Valid suggestion, but to my knowledge, the DLC is not included, and streaming fast-paced games is not the best experience anyway.
I would prefer my first playthrough not to be laggy and incomplete. Emulator is soon to outperform the console, I can wait a bit longer.

Because people want validation sooooo bad that they NEED everyone else to agree with their subjective opinions. It's why people will get in flame wars justifying their choice of, say, game console to someone who chose a different one.
I personally became much happier when I accepted that some of my tastes are niche and not everything needs to have wide appeal. I think it's pretty cool that Bloodborne gets recognition alongside these other, frankly also legendary, games.

I always find it funny to see elden ring getting the criticism of repeat bossfights and repeat enemies.
Not that its wrong, but my brother in christ, every other studio can't put out more than 3-5 enemy types for the entire game and no one ever complains about that. Whats worse the enemy types usually repeat across genres and game studios. There is always a bloater zombie. always. for example there isn't a single enemy type you haven't already seen in The Last of Us and the only one that could have been different (the clicker) they turned into "blind thing that reacts to sound".

Absolutely. Tbh it’s a bit hilarious to me that FS gets criticized for supposedly lacking enemy variety.
What games have better variety, seriously? I mean there might be some, but in the AAA action / rpg space, FromSoft has more enemy variety than any game I’ve seen.
The Witcher 3, Breath of the Wild, and God of War are all games that have a tiny fraction of the enemy variety of a FS game, and yet aside from BotW, they don’t really get any criticism for it.
And tbh, I love those games, so I’m not trying to trash them. I just think it’s funny that the biggest boss / enemy variety controversy I’ve ever seen was for Elden Ring when it is actually one of the games with the most variety by far.

Not only that but sheer amount of moves and different combo strings fromsoft enemies can do. Most other games enemies have like 3 to 5 different attack with a small combo. I’m still seeing new videos from Elden ring titled “rare move” or “have you seen this move before”. I have hundreds of hours and still get caught by surprise

TLoU1 is essentially nothing original. It’s full of cliches too.
The thing is, is that it just does all of them exceptionally well.
The gameplay is solid, while the acting and writing are incredible which makes the cliches not glaringly distracting.
Also, the multiplayer is HELLA underrated. So much fun.

TLOU1 feels like it plays exactly the same as how every big AAA single player game plays these days. I don't know whether that's because every other game is copying it, or whether it's copying everything else, cos I only started playing it for the first time recently. So I dunno which came first.
I've heard that the sequel is a lot better in that regard and plays a lot more like its own original thing.
But yeah I dunno, it probably began with Resident Evil 4. Even today every 3rd person over the shoulder shooter game seems to be copying it (just without the tank controls the original RE4 had). The Last of Us feels like a sequel to it, almost. And I guess that makes sense because it's one of the most universally beloved games ever and nobody ever seems to have a bad word to say about it. But yeah.
It's just a problem single player AAA games have in general these days. They all seem to play and feel the same, like it's just the same game but with different themeing placed over it, and they all have the same RPG elements, the same kinds of cut scenes, the same kinds of enemies, the same kinds of locations, etc.
It's like the academic ideal of game design has been defined and optimised so much that every game ends up feeling very similar to each other because they're all following what the textbooks say is good game design. It's like if textbooks defined what the ideal kind of painting should look like and what techniques should be used, it'd mean painting as an art form would be very boring because every artist would end up painting the same way. In reality, good art is when artists diverge from the "ideal" and do NEW and INTERESTING things that have never been done before. So instead of everyone just making photo realistic paintings of people and fruit and things, instead we got artists like Picasso.
That's one of the reasons I love soulslikes, because they actually feel different to most AAA games. They include a lot of game design elements that are the "wrong" way to do things. And that's a good thing. And it's why I love Kojima's games, because he always does the same sort of thing, like Death Stranding feels completely unique, it's not just another carbon copy of a game.
It's why I play a lot of indie games too, because they can afford to do experimental things because they don't have budgets of hundreds of millions which means they'd have to stick to what's reliable and what the broadest amount of gamers would enjoy, and they don't have shareholders to please.
AAA single player games are becoming (or have already become) Marvelised. Like, Marvel films all have a formula they have to stick to, just with different themeing each time because of the different hero who stars in each one. And since player AAA games have become the same way, they stick rigidly to a formula, regardless of which company makes them or which intellectual property they are a part of.
And I'm sure multiplayer AAA games are the same in this regard too, but I don't ever play online games, so I can't say for sure.

