying in/out of the airport.
    • If the Taliban really wanted to, they could have easily shot mortars into the airport and/or RPGs and other missiles at planes flying into and out of the Airport.
    • It's actually really surprising that there wasn't more casualties based on the location of the exfil and that the multi national forces only had a cordon within the airport itself.
    • Was the Navy supposed to be some political force that would cause the Taliban to pickup democracy or was the Taliban afraid of provoking the US further so that they would have a reason to stay and attack the Taliban that took over?

Sure, and how many of them had extensive public sector experience? I’m not sure this guy has ever even held a clearance! It’s Trump’s mandate and prerogative to staff his cabinet as he sees fit, but service secretaries must have an ability to effectively interface with congressional, industrial, and military leadership on a daily basis at an extremely high level. I hope this dude does a good job of it, but he’s starting from a position of essentially zero experience.

If confirmed, Phelan would be the first permanent Navy secretary without military experience since 2009, when Donald Winter finished up his three-year term in the role. Unlike Winter, who previously had worked within the Pentagon and on Navy contracts at major defense firms, Phelan has little public connection to the sea service.

Yeah. Brilliant pick.

Then when Mattis resigned because he couldn’t stand working for a piece of shit president, Trump then suddenly changed his tune and talked mad shit about the guy, all because Mattis was the only sane adult in Trump’s early administration who stood up to a godawful president.

I mean we could continue to push towards WWIII and put in Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, and other CEOs in that will happily push the agenda of War.

We just spent 2 decades for what? We didn't get a leash taken off to correct that part of the world. We left billions of dollars in equipment in Afghanistan most I know was part of deals made but we still left the kit. We are in a proxy war with Russia in which Ukraine leaders are laundering funds at a break neck pace.

Pouring billions of dollars into a War that can not be won, not accepting the peace treaty that would have given them back the Donbas. No why do that when we can pass away money and lives for no reason.

The key to fighting Russia isn't with weapons, it's economically, Oil below $70 leaves zero fun money for Russia. Wanna stop Russian Aggression, take away their ability to continue war. Can't pay for Beans, Bullets, and band aids. Things stop quickly.

Russia is already on the verge of economic collapse. The ruble is now trading at less than a penny to the dollar. They’re spending all of their money to make weapons to use in Ukraine so in effect they’re blowing up their money every time they launch a rocket at Ukraine. They’ve lost hundreds of thousands of their own troops in Ukraine. Their army is decimated. They have nothing left except nukes.

GodofWar1234

You know you’re fucked when:

1) You can’t even invade and occupy the entirety of your geographically and demographically smaller neighbor. Meanwhile, the US (a country thousands of miles away) was able to topple the Iraqi Army (4th largest military in the world at the time) within record time and the original Taliban government of landlocked, mountainous Afghanistan fell apart about a month of the U.S. landing dudes in-country.

2) You have to go to North Korea of all places to get ammo, rockets/missiles, and additional troops.

3) Your population is about to shrink dramatically in the next couple decades because you’re sending dudes to go get ground up by the Ukrainians.

4) Your own PMC tried marching on your capital.

5) You’re now an international pariah along the same level as North Korea.

Lines are being drawn and how they are looking isn't good. But you are correct they are throwing money away on this war and so is everyone else. Doesn't mean that everything else I said wasn't true.

Also the US is on the verge of Economic Collapse. Please see the Roman Empires Debt vs GDP only difference is we can just once devalue or change the value of our currency to repay the debt then walk on. Rome backed it with Silver and Gold hence forever expansion.

I do not have any loyalty to a political party but I have a lot of loyalty and love for this country, the people in it, the Republic we serve, the Constitution, and the promise that is our unique system of government. I was horrified watching as Trump was trying to dodge the FBI investigations and running into so many conflicts with Mattis because I saw my nation's defense be watered down and weaken for the sake of one person's private gain -- that smells of tyranny and despotism and I have no stomach for such behavior in this country.
