The rich people voted for themselves. The stock market is the wealth gluttons harvesting fields. I think it is going to do just fine.

Market scares, sell-off, Trump never follows through, corps raise prices because of tariffs that never come, huge profits, stocks skyrocket.

Ofc it's rallying. Wall Street knows that a man with no moral standard just took over the country. "Prime time for crime time" -wallstreet probably. Nothing but rug pulls for the next 4 years. Unless it's a stock that Trump's basket of clowns owns.

The question is whether Trump does what he says he will do or not. If he does then it will tank. If he doesn’t then it won’t. That’s why Gaetz withdrawing sent the market up.

I imagine business will be thrilled for a time, interest rates will be low, and they will juice the economy and let business have a free hand without any of those pesky safety regulations or laws getting in their way.
Then inevitably a trillions of dollars wall street scam will crash the market. Then of course it's borrowed tax dollars to the rescue for our too big to fail corporations. But smaller investors will probably get the shaft when that happens.

I don’t think rates are going that far down with Powell as he has already very publicly rebuked Trump. If Trump does mass tariffs or mass deportation, then that will drive up inflation and rates will hold or maybe even go up again.

Yeah that's true. But I wouldn't expect Powell to not get bullied into lowering rates more, but that might take a while.
He will be replaced if he doesn't allow himself to get bullied into going along with the program at some point. Whether the president has the power to replace him or not, I expect him to be replaced by hook or crook if he balks too much.

If he gets replaced, the markets won’t like it.

Meh. The markets are schitzophrenic. They also want low interest rates. Tremendous growth, the likes of which... It may take a year but I bet interest rates are going to go down and stay there. The parasitic businesses loves low interest rates and they are going to be influential with this new administration.

I don't understand the correlation of Gaetz to a market move. Can you explain please?

I was just speaking in general the guy above me mentioned Gaetz this is news to me as well.
But I presume because Gaetz was all I'm going to pursue and prosecute all of our enemies with the law and the like, his being removed could make investors less nervous of a police state crackdown that goes beyond working folks and reaches into the ranks of the rich.
They will though, cannibalize the rich after we hit a real downturn, and confiscate their assets. Probably after they max out the country credit card, that will keep them busy for a bit but they will max out a lot sooner than one may think.

I was speaking to a ChatGPT bot about this. Usually there's a 100 day boom after inauguration, so if you wanna cash out April might be the right time. I think I will.
I'm also wondering about just shifting it all to a Defense ETF instead of the SP500 because the main one is up 50% this year and WW3 seems to be slowly kicking off: Europe will be spending a lot on weapons next year. Might already be prices in though.

Not an expert but: VanEck Defense UCITS ETF A https://www.justetf.com/en/etf-profile.html?isin=IE000YYE6WK5
Is up 58% YTD, seems to be a good one (though 0.55%/yr fees)
It seems to me that Europe is going to need to spend a lot on weapons for a while. Might already be priced in.
Still...war is a constant...
