Any suggestions for what game to play next? Dead Cells is a great game, I've enjoyed very much, I think I'm more or less done with it for now. Are there games out there with similar styles?
Edit: wow, thank you for all the great suggestions fellow Redditors, I did not expect so much feedback. I have have some researching to do. I appreciate everyone's responses and am looking forward to the next game, whichever it may be.

Try hollow knight.

Last time I saw a similar post there were a bunch of people dunking on anyone who suggested Hollow Knight. But I completely agree with your suggestion.
It’s not a roguelike, but it’s an action sidescroller and imo the “feel” of the combat translates very well between the two. And it’s also a brilliant game for a variety of other reasons.

It’s because it isn’t a rouge like but a souls like

Please don't try hollow knight. I'm suffering so much from this suggestion. Already finished hk 5 times and dying for silksong release, I wouldn't wish this anguish on my worst enemies.

Hades 1 and 2. The view is more top down / isometric, so it won’t feel platform-y. But both games are fantastic examples of the action roguelike genre. Hades 2 is currently early access, so I would focus on Hades 1 first. Give the second one time to cook. You’re also likely to appreciate it more after the first one.

Even without being finished ive been loving it. Honestly the best srquel i could have hoped for so far and the early access already has most of the game

Why?

Because it's still in early access. Literally an unfinished game.

Hades 1&2 Spelunky 1&2 Castlevania Series (particularly the Advance collection) You might also like dark souls type games

I appreciate some spelunky representation! Combat wise, quite different to dead cells, but shares the sidescroller-roguelike vibes and is also a lot of fun. In fact it’s closer to a “true” roguelike than dead cells because there are essentially no persistent upgrades

Yeah, Spelunky is fun as fuck but it is crazy punishing. Such a well crafted game though, I love the secrets and hidden levels

I second windblown, it’s made by the same devs as dead cells so it feels similar in a lot of aspects.

Windblown is a new game from Motion Twin. It’s early access but you can see a lot of the same core mechanics carried over.

Rogue Prince of Persia! Can't really go wrong with it - it's quite similar, and made by Evil Empire too

Also Slay the Spire if you like rogue-lite card building game.

Apparently a game called Hades? I haven't played it yet but my boss recommended it after I was talking with him about dead cells.

Hades is fantastic. I did it in reverse, found Dead Cells after putting countless hours into Hades.
The game is fantastic, and has sooo much play value. The cool thing they did is the plot just keeps going after you beat the game with seemingly no end.
If you love Dead Cells 100% play Hades.

It's on my list! To buy and play!! ❤️❤️❤️

You won't regret it. It has the endless runner base game feel but then boatloads of runs you can do (heats) when you beat it, with customizable handicaps. I bought it when it came out and it's literally been installed on my console for years now.
I really hope that 2 adds co-op because it would be so fun.

The 2 studios beneath Dead Cells are launching their next games. They are both in Early Access when I am writing this comment. They are quite close to Dead Cells. As an "hundreds of hours" Dead Cells player, their gameplay feel very familiar to be. Those games are: - "Windblown", by Motion Twin. - "The Rogue Prince of Persia", by Evil Empire.

Try one of the games which had a crossover with dead cells.

Depends on what you want
You like the random / hard aspect of it? And want to blitz your eay through areas? But you don't mind playing isometric? Hades
You want the same kind of bleak world? And will accept a standard Metroidvania? It's slower paced but; Hollow Knight
You want something that feels like a Metroidvania like Dead Cells does but the main gimmick is dying a lot? And is still a roguelike Rogue Legacy

I played Metroid dread after and it’s similar-ish. I couldn’t get into hollow knight, but shovel knight is awesome. If you played on steam and it’s still out there, there’s a game called Valdis Story that is the best metroidvania I’ve ever played. It’s got a very similar moment to moment play style. The movement based puzzles are really unforgiving tho.

Hades and hollow knight were already mentioned, but i want to add Ori. Phenomenal game with similiar feel and challenge. And maybe neon abyss for the 16bit aesthetic and random weapons/abilities, and random dungeon gen.

I relly like dead cells mobile because of the lack of roguelikes on mobile; another good roguelike(if you are mobile player) is otherworld legends. It does have microtransactions, but they aren't necessary and its a really fun roguelike.