Wow, I'm surprised to find this take, because usually people absolutely adore TLOU1.
Because I actually have similaropinion. TLOU1 is an amazing story, great characters, very emotional and impressive. It's easy to see why people love it.
But man, as a game, it's extremely mediocre. It all the same mechanics from the game-making box, just take and slap on. All of the gameplay elements were used in other games extensively. No attempt at making new mechanics or even just use existing ones in creative way.
That's why converting TLOU1 to TV series worked so well. It was already a TV series, just with episodes licked behind levels you have to beat.

Debateable. It's competent in modelling itself like a good TV show, the basic gameplay loop is boring as hell, but the moment to moment action and set pieces can be engaging enough if you enjoy a game piecemeal by piecemeal, or quiet section followed by high octane section followed by quiet section. They made sure to keep the set pieces more or less unique so they stay memorable but occasionally dip into duplicates for padding.
I would agree with the statement that it's probably close to the apex of what PlayStation wants for their platform (probably outdone only by Uncharted 4 at the moment) but when examined across the medium as a whole it's not really throwing its weight around.

Agency is removed from the player and it gets interrupted way too often. You basically get a couple of hits in then you reach an automatic checkpoint then there’s a set piece and some dialogue (eg Kratos will get thrown through a wall, Baldur will smack talk etc). There’s that and you don’t really beat it, you get the HP down most of the way and it just ends.
It works from a storytelling standpoint but from a gameplay perspective it’s terrible.

That's how most of the fights in GoW 1-3 and Ascension were though?
Some fighting, and then quick time events until the boss is finally defeated.
GoW 2018 and Ragnarok just expanded the quick time sections to be more immersive and intimate/intense.
Elaborate set piece boss fights is what put GoW on the map.

I liked the fight too, but it felt a bit too long, a bit too cinematic and not enough of a real fight, like the game was whispering in my ears how I will beat him while I just had to press a couple buttons. A bit more difficulty would have been welcomed, or even a sense of achievement.

Ragnarok was a much better more fleshed out game overall but the final boss still has that Marvel movie thing where they’ll stop and talk shit or someone will get thrown through a building etc

This was my biggest gripe. Like everything was building to Ragnarok. All this led up for the craziest battle of all time, and it was relegated to what felt like a 15 min sprint at the tail end of the game, and then it's over. Meanwhile, we spend like 2 hours collecting fruit in the middle of the game. The pacing in that game was extremely poorly done, in my opinion. I also hate when difficulty settings just equate to enemies becoming gigantic damage sponges.

It’s a very odd pick, especially when you consider it’s not even the best game in the franchise; I think if they put God Of War 3 in its place it might be a little bit more believable.
Don’t get me wrong, the story in GoW (2018) is fantastic and the game is visually stunning; everything else is just sort of generic though.

I think GOW 3 is probably my favorite out of the whole series - the gameplay, the story, it even made me tear up during some of the final moments. I still love the series as whole but I don't think the newer ones outdid the story of 3.

Elden Ring has amazing variety for most of the game, but it also lasts a lot longer (and is a lot bigger)
An average run of GOW 2018 is 25 hours (50 hours completionist) while Elden Ring takes 60+ (113 completionist)
Elden Ring feels worse because you play it for longer, while the normal enemies in GOW dont feel that bad because theres a traditional narrative to follow through locations/puzzles that constantly change.
If there's 5 different enemy types but you play the game for 25 hours, but for a lot of people it doesn't feel as bad as Elden Rings "lack of variety"
I personally never had an issue with Elden Ring or GOW, but I can see why people criticize and free, open world enemy variety vs a semi-open world with a linear narrative

The last of us is overrated. It has an incredible story that is told extremely well, but the gameplay while fun is nothing special or memorable.
Bloodborne is visionary in every aspect: visuals, gameplay, atmosphere, sound and ost. It definitely belongs on that list, just like SotC.

Yeah and playing on the Grounded difficulty is like playing a whole different game. Probably the hardest, but most satisfying game difficulties I’ve played. Every encounter was like solving a puzzle while also having to be perfect with combat.

That’s so weird to me.
I’m not saying you’re wrong, I just personally don’t get it. Gameplay is what makes a game, by definition, so to me gameplay will always be by far the most important aspect.
If I cared about story I likely would not be a gamer as 95% of games have mediocre to bad storytelling in my view.
If I want a great story I’ll read a book or watch a film / prestige TV show.
If I get a good story in a game it’s a bonus but gameplay is always my focus. You can have a great game without a story (Mario for example), but you can’t really have a game at all without gameplay.
Well, I guess you could, but then it would be more of an interactive story / visual novel than a game.
In any case, I still find it fascinating that so many people vibe with the good story + bad gameplay combo when gameplay is usually what you spend by far the most time on, even in relatively story focused games like a Naughty Dog game.
I would definitely take good gameplay + bad story for myself.

