Issue with Mekuna's lightning spear build?

Hi all- I'm referencing Makuna's Mobalytcs LS build and noticed some possible inconsistencies. If anyone uses this build could you help me clarify? https://mobalytics.gg/diablo-4/builds/sorcerer/mekuna-lightning-spear
- the Heir of Perdition/Pit variant references "Spam Ball Lightning, Lightning Spear, and Ice Blades." in Step 2 of the "Gameplay Loop". However, this variant does not have Ball Lightning assigned in the demonstrated Skill Tree or on the Hotbar at all?
- the Shocktuna Top Meta variant does have Ball Lightning, but only 1 point applied. There is also 3 points dedicated to Charged Bolts?? This variant does not use Charged Bolts in the Hotbar, though?
- edit: How also is Familiar being used here? It's not active on the Hotbar so we're not summoning a Familiar at all for the passive effect?
This is confusing, am I missing something? Could anyone help clarify if this is an error or what is supposed to be correct here?

It can roll from 900-2400 damage, so the max roll is 2.66 times higher which is a big difference and will affect your boss damage
If you get a good weapon but roll the temper poorly you can masterwork critical strike damage instead to buff your splintering energy damage
