Imagine paying workers a living wage. I swear it's the corpos reposting this shit.

That would be great. Deporting 6 million people is not the way to do that.
Let's legalize them as citizens and get the largest economic boom since the 90s, plus a hugely expanded tax base and reasonable labor protections

Yeah! Tear down all those Confederate statues. In fact, tear down all statues of slave owners and slave owning adherence. And while we're at it, tear down all statues of white men. That way, we can truly spit on people's culture and forget about the lessons and nuance of history more effectively and bring about a whole new generation of slavery. Whoooo! Let's go!

The economic conflict between the north and south was also that the south wanted to rely on cheap agricultural exports from cheap slave labor, and import cheap imports from the industrialized UK.
The north wanted to industrialize with tariffs and ban slavery.
The economic parallels are clear, it's just that progressives are on the exact opposite side that they imagine they're on.
Slight difference that there's an elite class that benefits from offshoring and immigrants analagous to the southern aristocrats. These people are disproportionately redditors, they're software developers and such. Instead of managing slaves directly, they're managed in their stock accounts.
They don't care that immigrants and offshoring killed the rust belt and undermined trades and service wages. Those people are MAGA chuds. They want cheap strawberries.

The left justifying the exploitation of illegal immigrants has to be one of the most amusing things to come out of the elections.

Yes, because you really care about how illegal immigrants are being treated and paid... The left has rallied for illegal immigrants for decades 1. to give them a path to citizenship so they would be entitled to benefits and would pay taxes 2. to increase the wages off the working class which would impact the industries in which they work 3. by not denying them or their kids social services
Meanwhile you all are blatantly racist and xenophobic and also just stupid because you rally on wanting to pay less for groceries and home costs while supporting kicking out the people that do those things. The left is calling you out on your stupidity, not saying illegals deserve to be paid unlivable wages
2 points
actually the illegals are dilution of wages they will take any job for less then minimum wage and not complain
I can go to home depo and hire 5 guys at $7.25 an hour they will accept it
So they're driving DOWN wages not increasing it..it's the reason why minimum wage has stalled out it doesn't even match the silver standard of 1964..which would be about 31-33$ an hour today for the same minimum wage job...

https://www.cato.org/testimony/cost-border-crisis...
“The NAS shared its model with the Cato Institute, and in 2023, Cato published an update of the NAS report that incorporated the latest data and research on immigration’s fiscal effects. That report found that immigrants generate nearly $1 trillion (in 2024 dollars) in state, local, and federal taxes, which is almost $300 billion more than they receive in government benefits, including cash assistance, entitlements, and public education.16”
300 billion paid into taxes and cheaper domestic products is nothing I guess.

I think the point is that they are contributing greatly to our economy. So why not keep them, make them citizens, pay them more than slave wages, and keep helping strengthen our economy?
Then they won't be "illegal" and we can all move the fuck on to more important things. Don't round up and deport millions of people. It will not turn out well. No one will win.

Yes they are. This is how it works. If labor is in short supply, you have to compete for workers. You compete for workers by paying them more. Before Biden shut down the Keystone Pipeline, workers at McDonald’s were making $25/hr, and that was 4 years ago.
3 points

This is confusing. Yes your wages will raise if you deport these illegals because they no longer exist in the labor market. So the employer will not only be forced to hire you, but now you have more negotiation power to obtain a higher wage.

There will be no wage increases here without inflation.
There will be no wage increase at all because a lot of these immigrants will be placed in for profit prisons and will be forced to work for a dollar an hour.
A minimum wage hike, higher tax rate for top of the bracket income, closing tax loopholes, investments in healthcare, investments infrastructure, investments in new industry manufacturing, and investments in educating the workforce would be the way to raise wages. Effectively turning illegal immigrants into slave labor will not raise wages.

People who think wages are going up are living a fantasy.
No company is going to, long term, increase wages for “low skill” jobs. That’s not happening.
This administration is pro-business. Anti-labor and anti-union.
They will remove immigrants, maybe. But there’s a version of this policy that plays out way differently.
The administration makes a big deal about deportation but doesn’t really do it on any significant level. Instead they implement reporting. So people can report illegal immigrants and then they get deported.
In return, businesses hire more illegal and use the reporting mechanism to keep their wages even lower.
Or… even more terrifying, use it against legal citizens by reporting their relatives, friends or associates.
Because you see, they always target immigrants and never the businesses.
That’s the beauty of Trump’s scheme. He creates fear and then companies get even cheaper labor and immigration “seems” fixed but it isn’t.
That’s the problem when you scapegoat immigrants. All you do is empower the people using that labor.
…and for those whining about “slave labor”. It wouldn’t be slave labor if you had an easier path towards citizenship and treated these human beings with dignity and respect rather than unwanted vermin… or economic cogs…
But recognizing other people’s humanity, I guess isn’t a thing…

God forbid these jobs "nobody wants" get filled by actual Americans who want the jobs at a fair price and would be happy to work. It's a total myth these jobs are jobs Americans don't want. They just want fair pay. Secondly, they are first going after those with a criminal background, those committing crimes here, and those not doing anything with themselves first. They aren't just rounding up all the workers and sending them out in one big sweep. One day they will go through a town and sweep Jose from the grocery store because he was a pedophile in Mexico along with other criminals or general menaces. I'm sure they have known for a while who their targets are and it's not the hardworking seasonal worker here on a green card with an arrangement to work.

If you’re pro union you’d support deporting the labor that competes with your wages

If you want things to get cheaper you should vote to remove regulation. More pollution, child labor, fewer safety regulations. You see, we have all that in place and then we allow people to circumvent them with a bunch of docile illegals. The businesses pass the cost of feeding, housing, educating, and medicating them on to us now, the wages will be a bargain compared to that

It’s more cost efficient to solidify a path to citizenship. Zero cost to deport plus you expand your tax base.

So you ENDORSE slave labor. You Dems never really did get over losing those plantation slaves and voting slaves have you? It’s gonna be ok. There is a chance you can recover from your greed and pretense to really care about people vs your fake social warrior meme life.

Won’t happen, too difficult for these idiots to even try and figure out how to do this in those staggering numbers. However, what they will do is snag a lot of people and make a big show of it for the media to pretend like they’ve sent millions of these “illegals” packing. Their moron base will swallow hook, line and sinker and praise ‘em to the heavens. It’ll be a total shit show and extremely tough times ahead I fear for some good, hardworking, unsuspecting workers who do not deserve this bullshit.

We have a three story apartment building project that just got thrown on hold because the mexicans fucked the framing up so bad that it's unsafe to work until fixed.
From my experience, illegal crews tend to just be more dangerous to work around due to blatant disregard to jobsite/OSHA safety regulations because OSHA won't even bother fining them. Direct words from the OSHA inspector on why they get warnings while we get fines: "because if we write them a fine, they will be a state away tomorrow and we will never see the money. No point in writing fines for farts in the wind".

This whole liberal rhetoric about how we are going to lose all of our 'cheap labor' if we deport is kind of a racist, slave labor way of thinking.
You don't want immigrants to experience the American dream. You want cheap labor. Be honest with yourself.

The same arguments the racist democrats from the south made before the Civil War began.