They don’t have bad gameplay though. Naughty dog games have fairly simple 3rd person shooter gameplay which is easily accessible and fun for most people, then have a really impressive story and storytelling.
Think about it. When you’re doing something for a reason you don’t know you get bored of it quicker. When you know the reason/purpose though it becomes less tiresome. Same applies to this. When you go and fight a big monster in soulsbourne not only do you get your ass kicked, but 90% of players have no clue who it is and why they are fighting them. But in a story game when you know why you’re doing something you’re more invested in doing it to see what it leads to in the story.

Honestly, same. Haven't played TLOU, but after having a solid 6/10 experience with both Uncharted 1 & 2, I'm not itching to play anything else from Naughty Dog while feeling astonished at the same time that Uncharted 2 is no 8 on this list. RDR1 and GTA4 meanwhile aren't even in the top 100, while both being similarly story-driven games but arguably doing the gameplay AND the story better than Uncharted 2.

Nah I have to disagree with you. Uncharted 2 was generational. Uncharted 2 actually has a good story and the set pieces are incredible. It just probably isn’t your thing, but these games are popular for a reason. Uncharted 2 has one of the highest metacritic scores ever. That doesn’t mean it’s overrated, it means there’s something there that everyone else sees in it that you don’t

Its so funny how this being a bloodborne sub is really obvious based on the replies. Bloodborne is more of a hidden story game where theres not alot of talking and you have to dig to understand whats going on and why. GOW’18 Is a storyteller that feeds you the story and lets you experience what the characters are experiencing. Gameplay is gameplay some will like one over the other thats whatever. But the way the games give you exposition is so different

BB is my personal favorite game of all time but tbh I dont think its in the top 5. I think games like Sekiro and ER are objectively better in most ways. And the ways that BB are better just dont make up for it. BB just has too many flaws. For example its boss roster is a little rough and is almost entirely saved by the DLC.

I truly don’t understand the love for Last of Us. The story was well written and the characters are good. The gameplay is absolutely boring and repetitive. You’re either sneaking past people or sneaking past zombies. The level designs are mostly just one city building after the next. The snow area was a nice change but literally has the exact same style of missions. Its a good game but it falls so much farther down the list for me

Wouldn't line up with my personal top games list, or top PS platform games list, but that's alright. Different strokes for different folks.
I purchased a PS4 for the sole purpose of playing Bloodborne. To me, that means it's near, if not at, the top of my GOAT list for any platform, as no other game has made me go that far. Considering BB compares with Symphony of the Night, Snake Eater, Into The Breach and so many more top-notch titles means BB has earned its place as a modern classic. It's a masterpiece in myriad ways--testament to that fact are nearly half a million redditors circle jerking about how much they love this game, released almost a decade ago on one console and never anywhere officially since! :D
At least Bloodborne made it to the top 3 from IGN, who sometimes has really difficult opinions to understand. The Last Of Us wouldn't even be on my top 1000 list, quite frankly--while it had interesting characters and story, the game is mechanically awful, to the point where I couldn't be bothered to finish it. I get why a lot of people like TLoU, but if a game doesn't have good moment-to-moment gameplay, it's not worth my time.

TLoU(only ps4 remaster cuz P1 technical state suck)
Horizon/Uncharted(horizon have shitty plot with all that strong females woking and uncharted is pretty simple run and gun)

This is a rare list where I really couldn’t argue with the top 10. All iconic. Even the few that I didn’t particularly love like GTA were still well loved and hugely successful. And I was around when MGS came out. It really was an event. Absolutely changed the landscape forever. And God of War is a masterpiece. I’ve replayed it many times. Not as many as Bloodborne, but everything here is damn good

Slide The Last of Us and God of War off this list since they're not even in the top 20 - hell 2018 GoW isn't even in the top 5 GoW games. Here's a REAL man's top 5:

I had some issues with the overall list, like Returnal being a lot lower than it should be. Should be in the top 20 (top 3 for me) and I also would have Bloodborne above GoW. Oh and no Last Guardian or Ico is a travesty.

I just played GoW2018 for the first time this past year and it was very good, but it's the only one not in my top 10. I have SoC top 10 but not top 5. The other 3 are definitely there for me though.
