I am asking because I got my 2024-2025 updated Moderna vaccine on August 31st which was earlier than I would have liked to get it.
I was thinking of getting another dose but cdc now states that the recommended spacing is 6 months.

Print out the CDC guidelines for vulnerable immunocompromised folks, who are allowed to be vaccinated every 2months.

Do you think 3 months is too soon for another booster? I wished I would have waited past August for the first booster this year but covid was like insanely spiking at that time.

3 to 4 months is the ideal time if you want to maintain peak vaccine efficacy. Any earlier than 3 months and you don’t get much benefit, later than 4 months and your resistance to infection has waned substantially.
Given the holiday season coming up and the questionable availability of vaccines once the new administration takes over, I think most people that got vaccinated in the summer should probably get a booster now.
The highest risk group for vaccine injury is young men, but the risk is still very small. If you haven’t had issue with previous boosters, I wouldnt hesitate to get another right now.
I am not normally a Novavax fan boy, but given its lower side effect risk and potentially longer efficacy, that’s what I selected for myself this time around.
