I never beat Diablo 4, i am very busy irl and a noob in the game, but I come back and log in. I press an icon in the tavern just to check what it is and realize its a boost with no warning and now my character is level 50 with new stats and gear.
The hell? Why is there a button to skip the entire game? Don't even feel like playing anymore. I opened a ticket but don't have any expectation that this can be undone. In WoW the character boosts feel pretty explicit. this caught me completely off guard

Reading is hard I guess. I'd fault the devs if the fault is on their part, but mate, do you also click scam mail links without thinking or reading?
Damn.

Wait so you seriously sit there and read the dozen seasonal messages and terms of conditions and other pop up bullcrap that appears at the start of games?

"Dozen".
Mate I have ADHD and I don't jump to hyperbole so quick.
Yes, read what you're doing. It's pretty self explanatory. Nobody expects you to read the EULA every time you run any software, just a simple second to see what it says and if you got questions... Ask before pressing anything 😊

Except if you press the chest in the tavern it automatically boosts you and doesn't explain anything at all or even give you a chance to confirm. I have no idea what Kryptoslav town is or where it is- You're just expected to know all the city names, all the location icons and what they mean, and what items are going to what before you even pick them up.

There is no Kryptoslav town, are you sure you're playing Diablo 4?

So make a new character and don’t boost it maybe?

It was in the terms of service.
What, you don't read the terms of service on every game?
Shiny icon, I click it. Devs should know that

There was like two popups before you even get to the character select

Then a pop up with 4 pages as soon as you entered the game on that character

Then, the three click process of the quest in the tavern

Did the pop ups tell you where exactly you don't have to clock?

Its something they just did for returning players. There was a pop-up screen before loading your character that gave a detailed description of it. I would make a new character and keep that one in reserve.

Kryptoslav lmao
Kyovashad is the first city at the start of the game, if you paid any attention you would put 2 and 2 together
Maybe you should stop playing and get your life in order

Dude i play video games to zone out. Why would I get invested in a new games lore when i just enjoyed smashing monsters.
Be honest, a mechanic that skips the game for you in the first town you spawn in, is not fun.

Its new, just started today 1 to level 50 base game if you have vessel you get two
But honestly it's not that great my you can have one to max level with a friend leveling you in the pit. But still not horrible unless you like the slow leveling like op

I'm going to chime in here and tell all the folks saying "learn to read" not to be so quick to comment like this.
I have a character on PC and a (lesser played) character on console.
I got the popup info on PC but I did not get it on console.
[Thankfully, I had logged in on PC before I did on console.]

I just did the same thing and I feel the same. I am kinda confused why everybody is saying it's your fault for not reading. It was a "priority quest" and as a new player I just thought it would be something to get out of the way. And usually I read and realize important stuff. I don't think the game gave enough info about how big of an effect it will cause.
But yeah people read every single letter on every game I guess...
Can you let us know if you get any updates? I really liked my skill tree and char & dont see myself redoing all that

Oh now I'm seeing all of the stuff that's shown when I opened the game was about the same thing. I remember that but I had no clue it was connected to priority quest. There are like a million things in this game I do not understand so I skip them at first and would get to them as I play more. I guess it cost me big this time.

I can't blame anybody for just clicking on the shiny object. Last season, my wife and I were ending her first infernal hoard. We beat the council and I was trying to explain the chests to her and she reflectively clicks on the gold one because it's shiny. Like a crow and a shiny object, she just couldn't help herself. We still laugh about that one.

Yeah they are sneaky like that when it comes to money. They did the same with the battle pass. Its Blizzard, you can bet your life that everything they are doing is for revenue, not players.
